Johnnydel is the only analyst that says it. Brock's anticipation eliminates the need for him to need an absolute cannon. I feel like qb's with strong arms are often poor at processing (Jackson, hurts) and rely on arm strength to deliver the ball late. While both ways work i prefer the ability to process because arm strength fades. I also like that he can go through his progressions quick. The game is becoming more and more backyard football with qb's running around but I think some of that is due to them not understanding scheme and depending on off schedule.

Not going to happen, and also not going to hurt the team. Other QB’s have taken top dollar and their teams haven’t struggled to bring guys in. But the days of bringing in some high priced FA are over for the smart teams.

Even if he wanted to (and I don’t think he should want to at the end of the day he’s an employee working a very dangerous job and as any employee should ask for what they’re owed) he wouldn’t be allowed to. The player’s union would step in if the 49ers and Brock came to a deal that was significantly under market value because it would hurt negotiating ability for other QBs across the league and potentially players on his own team.
@juanneri954117 сағат бұрын
I don’t understand why Purdy would take a pay cut. Literally every player on the 49ers wants market value.
@CampinSteve9 сағат бұрын
45 million would be an insult. 50-55m is a pay cut
@schizoidman79167 сағат бұрын
Projections are that he deserves $59-60. I would not be surprised if the 49ers offer between $50-55 and Purdy accepts it. The salary cap goes up every year. So a $60 million offer this year takes a smaller percentage of the salary cap that it did last year. California is a high tax state too. Well over half of what he gets will go to taxes.

Receivers weren’t getting open, O-Line wouldn’t allow much time for routes to develop, miscommunications with guys that were in the game that Purdy little to no time to train with, injuries, and him trying to make plays. You can ask a QB to create and make plays but it’s only good when things break down, but when it’s constantly happening mistakes obviously are more likely to happen.

I'm a Purday fan, but there's a reason you only had a couple highlights in man coverage and the coverage had to be soft to put in. If he beats man coverage, it's either bad coverage or a jump ball type situation. He doesn't seem to have the ball placement or velocity to consistently beat tight man coverage. If the WR doesn't break defender ankles, Purdy struggles.

Here's the fly in the ointment, though. The first few plays that you show, that's exactly what Brock seemed to be missing this past season. He was, too often, trying to make that big play happen instead of taking what the defense gave him. Plus, he was chronically throwing behind his receivers, even on slants, digs, etc. I love Brock, but I think making him the highest paid QB of all time will be disastrous for this team.

Honestly the 2024 season was best described by Kyle Shanahan. "Brock is the same as he always has been, it is just the team has gotten worse around him." The Line buckled way too easily and other than Kittle, he had no one he could get the ball to this year. No QB could make this offense work under these conditions and on top of that Kyle was way too cute with his schemes that require higher end talent to execute consistently which doesn't work well when your team is the most injured in football! Kyle needed to completely redo his schemes to account for his team but he never adapted. THAT is the difference between the 49ers and the Chiefs who had almost as many injuries to key positions. They adapted. Not on Purdy.
