If like me, you are also a Sadhguru follower, then you might be aware that Sadhguru is not a big fan of Reiki or energy healing of any kind...
And I happen to be a Reiki Master in several forms of Reiki...such as Usui Reiki, Celtic Reiki, Celtic Wisdom Reiki, Self Love Reiki and a few more.
And I am sure there are many other Reiki practitioners like me who also follow Sadhguru's teachings and might have started wondering why he would say such a thing...
So I decided to do some research as to why he thinks Reiki shouldn't be done...And here are the 3 reasons he listed in his book Mind is Your Business.

We were taught to never diagnose anyone, never suggest a medication, never tell someone to get off their meds. Reiki knows where to go and what to do - trust Reiki. Good video, I am a Qigong practitioner and have taught a few people , Ive found that the majority of people come seeking a cure and I explain that the healing comes from within nowhere else. The exercise only helps to balance and harmonize the body, the breathing focus helps to keep the mind focused on the inner self. I am a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I heal no one, but I can open a door for others to seek on how they can help themselves. Wouldnt it be Wonderful if Eastern and Western medicine came together and wasnt focused on Monetary gains as much as it seems now, I know its not everyone but its muddying the Waters of Life, imo.

The difference between the 2 is that western really cures most curable diseases that would not have otherwise self cured. The spirit healing(which most of the alternative medicine is)allows for growth and maturity so u can accept what u can’t change. That also helps in managing your stress levels and this reduces your disease risk.

​@drtobekapamla3273 respectfully disagree.. western medicine doesn't cure any diseases except some diseases can be cured by surgeries....rest of the western medicine is just symptom control treatment, not a real cure...because western medicine is mainly based on masking and suppressing symptoms, it doesn't cure the disease from the root cause. Traditional Chinese medicine, ayurvedic medicine from india, siddha, unani homeopathy cures most of chronic, urgent and even some daily ailments from the root cause. Western medicine should only be kept for emergency situations like emergency rooms and surgical rooms...it should not have space in people's daily lives like it is today...

In my opinion the ego healers should not use the term "reiki" in any form as they are not following the definition of Dr.Usui's reiki. I'm not sure but extra techniques to traditional reiki will probably lead to ego/monetary gains for these new kind of ego healers.

As a Reiki master for 15 years and intuitive, I think those are great perspectives on being a healer of ANY modality. Thank you for the clarification. 😊🙏 And for those who do not get anything from this perspective, I would like to remind you that "A true Master is Always A Student". The perspective that hit me is that WE as practioners have been guided as vessels to help channel (if you will) the energy of Creator to help others. How Creator chooses to use that energy in the receivers body is up to Creator. If they are healed, then so be it. If they receive clarity on the cause of the dis-ease so they can address it, then so be it. We are only the vessel not the source and I think a lot of healers forget that. Everyone's journey is different. We are not Creator to choose their path of recovery for them. I would like to add that I would have liked to hear Sag Guru be a little more neutral on his perspective. While clarifying his concerns, also recognizing the shift in humanities awakening in recognizing and allowing Creator to be more present in everyday life. Many people hang onto his wisdom like children to a mother. Creating misconception on a healing modality that can truly help humanity may also be part of HIS ego inhibiting learning that is not from him. (And I do like most of his teaching btw but he is just as human as we😉) Where your mind goes energy flows. I choose to have faith in humanity and ALL of the healers out there that their intentions are good and that 90% are being guided by the light. And so it is. 😊🙏💙🦋

We are not masters in anything, the fact that we sat on a chair and received an initiation does not make us masters. It is only a title on a diploma that is not legally accredited. I have also been practicing Reiki since 2005 and have been very passionate and trying to receive more initiations and in turn pass on. One day I was invited by someone to a meeting with a Tibetan tantra practitioner. That was the first time when my pride as a "master" fell. Other Reiki masters were also present, people with over 20 years of experience. The practitioner of tantra was from all points of view more evolved than us. Since then I started to learn myself, to look for people who could teach me and initiate me. But for the few who gave initiations in a certain form of tantra, they did not have workshops for money like in Reiki. They were not interested in giving initiations, it was another totally different approach. So I had to leave the pride of being a master at home and to walk like a beginner with pure desire, humility and sincerity. That's how I managed to be initiated into the first stages of a very vast and deep spiritual field. I'm at the most basic stage of Dasha-Mahavidya and Kalacakra, not at a master level. Each energy in the 10 mahavidyas are very high and intense. Kalachakra practice is also there.This is not about the Creator giving me energy, all 10 mahavidyas are the energy of the creator. So are the five families of buddhas―Vairochana, Akshobhya, Ratnasambhava, Amitabha, and Amoghasiddhi. Five very powerful energies that can each lead to the ultimate spiritual realization. In conclusion, I wanted to show that Reiki is only one energy. It is neither the highest nor the only energy that comes directly from the Creator. There are other energies, and some of them are more intense and work even faster as an internal transformation. What I failed to do with 9 Reiki systems in many years, I succeeded with only one Mahavidya in 3-4 years. My wife is also a Reiki master since 2005, but now we both practice tantra. Better some practitioners at a small level but with results than a Reiki master. There is a verse in the Bible that says: "better a live dog than a dead lion".

What my reiki teacher taught me: 1. Never do it free. 2. Ask for healee permission. 3. Explain what is reiki. 4. Do not focus on fixing particular problem. 5. Say- Pls send reiki healing where its most needed today. 6.Do not diagnose as a medical practioner. 7. Ask Archangel Michael to protect during reiki. 8. Close your crown chakra once reiki is finished. 9. You are just a source to connect healing chi to healee. 10. Thank the universe.

It is important to let the practitioners know that they are not the healers, that it is the client that heals themselves. Thank you Annindita for your detailed analysis and reference based clearance. What I think is very simple as you explained. I am helping someone to get better. If I come across a biker who fall and expecting help and is not very serious, what I should do? I will help him/her to stand up if he/she is OK to stand and can ride the bike again then help to get the bike and help them to go to their destination. Now if say he/she is unconscious or say cant stand up then definitely I help them to go to hospital. In short I try to help people to get better and they can reach the level they want. To be frank in my case there are 75% says they got the help and some 20%say it did not helped them in any way. I am happy that at least some part of the people are getting help. One more thing we can give the Reiki when the receiver is ready to receive the Reiki. That is the first principle we have to make sure that the receiver is fully ready and accepting the energy.

Wonderful video... I stumbled upon it in a comment thread on a Reiki page on Facebook, about Sadhguru being against Reiki. I recently completed his Inner Engineering Online course, and thought it was excellent. I now have a lot of respect for his teachings. I also became a Reiki practitioner this year, learning both a Western lineage, and most recently an Eastern Lineage. I totally agree with you, I feel, after learning under Frans Steine (International House of Reiki) that Western Reiki has strayed from the original teachings and intentions of Mikao Usui and Sadhguru is calling that out. The Reiki system is a simple tool that can be used for self healing (and in healing ourselves, we can help others). When taken beyond that, in the examples you gave, it can possibly be counter productive to healing, and even discourage people from being open to it. Thank you for taking the time to record this, I will now look up your work too!

As a Spiritual Healer and Raki Master I have to agree with you. I was thought 50years ago by a natural healer that true healing is but an expression of unconstitutional universal love. We are just the bit in the middle that the energy flows through. when we hold no attachment to the outcome and just let the natural intelligence of the energy do what it will. I start with the thought may this healing be for the clients highest good whatever that may be. ln the end it is all about mentally stepping to one side and just be a hollow bone to allow the energy to flow..

The hardest thing with learning all this is ego. I’ve felt such a strong connection toward healing people and feel as though in moments where I speak to people in efforts to make them more comfortable with themselves and the work they have to do on themselves, it’s almost like I’m telling them truth rather than my truth. It’s nothing to do with me, but as I try to go deeper I find my own problems disconnecting me from this truth I wish to let pass through me. Now I’m on the path to completely healing myself and as I search for gurus or reiki masters to help me, I’m met with so much I disagree with deep down in my stomach. I’m so thankful for finding this video now, though, as there’s just that humility and honesty in you that so many other masters and mystics seem to forget is so important in all of this. My goal is to help others become aware of their journey and to help them realize they are capable of their journey, nothing more than that. I just want to connect others to this thing I have felt connection to, because I know I’m not special or “more enlightened” than everyone else. I just want to be another support in this bridge.

Thank you so much Annindita for such an insightful video. Your explanation was very enlightening and like you said, some of these points and aspects are something that are somewhat debatable. I agree with most of the points but there are certain aspects that I feel differently about and that is the beauty of our existence that we all have our own ways of seeing things, which I believe is what makes us unique. I have learned a lot from the wisdom of Sadhguru. However, there was one aspect of his personality that totally put me off, which is not related to the points of this video so I won't mention it but perhaps that led me to see all these gurus and teachers as channels of the Divine Source and at the same time humans. I feel usually people tend to put them on pedestals that lead them to get hurt or feel betrayed when the things said by them do not go with their way of seeing things but a true guru never asks for that in fact their job is to inspire and provoke us so that we could think for ourselves. Unfortunately, not many people understand it but then again one has to respect them as that is their journey but over the years, I have realised that these gurus/teachers are here to guide us but at the end, it solely relies on us how we perceive our reality in the best possible manner. I hope whatever I have shared makes sense. You have a lovely energy and I simply loved the background that you chose. May you always continue to speak your truth and be your authentic self. Wendy I agree... Unfortunately a ton of people are doing Reiki incorrectly. I often read posts in Reiki forums where people complain about feeling depleted or drained or experiencing other symptoms after a session. I believe when Sadhguru talks about not doing energy work he's talking about these incorrect practises.

Oddly enough, the way you explain the proper way to Reiki heal reminds me of how artists should approach their artwork. They shouldn't think of what they're creating through their media, but instead focus on the lines and spacing of their elements. I think I'll be looking for this read later! I had a general understanding of Chi channeling before when I started doing yoga as an addition to my workouts. Perhaps I can get a better understanding on how to get my energies in order here!

Everything you've said, I intuitively feel the same way. Using tools to diagnose or to inform someone of imbalances I always thought takes the recipient's mind away from the fact that they're healing, and it puts focus on what was "wrong." The moment I could tell my pendulum what to do mentally, I knew that subconsciously that allowed me to put my biases into the "diagnoses". I feel lots of practitioners put focus on the monetary exchange of their practice, so they modify things to make the recipient feel more comfortable exchanging money for reiki energy. This never sit right with me. I believe anything of a spiritual nature should be kept in the spiritual, so if a person is guided to me by their own spirit, the compensation I get is directly from the healing I receive by being a conduit for the reiki energy, as well as the spiritual reward I will receive by serving as a healer. To bring money into the conversation always tethers the reward to the physical. Of course, if someone wants to donate, that's fine. But the requirement feels wrong to me. Even the astronomical prices for the attunements. I understand that the Reiki Master is using a lot of time and energy to attune but, to even look at time and energy as linear and something that can be used up is counterproductive in the sense that we are gifted with the energy for a reason, to use it and we will always be rewarded for using it. So charging 1,000 dollars for an attunement never sit right with me. That's like a person who feels led to a monastery being charged to become a monk. Yes, there are spiritual requirements and things to do that show true commitment, but money doesn't belong in these realms. At least for those who are led by their higher nature. Maybe someone wants to become a Reiki practitioner for egoic reasons, so the money will serve as the energy exchange, but I believe Masters should be sensitive enough to sense a person's commitment to their soul's evolution and the evolution of others, therefore removing the gatekeeper mentality. But yeah these are the things that have crossed my mind and I'm only a "Level 1"...

Hi, I'm a legitimate Twin Flame virgin Buddhist laws of attractor, purely got my Twin Flame to temporarily chase via Monk brain power. I am not a master, I've done two classes. I do it for myself, friends, family and animals. Reiki is universal energy, and the practitioner channels that energy as a tool. Energy knows where to go. The practitioner must neutralize their own energy with water before and after. Works the best when there's no emotional attachment. Interestingly , when I tried to send the energy to my aunt who was taken to a hospital, I wasn't able to connect to her. 30 min Later I got news she died. Same happened with my mother before she died... I just couldn't connect

Hi Rohit, great question. Reiki can definitely be used for healing yourself. You don't necessarily have to use it on others. There are plenty of other tools for self healing like pranayama, meditation and many many more options. Just start with the one thing that you feel more intuitively attracted towards and see where it leads you. I personally like to know a variety of "healing tools" or modalities as I have seen that based on the issue and my receptiveness, certain modalities have worked better for me at certain times. For instance... Meditation has helped me the most with enhancing my intuition and also overall sense of happiness. Pranayama has helped me with respiratory issues that I used to have as a teenager. Reiki has helped me with feeling a deeper sense of oneness and has also helped me progress on the spiritual path. I think it's different for different people and you have to find what works best for you. I hope that helps.

My reiki healer is doing distance healing from past 7 days. On a first day she did healing at center to me by physical touch. She told me on 11th and 21th day (last day) will be healing at center. All other days will be distance healing. She stated you might feel some energies and anxiety coming up ( as i have anxiety disorders) but in this past 7 days i didn't feel anything. Can i stop healing at 11 days ? And is it mandatory to do meditations and chanting OM during these days. Please share your thoughts and help me understand.

You need to ask these questions from the person you are receiving the sessions and also decide based on your own results and how you feel overall. Personally I always recommend daily meditation of some kind to the people receiving the energy. Your healing is your responsibility first and foremost, so you need to be fully engaged in the process. Wether you go to a doctor or a Reiki practitioner or both.. Your compete involvement is needed. That's why I recommend meditation as well as lifestyle changes always as part of the healing process. There are charlatans out there unfortunately, and no reiki practitioner should ever claim to diagnose or cure anyone. It is a supplemented treatment. I use a pendulum but only to tell me what is off with that chakra. A fast or slow turn tell you if the energy is off and why. For instance fast chacral movement can indicate addiction, obsessions, etc. And letting the energy there longer helps with that chakra more. If the possible list of problem is mentioned to the recipient they are made aware that it causes blockage or slowing. They may contiously realize they are being obsessive or addicted for instance. I may mention some reasons for fast chakra but never diagnose per say. That is their realization to make or not.

I am really grateful I found this right now. I just filed for LLC in US to begin Reiki business but extremely conflicted because I love Sadhguruji and saw what he said about it and became concerned. I put so much investment during a difficult time and really thought this was a good way for me to be of service to humanity while I am still doing my own inner healing. Then I would have more to give to the Foundation I love so much I felt. Amber I'm glad you found it helpful :) As long as we keep the intention of allowing the energy to work for the highest and best good of all parties concerned we automatically end up surrendering to a higher intelligence and go beyond our limited ego and Reiki can be of no harm in that case. I have personally never experienced any harm coming from my Reiki practise. But I have heard about practitioners taking in the client's symptoms and that is one of the indicators of the practitioner getting energetically entangled.
