Of course the previous owner is not going to explain the background story to the developer they sold to, they just want their big pay day. A heritage listing on a property just kills off the potential high price. This demolition is how it rolls now, any heritage or historical value of a property means zero in Australia. Look at Skippy Park ranger Headquarters at Terry Hills as a PRIMER example. Start digging into what's going on there, a really interesting story of ownership and total neglect. But be careful it's a VERY sensitive subject now.

Not one current member of AC/DC even live in Australia any more, so I just don't see the importance. Having said that, I can see how deeply this has affected people who are not me, and I feel sympathy for them and solidarity with them. Just because I don't really care about a thing doesn't render it irrelevant, and seeing so many people genuinely hurt by this makes me feel very strongly against the injustice they have experienced. I hope that mural stays up forever, and I hope the council install one hell of a memorial plaque in the pavement. Too little too late though it seems.

I think you would preserve a house if it had more things going for it. Example: Norman Lindsay’s historical house at Faulkenbridge: it is way out of town, not in the centre of an urban area. It’s a beautiful large house with a large beautiful garden full of his statues. But I don’t think we would preserve say Bob Hawke’s original house which is architecturally not so interesting and has nothing much else. It’s a shame Angus Young’s house was demolished but it’s a rather uninteresting Californian bungalow. Nothing musical about. You’ll just have to get over it.
