To celebrate our 10th video and to discuss the idea of value in vintage collecting, I explain a bit of why the channel is named value and what that means to me. I share an example of how I collect and view my collection when faced with card options.

Thank you, my friend. Variety makes it fun, but also like trying to boil the ocean with interests in so many different directions.

Couldn't agree more on your viewpoints. You know that's exactly how I collect as well. Some people like to upgrade some of their cards later, all good. I've been doing the exact opposite and 'down grade' into presentable low end examples. Vast majority of the fun for me is just having the card, so more cards for the same dollars 😃

Absolutely we are of the same mind! The hunt for a nice 1 or 2 is just as tough as finding a centered 5 or crisp 7 of many cards. Many of the cards we snag in a 1 would be impossible in a mid to high grade example. Looking forward to getting you on here to talk pictures and postcards!

The origin story! Sweet Cobbs. I'm so limited in funds I only have two players written on my T-206 want list. Cobb and Mathewson. I passed up on a Cobb SGC 2 last year and I regret it. Great Hornsby as well, wow... 5 full years before the Goudey. I'm a RC HOF PC guy and always shoot for at least 1 grade over the decade when affordable, to answer your question at the end. Big time cards, man!

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I have a few cards graded near the top of the registry or above the norm atleast and there is something special to having a card that is rare due to condition. A few of those will get to be huge cards with grade and player considered for the RC. Sounds like you are building a strong collection!

@@Valuevintagecards-Aaron You bet. Very nice, what you've shown is impressive for sure. My collection would be considered strong for modern-2019 but I need to pare that down to raise funds for the vintage RCs I need. I also try to buy raw and grade whenever possible to save. The Vintage HOF RCs I bought years ago have increased a bunch though. Frank Robinson, Luis Aparicio, and Killebrew for example, but they are also 7s. Looking forward to the content!

T205 Kid Elberfeld is my only baseball card from the tobacco era (i have a couple Redman portraits from the 50’s.) i eschewed baseball early on in the junk wax era in favor of musch scarcer early football and basketball, if I could find it! I’m happy to have found what I have!

Talk about value! Early basketball and football seem to be so underappreciated in the hobby. From the investment and value side, either they will maintain the niche pricing or explode as folks realize how affordable and scarce those beautiful cards actually are.

@@Valuevintagecards-Aaron I am happy with that decision… learning about the players in the 40’s and 50’s has been really interesting. So many unanswered questions, so few relics. I am excited to hear what KZbinrs will have to say about the videos I post. …Tempted to create a Football card Hall of Fame challenge… just everyone’s personal first ballot 16 cards or something? I was excited to see the hobby rally around the baseball card Hof voting, but the reveal didn’t excite me really. I do enjoy everyone having their personal opinions discussed, and hearing about people who cherish “Commons”. I have a few commons videos in the pipeline. 👍😎

@@mackeymintle66 very cool idea! Seeing more of the old football and basketball cards would be welcomed. I know that is an area where I could use some education and guidance on both cards and players.
