It is ok by me since I never had a brother I was from Panama city and he was from Cestview Fl. I asked Bill one day what kind of watch he had on? A Nice Rolex dive watch which had a trident on the band best I remember?. Where you get that? The Seal Teams. Back then no one even really knew much about those guys like today. So, I guess the story checks out that he was given that Rolex. Bill B was just a great guy had a couple pieces of shrapnel in his rear. SAS troops in Iraq had gold coins ( Kruger rands I believe) stitched into their uniform..... there is a well known incident Bravo 2 Zero recon unit searching for the scud missiles being fired at Israel....had several contacts with the Iraqi forces, one contact caused two guys to be separated from the unit. two quickly became one as one was discovered and captured. Being alone and no chance of finding the others the decision to head for Syria was the only option. 8 days later and several enemy dead Chris Ryan was close to death form exhaustion and dehydration and stumbled on a settlement and hoped it was in Syria, to get help and avoid being taken he produced a solid gold coin to bribe the local man.....he tried to make a deal that he would get another coin when help came, he said it got a little sketchy when the man was insisting on a second coin to make earrings for his wife.. So wether it's a gold coin or a Rolex the idea is the same

I taught at VMI for 22 years. The class rings cadets wear are insanely big (so that they are bigger than the rings of any other military academy)and made of gold. Cadets also buy their 'combat rings' so that these can be worn while deployed. I remember telling my classes they might want to rethink that strategy bc their rings would be their ticket home if they somehow through some circumstance found themselves in some deep, remote, and incommunicado type of bullshit.

Better be Water ( not Resistant ! ) PROOF ! Bought a Sieko watch about 19-70, $75 which was good money back then. Ended up in CBMU-302 Subic Bay, Philippines. Bridge was washed out between Subic and the communication station at San Miguel during typhoon season. We were tasked with repairing it. Continually soaked. Rained for 23 days / nights straight ( rain, drizzle, drenching, misting, whipped, downpours, torrential ). A week in my Sieko stopped (drowned ..."drownt" ?) went to NEX and got a Timex ( $10 ? ). Took a lickin' / Kept on tickin'. Lesson learned... ☆

It didn't have a brand name, and I bought it in a small gift shop that closed down a long time ago. That watch, is way more valuable to me than any Rolex. This reminds me of a tip given in a survival manual. Don’t carry gold coins, carry gold rings. If you’re in a situation where you need to bribe someone and you give them a gold coin, it May run through their head that you have more. However, if you offer them the “wedding ring” off your finger, it appears that you’re giving something very dear to you.

When i was in army ROTC in college in 1980, the LTC (Professor of Military Science) was a 5th SF green beanie and he wore a stainless steel Rolex Submariner. He even had the De Oppresso Libre emblem silver soldered on the clasp. It looked so cool. I knew i just had to have a Sub some day regardless what i got into as my army MOS. A few years later, i bought myself a Sub to reward myself for 3 miserable years in the army. Many years later, I bought a gold and steel Rolex Daytona. My dream watch. Some years later i also bought a stainles steel GMT II. Sold the Sub years ago. The same advice goes for the CIA officers overseas. Get a Sub or GMT. Instant currency to get out of the country.

Can also be used as a refractive lens 🧿, to act as a prism measure 📐, so that it’s double sided mirror internally will reflect the glistening light produced 🪬, as an enemy scope focuses and zooms in your direction 👁️‍🗨️, regardless of the time of day, depending on glass composition and quality, once an individual hones in on your location, the rolex will basically send a beam off the watch and reflect it back into the originating glass scope thus disorienting them and while aiming down 🕶️ your range finder picking up their position for artillery shelling.

That's not the point of these watches. They are the man's last and only fashion accessory. Rolexes also appreciates in value pretty ridiculously. In some cases, depending on the model, even much better than gold. Rolexes from the 1980s retailed for $925 USD. Those same watches now sell for $8- $10K. These are heirlooms that are passed down from generation to generation after you've worn them. A Rolex will outlive you, your son, and your son's son. It's a small token that your son can remember you by when you pass it down to him. A watch that you wore everyday to work, used it in all your travels, in house projects, etc. When you pass, your son or daughter gets it. He or she wears it for the rest of their life and when they look down at their wrist, it provides a bit of a reflection period for them. This is the case for later descadants of your family as well. Four generations from now, with adjustment to inflation, that $10k watch will be worth $60-70k; easily. History repeats itself. It's exactly what's happened with Rolex since the early 70s. These are obviously NOT purchased to tell the time. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why would you spend 10k to tell the time. 😂 Ridiculous.
