Fun fact: This Buddha statue was built by Indian traders as a gift to local people. Actually, when Indian traders travelled to the West for trade, their travelling path was from Kashmir to Afghanistan and then to other countries. But many times they got ambushed by robbers in Afghanistan. So, they hired local people as a guide and protectors. They were so happy with the local's help that they built a Buddha statue for them as a gift.

I guess in 200 BC, Hinduism started to decline and Buddhism started to rise in Afghanistan. In the 7th and 8th centuries, the Islamic invasion started and gradually it became an Islamic state.

These all statues are inspired from India. Basically we have similar(not in size) statues and sculptures in mathura, Sarnath, Amravati and many more….India has the richest culture that inspired everyone.

No....Indian Buddhist didn't make statues of Buddha until Greeks converts after Alexander's Invasions made Buddha statues . Amongst Indians both Hindus and Buddhists didn't make statues..... Hindus did Yagnas....while Buddhist while they did make stupas ....they were more like burial grounds....it's after Greek modelled Buddha on their Gods like Apollo and zeus did Indian started making Sclupture....or Hindus for that matter Temples and idol worship.... Skipped School, bro when this was taught?
