@@1Mutton1 I agree with that. I guess it's good that I view all media with a critical eye now. I do wonder though if things will ever get better. @@corneliusmaze-eye2459 climate change issues in game of thrones? Lol. Yeah, it kinda sux you can't take so much on face value. If it's an issue I care about, I always do my own research. Two nights before the 2016 election she interviewed Shorten and was hostile, rude and basically called him a liar. The following night she interviewed Turnbull and smiled and laughed with him. Watch those interviews side-by-side if you can. I lost all respect for her after that. The sheer arrogance was appalling. If she wants to be a political player she should get herself elected.

As much as I agree with your stance on Sales timid interview of Turnbull, Unions in Australia have to bear some of the responsibility for the decline in union membership across the country. A large part (not all of course) of the union movement still thinks it's the 1970s and haven't caught up to the recent changes to the economy and the workplace. As the manufacturing industry has declined and traditional 9-5 'blue collar' jobs have disappeared, a new 'service' sector has emerged (cleaning, transport, hospitality, retail, aged care etc) with jobs that have lower pay rates, less security, more irregular hours and erratic conditions. And they seem to have little union power or representation or if they do, it doesn't show. Meanwhile a lot of unions are now run by a slick, bureaucratic-style management of university-trained middle-class executives and lawyers, some of whom have never actually worked at the jobs of the employees they are representing. On the other hand, the three-decade-long propaganda campaign waged by the Murdoch press to discredit and eliminate unions in Australia has been very successful and is another major factor. Another reason is the so-called economic 'boom' since the late 1990s (let's face it, much of it was simply that we got easier access to loans & credit), many workers have become complacent and that middle-class gentrification has dulled our alertness and our ability to detect when we're being screwed.
@brendanh81935 жыл бұрын
Man, Jordy, you missed it with the first question to Malcolm Turnbull. That was no "let's ease you in to your new job" question. It was a question that set the standard by which he was ultimately judged, and subsequently lost his job. In retrospect, you could say it was an assassin's question.
