👍 Nice comments and thank you for the PRO-Tip. I became addicted to the Buck 110 decades ago. Best folding knife I have ever owned. I had the wood inlays replaced with antler.

Sound like a damn good looking knife you have there. That's another advantage I overlooked. Yes you can replace those grips and make it a custom knife. Good job

@@Poductshowdownmy dad gave me his K-BAR the last time he left Vietnam in 69/70 and I had just bought my first 110. We would engrave and reshape the handles and compete with my buddies to come up with best tricked out handle. A small wet spot on a rag dipped in baby powder worked the best for me for cleaning up marks left in the brass and to put a killer shine to it. Tricked people into thinking they came from factory that way. Good memories.

@@donniegombel K- bar is another damn good knife I wouldn't turn down... Baby powder huh. Never heard of that. I may have to give it a try. In the Navy we use to use hot sauce and fine steel wool on stubborn brass.

Because it’s what a knife is supposed to be. It’s a cheap workhorse, and not a fidgety toy.

Completely subjective opinion not based in fact. Knives have come a long way in 70 years. Acting like that's not the case is intellectually dishonest.

I bought a 110 and 112 new back in 75’. Definitely a well made duty knife, but to my liking-Schrade’ made a better large folder in Carbon Steel. They also made a awesome 2 blade version also.

When you work outside like on a ranch or farm or similar, and you really, I mean REALLY use the knife as an everyday tool, not just fidget-flip it and open Amazon packages, then you intuitively know the difference between this knife and others.

110 is still the best value in a folding knife since 1964. The 112, is same, just a bit smaller. The two very best folding knives ever mass produced.
@Cal4mity20 күн бұрын
I love my 110, my mother gave it to me, it was one of my first knives, and probably the last one I'd part with willingly. It is however quite far from the best available. Modern locking mechanisms and materials produce lighter, faster, safer, and more durable knives. The 110 is an iconic piece of history but it just can't compete with what the manufacturing giants in the industry are producing today.
@Im_With_Stupid7 ай бұрын
It is a good knife, but it's well past time to upgrade the steel.
@jasonjulian16 ай бұрын
You can buy versions with s30v.
@Im_With_Stupid6 ай бұрын
@@jasonjulian1 Yeah, I know, but they're not standard production. They've released limited runs with different steels on occasion, but the base production steel is antiquated and actually a downgrade because they used to be made with 440C.
@jasonjulian16 ай бұрын
@@Im_With_Stupid Agreed. I have a 1970s era Buck 121 from my dad's collection, it's 440C and man is that a hard steel. Tough to sharpen (which is why they went to 420HC), but it holds that edge for what seems like decades!

The 110 and 112 are good designs but made with junk steel in my opinion
@waynebennett80657 ай бұрын
Buck should realise by now that having the lock button at the rear instead of in the middle like on a spyderco endura or native 5 on a lock back is a very very poor design. Other than that yes its a good knife if you dont also carry a miltitool like many do today. It’s weight lends itself to only carrying it
@Roninforged7 ай бұрын
Buck has been being tested in the real world from wars to jungles longer than most knife companies have been in existence, they know what they are doing for sure. I carried and used my Dad’s 110 through ever deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan, it performed every task I asked of it, and it did it in any environment, bit your experience may be different😎👍🇺🇸
@jasonjulian16 ай бұрын
In 60 years of production, I don't think a single 110 lock has failed due to the design or location of it. It's not a stupid design if it works. And it's worked for longer than some other knife companies have even been in business.
@waynebennett80656 ай бұрын
I didnt say it was a failure issue. I was referring to ease of use its much easier faster and just makes more sence to not have the release at the back of the top of the handle. When its in middle easier to access by far and just make more sence. No one has to agree. But maybe try a spyderco back lock beside a buck and compare. Maybe you will still think the buck is better. Maybe not. Just my opinion
@Palerider20236 ай бұрын
This video and these comments are an example of how an entire group of people can be factually incorrect. Maybe at one time this was top tier, but no longer. Not a bad knife, but far from the best, or best for value. Its not easily serviceable, the steel is…what it is. The cost to performance ratio of knives has improved too much for these statements to he true.
@Herne00116 ай бұрын
Open it one handed and close it again one handed. Obsolete tech imo. Would only use if there was literally nothing else on offer.
@Poductshowdown6 ай бұрын
A valid point but the book 110 was design more for strength than speed. However after you use it for a while that blade will fly right out with the flick of the thumb. As for closing it with one hand I don't know that I've ever tried but I would imagine it could be mastered with a little practice
@anthonyrollins98257 ай бұрын
the 110 is average at best 420hc is bested by 7cr17mov any knife with 8cr13 or better steel is a better blade , now you buy a buck you pay for the warranty and it is the best in the industry.
