They did a great job with Xingqiu / Yelan - Yelan doesn't powercreep XQ and neither are made redundant. Having both is generally better for your account but you can get by with one if resources are tight. I'd be happy to get a 5* Bennett that's basically Bennett but without circle impact. And if HSR release a pure E6 Tingyun clone as a limited 5* I'd pull her in a heatbeat.

Really looking forward to this video and boy it did not disappoint. Thanks for another banger waveman! Also Robin is absolutely the third Bronya and you know it lol. To elaborate, Bronya and Robin's synergy is actually insane. Bronya can Action Advance Robin to get an instant turn 1 Ult, upgrading her ST action advance to a teamwide one. Also, because turn-related buffs don't tick down during Robin's Ult state, Robin keeps Bronya's 66% DMG boost for her ENTIRE Ultimate duration. If you can time the second Robin Ult to go off before she starts her next turn, she STILL keeps the DMG boost, making Bronya's 1 turn DMG boost last 2-3 cycles if timed correctly. It's insane. Also, thanks to Sparkle's insane SP generation, you can even Sparkle -> Bronya or vice versa to generate extra energy without losing any action value. It's honestly insane. To see an upper limit for this, velleity abuses all these techs in their Arlan 0 cycle MoC 12 showcases (who works thanks to being insanely SP efficient), where they are able to consistently get their Arlan TEN TURNS per cycle with the help of some support eidolons, high SPD, 4 pc Eagle, and two S5 DDDs. Seeing as how most DPS get 3-4 turns at most per cycle with the help of one action advancer, it's absolutely insane how stacking more of them allows you to multiply those actions.

A better Tingyun would probably replace her in Daniel E2 comps though. The problem with Tingyun with Daniel E2 is that she can't consistently keep up her buff on him because it only lasts 3 turns and it makes her overall SP negative when you likely already are low on SP because you just used his burst combo. The solution is that the buff would tick on Tingyun's turn over Daniel's turn, and let's be honest, but most can't crank out a 3 turn Tingyun per cycle. The thing people don't understand about Sparkle is that Sparkle isn't as SP positive as she looks like on paper, because she uses 3 SP to generate 4 so her actual SP income is 25%, meaning her SP economy is even worse than Hanya's (Hanya uses 1 SP for 2, but she herself doesn't need to trigger the extra SP and 1/2 is 50%). The thing Sparkle does that other supports cannot quite do, is that she provides burst SP income which is specifically good for QQ and Daniel because both also burst consume SP. Overall though, Sparkle isn't as SP positive as people think she is, as most other supports who don't use skill every turn as Sparkle does, are more SP positive than her. Sparkle makes some team comps easier to use and her own buffs are obviously very strong, but the extra SP is honestly a bit of a fake selling point, especially when you have supports such as Ruan Mei who are completely SP positive with her own light cone.

If the definition of "powercreep" is that one character does X criteria better by a certain specific measurement, then a lot of characters had already powercrept each other. For example, Jingliu powercrept Blade in terms of total damage, and... Blade powercrept Jingliu in terms of staying alive. Which made the term useless because every characters (so far) have their niches however insignificant. So I think "powercreep" is easier to define as "if you have Y option, would X get benched out of your team?" In this case, powercreeping a support character is 3 times harder than powercreeping a dps or a sustain character, because out of 4 team slots, at most we can bring 3 supports into the fray (or 4 if you do Robin hypercarry shenanigans). Like you've said, if there's a better tingyun in the future, then the answer of course is bringing both tingyun and tingyun. We can only rarely do this with dps, and bringing two sustains got me called skill issue, so... yeah :(

Well, the closest counterpart to Tingyun is technically Robin. They both provide ATK buff and DMG% (Robin provides more and teamwide while Tingyun is for single unit) The 50(or 60) energy Tingyun provides is equivalent to Robin whole team action advance; more turn = more energy, 20-30 depends on your action is lower than 50(60) but it’s for the whole team. So Robin shines more in dual DPS comps. They do similar things but do something bette or worse, like Bronya / Sparkle situation. And Yes. Both her and Robin can run together, Tingyun can battery Robin to enable the low cycle clear strategy.

massive spoilers/leaks considering the new nine tails tingyun model we just recently saw, i'd wager we're getting her 5* version before the next region. BUT i'm very curious what they'll do with her. another harmony might be a bit redundant, especially if sunday turns out to be a harmony character. then again, they might make her a pseudo-harmony that follows another path such as huohuo. destruction + buffer fox might be funny that said they may still be able to pull off something interesting with her as a pure harmony support. she would definitely retain the energy mechanics already allowing her to be top tier though they could also make her buff characters in a completely new way compared to what we have now. possibly allowing her to add a new multiplier *on top* of DMG%? or maybe increasing the base damage values of characters? anyways if we get another [increase party's DMG% by x] skill i'm gonna lose my mind

once the game went live hoyo was veeery scared to give another unit the ability to snap their fingers and give Energy to others, they realized how strong it was but still dabbled on an alternative path with huo huo... thinking huohuo's would be weaker but the concept of giving someone else energy is waaay too strong (when your ultimate is only tied by energy and not time unlike genshin) the real "sidegrade" to tingyun is Robin, robin essentially gives tingyun buffs to everyone (except energy) not just one unit. the advance foward she has on her ult is a way to say "I'm not going to give you energy per se, I'm going to advance you and you're essentially going to get 20-30 energy for free by doing any action... *if* that helps you get your ult faster then fine but that's not the real purpose ;);)"

This confirms tingyun didn’t make it back to the loufou. Also explains why “tingyun’s” body vanishes after phantylia leaves it. Cause it was just a imitation of the real tingyun. Now here’s what happens after the events on the loufou. yukong sends a search party to search for tingyung’s ship. The search party find tingyun’s ship and discover that Raun Mei already got there before them. This is a direct hint and foreshadow that raun mei has already brought tingyun back to life or will do it. Which explain why the leaked 5 star tingyun now has 4 tails and different colored hair. Actually a lot of people will just use them together. Tingyun + Huohuo + New Energy giving support= massive energy factory for units like Argenti, Yunli, etc. to get off ults quicker, on top of also opening up quick ults from supports. Not to mention that no character truly gets fully kicked off the meta until 2 new characters that do the exact same thing from the old character releases, since you need 2 teams for endgame content, which means that even if one team uses the new fangled energy support, the other one can have Tingyun. Also Tingyun is a 4* so she'll be more accessible to people than a new limited 5*.

She has been replaced. By Robin. They are functionally analogous. Tingyun provides atk and pwr, Robin does it better. Tingyun is +1 skill point positive in her rotation, Robin is +1 by giving the other support and the sustain another turn. Tingyun provides some personal damage, Robin does it better. Tingyun advances the team through DDD, Robin does it better. And finally Tingyun provides energy to the dps which Robin also does by giving the team an extra turn. Robin arguably does it worse because its only 30 energy to the dps instead of 60, but the party is technically getting 70 energy total, which may be better, and power creeping Tingyun's 60 energy is probably not happening anytime soon. This is why Tingyun has been replaced on most teams by Robin and when Tingyun does show up it's usually to battery the Robin.

Call me brain rotted for acknowledging zero cycles but they are the gold standard all teams strive for, it’s the best possible feat for a team to achieve outside of zero cycles with a sustain. So being her best teammate for her strongest team cores is imo relevant and supports Waveman’s theorem. Even in normal cycle clears, Tingyun still likes to be played with Robin too, just that those teams are usually with dual dps one sustains, not hyper carry
