That's what annoys me the most. Like Spider-Man, Batman also has a long history in cinema that spans across multiple eras, generations and actors. The part about connecting to a generation is so accurate. Even though Michael Keaton is my favorite Batman, I barely knew anyone in their 20s who was excited to see him return in the role even if they liked the Burton Batman movies, whereas people my age were excited for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to return. People I know in their 30s and above who love the Keaton Batman also just didn't care about going to theaters as much as they used to. Bringing back Christian Bale as Batman alongside Keaton probably could have helped more, but that then creates some new problems since the Nolan movies were supposed to be set in the real world.

Everytime I watch Spider-man No Way Home, while I don't have nostalgia for the past films, I feel so much heart and I love it every single time. Seeing them together is one of the greatest things I've seen in film. I get that Michael Keaton was shown in the trailers because he's a side character and not a character who is in the film for 15-22 minutes like the 2 Spider-man. u r right about No Way Home handling their heroes better than The Flash but here are some things to keep in mind 1. The Flash was a movie made during 3 separate regimes of WB, and the 3 regimes wanted the movie to be something else which would push the DCEU instead of being a good movie... For No Way Home, things were comparatively smoother to make... 2. Every time I watch No Way Home, I see a plot hole, a part of me thinks that Sony didn't put much care into this as other projects... there's more plot conveniences and some stuff which makes me think the writers were clumsy and lazy whilst writing this movie which they knew were gonna be cash grab... but regardless, it is light years better than The Flash

The far more relevant issue is why more Flashes didn't show up. We had Ezra Miller (obviously) and the Jay Garrick-type Flash who apparently exists in the same world as George Reeves's Superman, but that was it. Brief glimpses of Rod Haase, John Wesley Shipp, Kenny Johnston, and Grant Gustin would have been cool. Heck, if they included Nicholas Cage as Superman, why not throw in Dan Aykroyd and Adam Sandler's SNL Flashes as well? lol

The 3 batmen failed because only 1 of them was well received (Keaton), another was so poorly received it ended up that continuity until Nolan rebooted it (Clooney), this, ignoring how he only appeared for a few seconds as Bruce Wayne and never as Batman, and another that was polarizing (Affleck). And none of them interacted. Meanwhile the 3 Spidermen were all well received, the closest one to being poorly received was Garfield and the blame was never on his performance but on the 2nd movie's abysmal script that was proto-Morbius, this with all of them interacting bounding over their experiences. Also the Batmen were part of a Flash movie that was about the Flash, the Spidermen were part of a Spiderman that was about Spiderman. Both were nostalgia bait but were approached in very different ways. The Clooney appearance looked like he was the last guy WB called since all the other refused due to how the DCEU was basically a dead corpse at that point. MCU was still alive at that point although if they keep going like this they might follow the same path.

I think your point about age ranges is a bit null. I was 15 when No Way Home dropped and I had people in school who I never would have thought to even care about Spider-Man excited for Maguire's and Garfield's cameos. Half the guys I knew went as soon as possible, which was opening weekend (I went opening night with two close friends). I just think No Way Home was better marketed and had people more hyped. Also just a better movie lol.

Another difference: Batman is usually the smartest person in the room. If three different Batmen are sharing the screen, the issue will come up of which one is supposed to be in charge. That's a question the movie can't answer without having SOME fans pissed off. Spider-Man CAN be the smartest person in the room, but he doesn't HAVE to be. So three Spider-Men can share the spotlight in a way that three Batmen can't.

Because it's very obvious that the three Batmen we're included mainly for nostalgia bait. Of course Spiderman NwH also banked on that but somehow, idk exactly how but they made it more natural and made it really essential for the mc's development. Unlike the Batmen, it reeks of nostalgia bait right from the start.
