Answering your question about what other foreigners look for when choosing a country to live in. I'm from Poland and as a member of the lgbt community who also happens to be vegan, Taiwan is 100% the best place in Asia because these 2 things are very much present, developed and accepted in Taiwan :) Also the ease of travelling in Taiwan, beautiful nature, amazing people and for me personally the culture that is extremely rich despite the small size of this island.

And the shithole in the West will be treated like the batshit crazy banana republic it is then and arguably has been for a long time already. - Only fools will laugh; people who don't (want to) see the obvious signs that the USA are basically Roman Empire Reloaded. Points for correction: 1. Foreigners are always welcome and given full access to China subject to your fulfilment of visa requirements, I am sure all coutries are the same 2. Foreigners need to book nominated hotels only PS: if visiting or travelling in China, no one is willing to stay in shabby hotels rather than cosy ones. The government rule is in fact a facility for foreigner's convenience. Do not think otherwise. 3. Burning crop residules in rural areas may take place here and there, just because China is still a developing country with more than 30 provinces and autonomas regions, besides relevant regulations are in execution.
I lived in China for a few years. I figured out the thing with the hotels. Prostitution is illegal in China (stop laughing!), but it's rampant anyways, and the hotels are running a brothel side business. If a foreigner comes, they have to scan our passports and send it to the police, and the police may stop by, and there's a lot of scrutiny on foreigners -- this is precisely what a hotel doesn't want if they have a hooker waiting in the lobby (which is exactly what I started noticing once it occurred to me). And this seems to be most hotels... once you're exploring beyond Shanghai or other 1st tier cities, it becomes a challenge to find law abiding hotels, even if you're using CTrip or something.

@@TheWideWorldofStadiums No off course not again. The last 2 dictatorships were totally not as cool as mine will be. I actually consider none of them rolemodels of any kind. My approach would realy be more like *António de Oliveira Salazar* . That guy knew how to dictator properly! So I'm aiming at establishing the coolest of all dicatorships in existence so far. As all educated people know, the best kind of government is a benevolent dictatorship. So my dictatorship is actually the best kind of government, according to academics! That's why I think democracy realy hasn't much of a chance in this competition, when the best government is allready just waiting right at our doorstep.

@@TremereTT Ok then. I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors.
sometimes we don't realize the power of shared sets of values. Taiwan, being a democracy, share so many values with Western democracies. This makes many aspects in life a lot easier. You can relate to the Taiwanese locals better, and vice versa they can relate to you. Government officials are civil servants to the public and can be criticized if they aren't doing their job. But in China the officials are the overlords and there's a general sense of fear, or at best, distance, from the people to the government. These things are hard for Westerners to comprehend.
It is the island people , they are better in every way compare to those across the Taiwan Strait. Making little Taiwan much , much better for human beings.
