Great video - I always ask to my course participants to seriously think about the Rule Of Threes: We survive up to 3 minutes without oxygen 3 hours without warmth* 3 days without water 3 weeks without food The * of course also relates to hypothermia. Thanks for sharing!

Well put .. thanks. Depending on circumstances, the 3-hour Rule. Regarding 'hyperthermia', there is often confusion out there between 'heat exhaustion' and 'heat stroke' .. the first normally (but not always) preceding the latter. Heat Exhaustion being fairly easily treatable as against Heat Stroke which, once established, is a critical condition with dire consequences. Educating people who may be exposed to conditions condusive to Hypo / Hyperthermia in how to recognise such conditions, read the bodily symptoms thereof and treat the outcome is very important and in my opinion, often not covered in enough detail.

Hello Rich . Im your subscriber from South Carolina , USA . This was an excellent video on he topic of shelter . Many videos show how to make shelter in a survival situation but don't explain the different types of shelter and in which conditions each type should be employed . Cheers , Mate !

...and for crying out loud, learn how to make a rainproof shelter from thatch or some facsimile (Don't be like those "Naked and Afraid" people). The other day, 72 F was already starting to get hot for me... I must have forgotten what the Amazon was like... Then it went down to 55 F and I had to start rubbing my skin to keep warm and bundle up. You can't run inside when there is no "inside". The last time I was in the Amazon it went up to about 90 F - 95 F or so and it was way too hot for me. I had to drink water incessantly. I remember as a child that I could tell when it got up over 100 F and I would remark that it was a little bit hotter that day. It all depends on your acclimation. When you are acclimated to 100 F, don't expect to be comfortable if it goes down to 70 F or even 75 F. The water temperature of the Amazon is 85 F and it actually feels warm when you swim at night. (That temperature scale made me chuckle because 90 F is too hot for many of us until we get acclimated. In the winter, many of us set the thermostat at 72 F, no lie.)
