I first studied Usui Reiki through the Reiki Alliance. I “accidentally” remotely healed a friend while I was only at Level 1. When the holy fire energy came to Reiki I took my first class (Holy Fire Karuna) from an ICRT licensed senior master teacher. I was so impressed that I came back to take Levels 1&2; ART and master. So it made perfect sense that level 1 and 2 are taught together.

Timing is so personal! Thank you for sharing your perspective. My favorite way of teaching Reiki was at a retreat center, where we took 4 days for Reiki 1, and 2 for Reiki 2! I generally spread the first level over two days, and it's fascinating to watch someone who doesn't think they 'have' it is told by the others how they love their treatments! I've had several Reiki students who took 1/2 on a weekend, and came to me to get clarity on the treatment form and symbols - and one decided to take Master with me, and spread their own teachings out more. It's such a gift to open the Reiki door, and connect with those students who align with us! 🙏

Intention activates Reiki.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will consider this for future videos. Reiki, like all energy, is controlled through conscious intention. Just set the intention to flow through your eyes, soften your focus, and the Reiki will flow. Similarly, you can flow Reiki through every cell of your body. You can make yourself a beacon of light. Just set the intention.

Can we remove attunement if we want to? Is there such thing?

I have never heard of removing an attunement. If you are not happy with your attunement considering overriding it with a more powerful attunement such as Holy Fire® Reiki.

I’m not saying this is the case with you, but as I explained to a student of mine. When you’re Reiki attuned you have a connection to the Holy Spirit from which the gift of healing comes from. Just as moths are drawn towards light, sometimes negativity is drawn towards our greater light. Clearing and shielding yourself should help with that.

Sometimes we pass through a period of confusion on our healing journey. We heal from the inside out. Please don’t give up. Know that you are on a path to healing. This is actually a good sign that Reiki has started to heal you.

Hawayo Takata came to Reiki with many health problems (uterine tumor, gallstones, appendicitis (and asthma from childhood) .... and said she crawled to the bathroom that first week of receiving 2x daily sessions ... and all the problems had reversed within 6-9 months! (And she had decided to study Reiki!) My master, in that lineage, bespoke at times Reiki sessions and Initiations will trigger healing crisis, and to observe phenomena - and keep doing Reiki! Mrs Takata's granddaughter Phyllis Furomoto recommended doing self Reiki AND receiving Reiki weekly when we can! And paying attention - might there be food sensitivities? Environmental issues? (Mold, air quality, change in vision?) That said - when one is experiencing frequent headaches and other health problems that aren't responding to sessions and self treatment - it's likely time to see a doctor!
