The UFC began to punish O'Malley as soon as word got out that he was bragging about getting easy matchups. He almost threw away his whole career by bragging about how easy his fights were early on. The UFC threw him in with the wolves by putting him against Peter Yan. The American English pronunciation is "Peter." Not "Peaturegh."
@WearingGoldluck3 ай бұрын
@@starseeddeluxeIf Petr was American, then yeah, his name would be Peter, but he’s not, so his name isn’t pronounced that way. His name is Petr, pronounced “Pyo-terr” which is bit closer to how Academic says it than you’re trying too.

I'm not a huge O'Malley fan, at least in terms of his personality, but I am a massive fan of fluid and precise striking, and there's no denying he has that in spades. I think the way to beat Sean is to shell up and use fast footwork to close the distance and just dog him. He is a great striker and decent everywhere, but he is clearly fragile. He's had his leg injured in fights twice, and the one good shot Chito landed in the rematch had O'Malley doubled over in pain. It's easier said than done though when Sean is such a good mover and accurate counter puncher. His chin is decent too. If he wins a few more at 135, I think he should bulk up and see if the extra muscle makes him sturdier. His skill set would be incredible at 145 or 155 if he kept most of his speed and endurance. And, let's be real, no 30 year old man who's 5'10-5'11" should walk around at 150lbs if he wants to be effective in many real life scenarios. He says he's "mentally undefeated", but I'd be willing to bet he's lost a few to a pickle jar or a 50lb bag of dog food.😂

For many fighters who earn the belt its easy to see why people question their legitimacy, but i have NEVER understood how or why people question Suga. He never delivers a boring fight and he always proves that he has some of the heaviest and most precise hands in all of UFC... From the insane KO against Wineland to the spinechilling way he finished a grounded Almeida... The most insane experience is listening to a non-commentary suga fight, no DC or Anik to cover the blows, just bonebreaking knuckles doing the talking. On top of that you have a fighter who will prefer to do a walkoff KO and spare their opponents the pain and torment of his ground strikes, but will deliver the killing blows when necessary.

Seems like Sean's physical fragility is his main potential issue. He certainly has the skills, but is prone to simply breaking at any moment. Merab could get a takedown and Sean's ribs will dislocate or something weird like that.

Same could be said for any other skinny fighter. A lot of fighters suffer physical injuries because its their profession.

The thing is O’Malley has changed his body, look at his legs, midsection etc now compared to 2020 . Listen to timbos interview with his strength and conditioning coach . Sean is so intelligent he took a page out of nba , nfl handbook with his training to PREVENT injury and strengthen his physical foundation

(People have discredited Sean's opponents but the reality is that it would be impressive if anyone performed in the ways that O'malley has performed in these fights. That's what I don't think a lot of people understand) A lot of people underestimate O'Malley but I feel like his striking skills, fight I.Q., movement, feints, stance switches, timing, strike diversity, is some of the best there is. He proved his striking output cardio endurance in that record setting output against Green haired Kris Mutino and that 5 round masterpiece of a title defense against Chito. He can strike around high guards. He understands how to put velocity/power on his shots. Even when moving backwards. He abstractly flows with how a fight unfolds. He's shown he can make really good reads in the moment. There are so many interesting high level fights that can be made going forward. All will be awesome to watch. There's insane talent in this division & near this division. At the end of the Day: What matters most is How can these people perform in the octagon? When the pressure is on can they perform in the cage? He isn't the next Conor. He is Suga Sean O'Malley and he has easily been the most entertaining new age fighter to watch as his career plays out
@kenshin164411 күн бұрын
My main issue with O’Malley is he denies his losses. I don’t care if he beat chito in the rematch. He lost the first fight. And it wasn’t some accident. It was from a strike that chito initiated. Otherwise if a fighter elbows someone and they get a cut and the doctor or ref calls the fight the loser could say I didn’t lose cuz I wasn’t knocked out. It was a fluke injury. And then he loses his title after only 1 defense and then he comes out and says he’s still undefeated. Such bs. He’s a poor loser. I got no respect for a fighter like that

Are you the same guy that made that video about the effects of CTE in combat sports? The video that plays a clip from 'The Caretaker- Everywhere at the end of Time'? I listened to that album over a span of three days immediately after first seeing the CTE video in August 2022. That album changed my life. I listen to the first 45 minutes of the album atleast once a week. I find it soothing. My Grandpa died of dementia in 2016 so I know all too well the horrors of that disease as well as ALS, (Amyotrophic Later Sclerosis) is how my Mom died in 2017. She was first diagnosed in 2014. ❤.

UFC learned. Not to let their fighter grow too fast. Like many before him. Darren till, Alexander Hernandez, gall, super sage, etc. Sean has been smart about it and thinking about money as main priority. If he wants lots of money, he has to be the best. To be the best he has to train, eat, sleep the best. It’s quite basic actually.

It’s funny whenever someone takes shots at Weasle for “counting punches” they always seem to leave out any sort of real argument for why what he does isn’t legit. Always some subtext suggesting that it’s silly but never explaining what’s wrong with it 🤔
@MixedMartialAcademic3 ай бұрын
I wasn’t insulting it in anyways lol, I know that might sound like it, what im saying is im not going to overthink or analyse it, it was just a close fight, that’s all I meant
@HoboGardenerBen3 ай бұрын
It doesn't reflect how the judging actually works at all. The judging isn't counting strikes and intensitt and adding it up mathematically. Effective grappling is much more important than he tries to make it seem and includes stuff he doesn't count. I'll go find the video I saw that details exactly how wrong the weasle is.
@westinian31443 ай бұрын
cause its pretty silly to think the guy with the most strikes each round won the round, just because of that, plenty of times the guy with less strikes has won the round/fight, counting punches isn’t a judging point, damage, control time, aggression, etc are actual judging points
@HoboGardenerBen3 ай бұрын
@@westinian3144 Yup, go check out that video I shared in this thread by Fight Study. He goes into great detail about why the weasle is wrong. The scoring is very vibey, it's not simple math. The weasle read the rules and ignored a lot of it and then broadcast his misunderstandings to lots and lots of people who just mindlessly parrot him without ever looking deeper.
@unhpsychology39093 ай бұрын
@@westinian3144 agreed, just looking at strike totals is not sufficient. That’s why he tries to make judgments on the impact of those strikes and weighs the higher impacts more. Aggression and control time literally don’t matter if somebody has more effective striking. He’s doing exactly what judges should be doing if they followed the rules, except he has the benefit of video replay so it’s more accurate. I think it would be fascinating for more people to use footage to score the fight (according to the actual judging criteria) and justify their decisions based on what they observe. I’ve yet to see anybody who thinks Weasle gets it wrong do that.

like the other guy said, they’re fair use clips, he’s saying it’s not his footage and where he got each clip from, and he’s not running ads on it, so the UFC can’t do anything
@Sidney-Holiday3 ай бұрын
@@westinian3144 yeah thought it would be fair use but it seems other creators are so weary to use UFC content for copyright. Doesn't appear to be running ads but does have a sponsor read with sleep mask so it's still monetising. That's clearly a lot of work he's put into this video and seems the same with his other content.. so I'm just curious how it works financially. Unless it's gorilla marketing by UFC/O'Malley
