Hey, guys. Do not degrade someone. Obviously we can't leave KZbin as it is more beneficial than harmful. Moreover, the real damage comes from social media apps like facebook, instagram, snapchat etc. So, leaving them is hard but if we do that, it leaves a very good impact on us as we no longer have to prove ourselves nor do we get anxiety by seeing those perfect fake lives you know.

I’ve been on my phone since I’ve been 13. It’s been 10 years. Instead of learning a hobby or actually living, doom scrolling. *We rather watch others do something we like than actually do it. Like kids watching adult play with toys on KZbin* I’m changing that today and will try to learn when I’m on my phone and not doom scroll. This makes me more lazy than I already am and takes up too much of my precious time on earth.

I wish I was in a neverending 90s decade. The invention of the smartphone and social media is the worst thing I have exprienced in my lifetime.
@luxlior4 ай бұрын
It’s not the invention that is the curse, it’s the monster that is human nature’s perpetual desire to consume, to be entertained, to feed a bottomless need for entertainment. The inception of tiny pc’s that can fit in your bag and pocket is an incredible concept ! It’s something people in the 50’s probably never even dreamed would be an accessible consumer reality, let alone a reality in and of itself. It takes a lot of self work and discipline to be ok with being alone in the moment and your thoughts, not over consuming the high levels of easily accessible online garbage we gorge ourselves on in our self-indulgent need to keep our minds busy or distracting ourselves from our reality with the constant background noise. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

@Scarshadow6667 ай бұрын
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the loneliness part that affects people the most - part of the problem is that, sadly, it's not uncommon for people to have low-quality IRL friendships and/or relationships (and, for some people, social media is just a placeholder for where most socialization usually goes). For most people that are neurodivergent, ostracized from their family/friends/community, and/or (like me) could have mild social anxiety and trust/vulnerability issues, IRL socialization has often been hard already - so social media addiction can be very likely when people feel lonely, even while hanging out with others IRL.

I hate the addictive nature of these social media platforms how they are all basically clones of TikTok. Even Facebook which was once tolerable is now just an infinite scrolling page of brain candy. It makes me feel so awful when I get caught up reading some attention-grabbing text which makes me watch the video underneath which makes me want to continue scrolling and before I know it 2 hours have past and I don't remember anything I watched. I can only imagine how harmful this is to kids who use this technology.

Oh please! If it’s kids, parents get them their online stuff. They don’t care with their own noses stuck in their phones. Social Media addictive for adults? Obviously they have nothing else going for them. No hobbies. In my day in the 60’s and 70’s, TV was the villain and my parents made sure my brother and I did other things. If we messed up and watched TV when we weren’t allowed the TV would no longer be in the home. Parents use social media for their kids much like many parents in my day with TV as a babysitter. There’s such a thing as an OFF switch. No one twists your arm to go online. Stop blaming social media for your inadequacies and your kids’ inadequacies that you as a parent refuse to deal with.

What makes me most uncomfortable about our current trajectory is that most content feeds are becoming increasingly algorithmatized. I want AT LEAST one feed on internet which is sorted chronologically and filtered by who I follow - that's it. I want at least one feed in which I have total control and free from recommendation. It's concerning that right now KZbin is pushing contents I do not follow onto my Subscription feed. They are just desperate to dial up the addiction meter now that ad industry is pulling away from Big Tech.
