The next Evolving Skies will not be on the exact same level as Evolving Skies. What will define it as such is that it will be definitively the best booster box set of the Scarlet and Violet era. We do not yet know as of yet if Surging Sparks will be that set, but it could well end up being such.

I was able to pick up 7 booster boxes of surge for like 100 to 114 on release day..don’t think I’ll be able to get it for that price again even with a reprint 😅

Love your videos, always insightful. I agree reprint is unlikely to effect prices much. I think the main risk I see is prismatic evolution which if the pull rates are hard looks like it might be even more insane. You could buy SS for a long time on pre-release under RRP. Prismatic is selling out as soon as anything gets released. I've no idea how one megaset being released next to another end up impacting each other.

If you want compare the price of the cards listed on the first month when the hype is massive and FOMO is everywhere and compare it to a random set from SWSH they you will likely see many cards inflated & overpriced at the time in comparison to a settled 2 year old set.

I wanted to determine if you were hating on SS or early data in general, and you've answered that you're hating on early data, so that's fair, but SS has a a near 3-month book of data to draw from and its growth hasn't flinched across the board, it's only increased. As a long term prospect, I wouldn't compare SS to ES directly, but SS is the strongest release since.

When the BB price hits $250 even hard core investors will sell and keep it at that price level until the reprint happens. Sure hope the reprint will bring prices down to $120 a box, but I doubt it.

Big stores are scalping Surging Sparks booster boxes for €200. They're selling like hotcakes which is the problem. If people didn't pay them they would quickly drop in price

Jace, I opened 2 booster bundles and in 1 I got hydreigon which I sold on ebay for £69. In the other I got gold Pika. Yeh blooming lucky I know. I'm hanging on to the Pika but what do you suggest, sell when it hits £100 or plan to sit on it for a year or two? What do you think it'll go to?

Not in the least. Vivid didn't have the same depth. Chunkachu was way overhyped, but the depth of SS separates itself from Vivid. And.. it's not Covid $'s and manufactured hype supercharging the value of Pokemon today. Much more organic growth this time. Let that Vivid comparison die.

Very bold claim there Jace I must say 😅 its a very good set, but if I had 100 boxes of this do I think I would see a return of 100,000? I just don't see it. Team up & evolving skies are very special sets. Surging sparks is a very good set but not a special set imo. The hype of the hobby, timing and fomo of this set is driving the price up more than anything else. Would happily be wrong though on the counter argument 🙌

I've been firm on my assessment that surging sparks is a good set but nothing special. The pikachu isn't even a top 10 SIR in SV era in terms of artwork, let alone deserving of the current price tag. Pikachu is pikachu so there's that, but the arts are only mediocre. Evolving skies is one of the worst sets to open given the pull rates so I have trouble giving it the praise others give it. At this point it's a self fulfilling prophecy, and not necessarily good on its own merit.

I love surging, have 1 case of booster boxes sealed and 1 case of PC ETBs sealed. If prices drop after a restock I'll grab a 2nd case to hold. I'm not comfortable buying more right now in case it does drop aggressively after reprints
