RRR still has a chance to get nominated to Oscars... Indian jury can only send entries for "Best International Feature Film" category. The movie producers and distributors must submit individually to other categories like Best Picture, Best Story, Best Director etc... I'm sure Variance/DVV will submit RRR for other categories...

It sucks that our Indian films are not selected for Oscars. The recent film that is selected for Oscars is Lagaan, which is a masterpiece, on 2001. Newton, Gully Boy, Sardar Udham, Bahubali 1, Bahubali 2, and RRR are rejected because Oscars’ jury wants films that show poverty. It is a shame since RRR is my favorite Tollywood movie of this year, but I hope that RRR will get an award in one of the categories.

Sir, I would like to talk about this scenario by comparing it to the rajya abhishek scene in Bahubali 2...bhallaldev ko maharaj to ghoshit kar diya..lekin public ke reaction se pata chal hi raha tha asli maharaj kon hai unke lie. Likewise yaha all over the world saari audience ne RRR ko jo response diya hai, IN MY OPINION I feel RRR doesn't deserve the Oscar. It's nearly impossible to get nominated in general category now. There are giants out there. But if it was pushed and seeing current trend, it would have definitely been nominated for Non Eng category. Such a wonderful chance wasted. As RRR is out of category now other countries are more happy than ever.

Hi Suraj.. You just spoke on the behalf of many million fans of SSR and RRR. It doesn't matter. RRR will gets its awards how hard many haters try... RRR can still be marketed for Oscar awards now in General Category. Just that it cannot be awarded the Best Foreign Film (which had the best chance, lost due to FFI). Anyways RRR will get its cut at oscars.. Lets hope the best...

If you read the hindustan Times article regarding why Sardar Udham was rejected for Oscars, one of the jury members said, "We pick a film we think will match the sensibilities of the jury at the Academy awards". Why can't just a movie be selected if it is good, irrespective of the somebody's sensibilities. And then there was another, which said the movie projected hatred towards British. I think this time also they just cared for the western sensibilities, and sent ChellowShow for Oscars. It's like they are working to appease their masters.

Indian jury thinks that oscar sending film should be just a good art film and that would bring us the award and truth is it’s about lobbying and trying to get the attention of the academy members who vote for the films. If a film which is sent is unknown in India itself, there’s no way Indian films are gonna get that much needed recognition across the world. RRR might have got nominated atleast if it was sent. Because rrr getting nominated has been sure shot guaranteed by many westerners (till now no indian film has gained that much attention from them)…
