What an inspiration! So the game WAS made with Game Maker! For a long time, people have talked down on the engine and I've been told that "If you don't make your own engine from scratch, you aren't a game developer". I look back now and realize that it was dumb to even listen to such bullcrap. It does not matter what engine you use to bring your ideas to life, JUST DO IT! And games like AM2R and Undertale are living examples. Not going to let others discourage me about that any longer. Thank you Toby!

2018 was when Undertale was undergoing the localization treatment, although the inverse of how it usually happens. In this case, a Western game was being translated into Japanese and integrating EASTERN humor, mannerisms, and dialects. I heard whispers of Earthbound references in this game, but as I had never played the Mother series, I missed most of them. It's cool to hear how Sans got incorporated into the SMASH roster.

The part about game freak's resources being low is false. The people working on Town are from a different division of game freak. The reason the new Pokemon games have a lower quality than expected is because the pkmn co int pushed for the game to be released sooner.

Game freak *is* a small company. They're not the pokemon company. They have 150ish people and there are 2 teams. Team 1 is dedicated only to Pokemon whereas Team 2 is dedicated to side projects. These side projects are used as experiments so that the staff can experience other stuff besides pokemon. They're also constantly being rotated around. Swsh has been in production for around 4 years. Just say that you're mad about the National Dex and go.

Toby is an example of what happens when the universe flips a coin in your favor. All his hard work at Undertale paid off tremendously. He is a pioneer. The first indie developer to have a character playable (in one form or another) in Smash Bros. That is a lifetime achievement few can dream of.
