Your rooster sitting on your lap is adorable! He reminds me of my tiny Sultan rooster Frankie!

Interesting content. I had no idea. We gave 2 roosters back of the eggs we incubated. Guessing they became soup. Ours are not nearly as social as yours.

This year I bought my first flock of chickens. I have 130 hens and 8 roosters. I can't imagine my flock without them. All but one are sweethearts, but the grumpy one does it out of fear and is easy to manage.
@ReneeWahlsTaterTown14 күн бұрын
Wow, that's awesome! I can only imagine how necessary those 8 roosters are with that many hens. They really do help flock dynamics. I do love mine, too, even though they're stinkers most of the time 🤣

You have handsome boys. I love my roosters too. They definitely give me a lot of content to make videos about with all their drama. 😂❤
@ReneeWahlsTaterTownАй бұрын
They really do cause lots of drama 🤣 But I certainly wouldn't change a thing! I just checked out your channel, and I love it! Thanks for commenting so I could watch your chickens too!

My flock rooster os a cross between a Buckeye hen & a Bielifelder rooster, My French Wheaton Maran hen hatched 5 eggs I kept 2, both are 1/2 Bielifelder/ Marans crossed 1 is 1/2 French Wheaton & the other French Black Maran & he looked like a barred rock for a long time (with barred feathered feet!) I will keep everyone (as long as I can also keep my eyes 😂) & add some more hens in the spring after I move. Great video 💕

Thank you Kris! And definitely watch out for your eyes 🤣 I bet those crosses are absolutely beautiful! And sorry for the delayed response, I had shoulder surgery on Thurs, so I'm a tad behind (and typing with one hand) 😕

Great question! Eggs will start to incubate between 37 and 38 degrees Celsius, but that doesn't mean they can't start to develop lower than that. So they probably will have a shorter shelf life if you're keeping them at room temperature (maybe one week). If you refrigerate them or keep them in a dry, cool area, then they will keep the same as unfertilized eggs. I hope this helps!

Now what?... I live in the sticks. After seeing a roo for a few weeks on my way home, just yesterday evening, I swept his feet and he is now my buddy. Yeehaw! but winter is almost here (weeks)

Without knowing Jack about chickens, he has been a model bird. I think I have an idea for a thrown together winter coop, which will hopefully buy time for a planned coop... and some ladies.

I'm sure he is very happy you decided to take him in, and you're a good human for doing so 😊 There's a ton of good resources on the web to help you learn about taking care of him, and you'll learn as you go. But it's totally worth it!.

There are all sorts of ways that you can make a home for one bird if you use your imagination. Lots of things get thrown away that could be easily repurposed. Be creative and think outside the box.

The more you handle them the calmer they tend to be except for Rhode Island Reds. They’re just psychopaths

I have one Polish Top hat to ten chickens of different breeds. The poor boy is hen pecked daily and he allows it. He is so good and is kind to his girls. I feel sorry that they are so mean to him. His head is bald and his long tail plume is gone. I don't know what I can do to improve his situation. I am not supposed to have a rooster but every home I tried to rehome him only wants to make soup out of him. He is one of my favorite of all the birds and certainly can't allow for any soup making.
@ReneeWahlsTaterTown21 күн бұрын
I would definitely not let him go to make soup! I think you're doing great trying to keep him safe. But if it becomes to much for you and him, maybe look for a rooster rescue if there's any near you?

We don’t have any kind of vet within an hour of us that we can take chicken or rooster to. I know I’d like to see video on trimming the spurs
