Wonderful interview. I remember when I went to my home country there was no hot water so I heated water and bathed in a bucket every day. It took a while before my neighbor came by and showed me how to get my gas tank and to install a cheap water heater system. Cost $100 for the electrician to do the work. Ten years later I now have a sophisticated Eco heater system installed.

As a Rwandan who spent half of my life in the US I agree with the queen! Also Rwanda has done a tremendous job that people usually forget that the country is literally not even 30 years old.. everything you see today have been build in the last 29 years. So for diaspora be patient join the movement Rwandans are on which is to see the country flourish the journey is fun and enjoyable and the most good part of that is that Rwandans are open to anything. Bring them a chuck cheese and they’re down bring them anything and they down for the ride

Wow ! I do not agree with theory of Christopher Colombo discovered Africa as they were people who lived there before him and I don’t agree with your comment . Nor the lies neither money will erase the past history of Rwanda to suit this sugar coated version of RPF.

@kayjd9097 I'm pretty sure - your own agenda aside - you understood that the OP meant everything was destroyed to unimaginable levels and rwandans had to rebuild everything from scratch. Somehow, some people responsible of plunging Rwandan in the abbys of darkness and their sympathizers, in the comfort of the taxpayers subsidized accommodations in the West , don't want to face the reality of the consequences of their past annihilistic agenda. So it's kinda comforting for them to think " yeah, we destroyed country, people, houses ,the fabric of a nation . But just a little, not as bad anyone may think ....See ? Some people survived, a few houses , roads remained , so not as bad..." There's nothing powerful than what's a tortured conscience can plays on some people's minds .

Words of wisdom most people from the diaspora need to know that in Africa those who want to build, create partnership, learn and exchange with locals will succeed. Those who want to have the same comfort as in western country remember that western countries build their countries profiteering on Africa resources(people, mineral, agriculture goods) .Africa need builder, developer, creative mindset🙂 Welcome to Africa with that knowledge 🙂

Thanks so much for bringing Mama One's perspective on this, when people say it's easy to start and to do business in Rwanda but what they forget is that Business is business, regardless where you're there are some truth about running any business, some of these American brothers and sister seem to forget that crucial part of business, even Locals open businesses and close, the good thing about Rwanda is that the issue is on how you do your business not about who is doing it, so regardless who you're and where you're coming from, you may fail or succeed.

What an AMAZING interview!!! I love her already as she is full of wisdom. I am an African based in the UK. My survival instincts told me to fit in by learning the culture, politics, banter and to mingle with the locals. While it's good to maintain relations with our countrymen, learning to mingle with the locals is a positive step towards settling into a new environment. Having an open mind has taught me a lot and made my adaptation easy. Even after living in the UK for 6 years, I am still learning. People from the diaspora willing to live in Africa should embrace Africa as it is, mingle with the locals and understand that the world is so diverse and waiting to be explored.
