@siuchaos26067 ай бұрын
His fighting style carries him honestly, him vs Chito was one of the most entertaining title fights i've seen in a good while. He was literally inventing shit, his striking is insane. I don't like him as a person, and think his trash talk is cringe but that doesn't mean he won't be popular. O'Malley is honestly just going to end up like Adesanya, a good draw of 700k+ PPV buys, and a bunch of fans who glaze him like crazy. He pretty much is the Bantamweight Adesanya, entertaining striking, boring trashtalk, 299 brought him a ton of new fans, and him beating Merab will bring him even more. O'Malley's star power is fine, he's gonna be a decent draw from here on but probably won't live up to Mcgregor. His star power will end up peaking at around what Adesanya's star power was in his prime. But who knows? Maybe he could train up his trash talk, or find a new personality or something interesting, but I don't think he has that much expectations. The UFC is in a pretty good spot right now, all the champions represent a multitude of countries, for Georgia + Spain they have Ilia Topuria, for Africa there's Dricus, and O'Malley is for the zoomers. The UFC has decent new-generation stars, so I don't think O'malley really has to live up to anything.

Honestly, a massive part of it for me is how the UFC lies and manipulates to try and force O'Malley as this kind of 2nd coming of McGregor and it's bizarre. Guy's an exciting assassin who has a fun enough social media game and who set a really great example on how to build yourself up by actually taking your time, honing your skills and making your money before he then made a massive leap straight to #1 Yan, which took serious balls and belief. At the same time, he has the mic skills and presence of a toilet plunger. So it's odd every time the UFC goes against all logic and tries to strongarm us into believing he's this PPV superstar.

Unironically Sean O’Malley got popular off the Instagram “clout era”, that’s why he’s so boring during pressers

He shot himself in the leg with a couple things. Hanging with 69 and letting him tattoo him at the time gave him huge hate. Some fans didn’t like that. Then he started dying his hair. Flashy but it does affect his likeness in some markets. He will be popular but I don’t think he will ever be a household name like Conor.
