Watching this video several things come to my brain. Honestly the NFT thing to me is secondary just because Nike has made it that way by stating they purchased counterfeit sneakers from them. What I want to know the most about this entire case, is the authentication process on both sides. It would seem that shoe manufacturers and shoe reseller sites would all have some sort of universal authentication process for whichever sneaker they are looking at i.e. Yeezy, Jordan, Dunk, etc. And reseller sites would partner with manufacturers to make sure that process is streamlined. Anyway, I'm still going to buy from both sites so I'd like to see how this plays out. Amazing video and incredibly informative. Thanks for the deep dive because it really made this make so much more sense.

This is a great video Kari. “Fair use” is an interesting argument here because this also impacts artists more broadly. How are your photos/art protected if someone can just make a digital version of it (“NFT in this example”)and make a profit off of it, even though you’re the original artist. That directly violates copyright. I’m interested in seeing how the court rules.
@madrush242 жыл бұрын
Huh... so StockX is amending their guarantee to 99.95%? I'm paying good $$ for them to literally authenticate the sneaker I am buying is legit. They need to have a better returns process, then. Messed up. Btw, I bet you anything that issues with fakes aren't just StockX. GOAT, eBay, whatever, I think fugazis are selling everywhere. Stockx claims 100% authentic with a 100% authentication rate on the StockX platform. 99.95% doesn't even appear until you dig deep into the stockx website. 99.95% is hid for a reason. Stockx needs to be forced to remove 100% authentic if they're not 100% correct on the authentication process.

Honestly it seem like you are one sided since you said in the beginning that you spoke with StockX people. It seem like you are close with StockX. They do not need resell at all. It would just let regular people aka me to buy the shoes at retail. Resale would go back to the normal days without StockX. They would go back to the street or shoe convention to sell them.
@tiagotv76972 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Nike doesn't truly need resellers be the shoes will sell out regardless eventually. They just probably won't sell out in an hour, but they will sell out and those who just want the shoe to wear will be able to do so without being extorted. His point of view is that Nike needs the resells because they sell out the moment they hit the web so it's an instant turnaround for them. Against n, they would sell out regardless because many people still pay ridiculous amounts for resell so undoubtedly they'd sell out for retail. So it seems it's a wash my back and I'll wash yours sort of deal and the consumer is the one who takes the "L" by being extorted for much more than the suggested retail. Again, the big guys get all the glory while the little guys pay for it

in my opinion I think nike should just have all there sneakers on there websites like Jordan 1's or dunks like pandas and people would't have to do all this just to get the sneakers they like so I feel like this is kinda nikes fault and it would just be easier and general and you would know that there real.

Resellers don't benifit Nike because Nike who creates these sneakers are making less of a profit than the Resellers. That just doesn't make sense. Nike was a multi billion dollar company 2 decades ago. Nike doesn't need stockX. Your trippin bro. Stockx needs NIKE and Adidas to survive. Without Nike and Adidas, StockX doesn't survive. Guaranteed!.
@SneakerPhetish2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate this dialogue - so we may both be right - granted, StockX wouldn’t survive without a Nike, my point here is that there’s no denying that Nike has been steadily increasing the volume of shoes they’re pumping out since 2020 & a large part of that has to do with the constant sellouts thanks to resellers clearing the shelves then trying to boost prices higher. Nike doesn’t care about the higher profit margin because they more than make it up in volume. Someone made a 500% margin on 20 shoes? Nike made a 150% margin on 250,000 pairs. Who won that battle?
@tech4life8842 жыл бұрын
@@SneakerPhetish, it's not necessarily about 1 individual Making a 500% profit. It's that out of 250,000 pairs made, over 200,000+ pairs are selling at that 500% markup. Nike could easily control the market themselves if they wanted too.
