@znipermontejo55195 ай бұрын
Nope. They helped so they can extend economic alliance. SEATO is the first group to counter communism mainly in east Asia. But it wasn't for Korea, it was built so that Philippines, U.S, Thailand, Britain, and Pakistan can help Vietnam against communism. This was later disassembled though, Philippines and Thailand decided to make an association for just Southeast Asia and so ASEAN was born. And then U.S, and Britain also made their NATO. Those 2 organisations however, is not focused on communism anymore.@@reihalondres9518

He walked away and came back 5 minutes later with a teddy bear from the hotel gift shop and gave it to our daughter. He wished us safe travels and exited the hotel. It DID not happen like this, that is why you didn't realize it. This is an incredible amount of propaganda, Joseph Gobbles would be proud! This is so much hype and nonsense, it is as if you just made up the story as there are so many holes in it it's pathetic. In all of the Korean war the stats are this for Philippines: A total of 7,420 Filipino officers and men served in Korea. They suffered 116 killed in action, 299 wounded and 57 missing (41 repatriated during POW exchanges) for the ENTIRE WAR! The last of the Philippine troops left Korea on 13 May 1955. I'm a US military veteran and a historian, this is REALLY a bunch of propaganda leaving our MANY things. TO even insinuate that 900 took on 40,000 is complete nonsense. You left out Turkey, USA (PH was attached to the 3rd Infantry Division), so many things here, but people will just give praises as they think what you put is as facts for face value. Yes, Philippines helped as did other countries, but this is really like saying I took on 400 men on my own and it's just misrepresents history. There are VERY VERY few battles in history where you have situations where it is 47 to 1, and that is Finland VS Russia invasion in WWII and Greece @ Marathon. Trust me, you clash 900 vs 40,000 with a sounding defeat, and you will have more movies made than you can think of but again, this is missing out a LOT of facts. These 900 guys were on the right flank of the 65th Infantry, US troops. this is just a NONSENSE VIDEO!

I am Korean and I live in Seoul. Many countries helped South Korea during the Korean War in the past, and I am well aware that there are Filipinos among those countries. Korea was able to achieve economic growth today and became an advanced country thanks to U.N. military veterans. It would not have been possible without the sacrifices of the Filipinos and U.N. veterans. So, Korea sets up a monument to honor their souls and pays tribute every year, and invites not only veterans and their families but also veterans to Korea to thank them. The Filipinos are wise, brave, and very kind. Koreans respect the Filipinos and hope to develop better relations in the future. If I have a chance later, I would like to visit the Philippines to experience their culture and food and have an enjoyable trip. And I would like to thank not only the Philippine government but also Filipinos there. Once again, I would like to thank the Philippines for helping South Korea during the Korean War in the past.

@jeffreyfox32485 ай бұрын
@miguelgalang6450 It is true that when the invasion started literally hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, which indicates the readiness of US forces and allies, McArthur's command was forced back. It's like comparing this to the blitzkrieg on ill-prepared countries. Also, McArthur didn't surrender; Gen. Wainwright did. After years of Filipino guerrilla warfare and AFTER being better trained and equipped, the US and Filipino troops and Filipino guerrilla groups forced the surrender of the Japanese army of 262,000. When McArthur returned to liberate the Philippines, the Filipino guerrillas had already retaken 36 of the 48 provinces held by the Japanese. "So taken was he by the resilience and strength of the native guerrilla forces against the Japanese. The U.S. officially recognized 277 guerrilla units and 260,715 individual fighters, mostly those associated with the Philippine Commonwealth" (source War History Online). So, maybe laughing at the quote is not deserved.

As Koreans, many Koreans want to express their gratitude to the countries that participated in the Korean War. However, attention seems to be focused only on a few specific countries. This is especially true in the United States and Turkey. The United States gave Korea the most support and sacrifice, and Turkey also shed countless sacrifices for Korea. Korean people even like Turkey, calling it a brother country. However, there doesn't seem to be much appreciation for the Philippines and Thailand. vietnam has an accelerating economy, vast natural resources, many trade prospects, and good talent in the labor force. south korea is investing in vietnam for their own interests; vietnam does not need south korea's investments. unlike south korea who got help from the usa and philipines, vietnam didn't need anybody's help after the vietnam war, it established itself from the war-torn rubbles to what it is today. after the war (of which the northern vietnamese successfully defeated the us), it refused to work with other countries to rebuild itself. when i was ready, its economy started booming. there are many other countries that see the potential benefits in working with vietnam, not just south korea. the united states now has a huge interest in trading and working with vietnam.

@@humble_integrity Vietnam didn't need Korean investment? Is this a funny pun? Do you know how many times the Vietnamese prime minister visited Korea to receive investment from Korean companies including Samsung? Vietnam relies on foreign-invested companies (FDI) for 75 percent of its total exports, and Samsung produced and exported 60 percent of its mobile phones in Vietnam last year. Samsung Electronics' exports from Vietnam last year amounted to $65 billion. Many FDI companies created jobs in Vietnam and hired Vietnamese people. Also, the corporate tax they pay to the Vietnamese government is a source of national projects for the Vietnamese government. Korea is Vietnam's largest investor so far, but if they don't need it, Korea should invest in the Philippines from now on.

I'm a Filipino born and raised in a town in the Philippines called Tacloban. Tacloban experienced the strongest storm in recorded history, with one-minute sustained winds of 305 km/h (190 mph) in the surrounding region. Almost everything in its epicenter was knocked down or washed away by the constant bombardment of 10-15 foot waves along the coastline. South Koreans were one of the first ones to provided aid, sending soldiers, doctors, engineers, and more during our time of need. They brought in heavy equipment to clear roads, assisted in feeding the hungry, provided crucial medical aid to those in dire conditions, and provided shelters for those whose homes were lost by the wind and flood. Beyond their immediate support, they established a Korean military camp for their troops to temporarily stay in, that are now utilized by our soldiers. Additionally, they constructed a park where hundreds gather to relax, play, or explore. And inscribed on one of the buildings they built was "a dept repaid". We are truly thankful to all those whose helped us in our time of need.
