An important fact that the video mentions but people still miss (clickbait thumbnail doesn't help either), is that there's no way to kick an EU member state. The question is whether to put restrictions on them, not kick them out.

Indeed. On the other hand, you can cut their access to EU funds (which only works for net beneficiary of the EU budget, France or Germany wouldn't care much), and kick them out of Shenghen or suspend them for the common agricultural policy. This basically removes most of the advantages of the EU.

From the United States of America: The breacking news from channel NCB says that, the CIA has intercepted secret information leaked from the FSB. A senior CIA officer on condition of anonymity said that Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban and Russian Federation President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in their last face-to-face meeting in the Kremlin and then in the frequent secret phone calls that followed, some of which were intercepted, they set up the plan for Hungary's exit from the EU and NATO. Now the plan is ON HOLD due to the war in Ukraine. Once the war ends and, Ukraine ceases to exist as a country, Hungary's exit from the EU will be much easier because, as Vladimir Vladimirovich said, transit through Ukraine will no longer be necessary for Hungary. In other words, transit fees, (I'm sorry Ukrainians), will be eliminated. Therefore, according to CIA sources, Hungary will leave the EU and move back somewhere in Russia. The CIA does not know the exact place, but it is assumed that it would be exactly where the Hungarians migrated 1000 years ago. Vladimir Vladimirovich awarded Victor with a piece of land of approx. 326,000 km.sq and which will look exactly like the map of Great Hungary. The CIA also has this information that, as soon as the Hungarians arrive and settle in their ancient place where they left 1000 years ago, they will no longer pay for electricity, oil and natural gas. All these goods will be offered to them for free by Vladimir Vladimirovich and the brotherly Russian people as a sign of high appreciation for the friendship he has with Victor and the Hungarian people. However, there is a great concern regarding the movers. Moving companies in Hungary are in great need of hiring movers. Help Wanted ads for the employment of movers are everywhere in Hungary. The Slovaks, their neighbors in the North, heard about this great demand for movers from Hungary and tens of thousands already applied to do this job and they said that will do the job for free! News are coming from their neighbors from the West (Austrians) and those from the South (Croats and Serbs), they would be ready to help them with tens of thousands, also as volunteers! Nothing is known about the Romanians, who are their neighbors on East side, but it is heard that they would also be available to lend a helping hand. Can't believe it? BREXIT is gone... HUEXIT is almost done... and what will be next for EU?

It would be interesting to see what the neighbouring EU countries (in this case Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia) would do if Hungary were to leave the EU, and how long they would stay in the EU. The incredible migratory pressure would be on them, Hungary would train the migrants to their borders and the EU would tell them to solve it within their borders. As it did with Hungary in 2015. They talk about distributing 30,000 migrants a year among all EU members at some point. There was a day when more than 10,000 arrived in one day!!! In one year almost 300.000 came! In a country of 10.000.000 inhabitants. They told Hungary to keep them inside the borders but without violence. People who do not want to stay there. HOW??? The whole EU is a mindless brainwashing machine. No wonder the Hungarian people easily see the EU as the enemy. Imagine anyone doing that to their country, town or home.

I got lost right at the beginning. How is a Hungarian law sanctioning foreigners aiding illegal migration a breach of Human rights and EU values? I also disagree with the migrant quota. If there are countries that think we need migrants and decide to not stop those migrants at the border, and countries that think we don't, than the migrants should be split only between countries supporting migration, not all countries. The proposal would likely increase the amount of illegal migrants. Not to mention there are no economical migrants who would stay in Hungary, even if Hungary accepted the proposal. That is not why they migrated here.

@@user-kh2wc8nx1f Hungary's always free to leave the EU, no one's coercing anyone into anything. Don't make it sound tyrannical, because it's not. Migrants come. That's a fact. Whether it's good or bad doesn't even matter, they come and they will keep coming in the coming decades. Legally or otherwise. So far, building walls has never stopped migrants from coming, not in Europe, not in the US, and not within Africa and the Middle East. So, now, what do we do ? You wanna stop the migrations into Europe ? Good luck. It's not just a moral issue or something like that. People have crossed thousands of miles to come into Europe, they won't stop at a wall with cops. Knowing that, it is indeed unfair that some countries, namely border countries (Italy, Greece, Spain) and especially developped countries (Germany, France) have to welcome every single immigrants that come into the EU. So yes, Hungary has to do its share. Or, they leave, I'm fine with that, my taxes won't pay for Orban's administration anymore. But Hungary can't have, as we say in France, "the butter and the money from the butter". They don't want to contribute to the EU ? Why the hell should we pay for them, then ?

I think a process which could ultimately lead to them losing all influence and right to participate in the EU while still having to pay their membership fees makes sense. They will then themselves have to make the decision to leave, or to align with rule of law, freedom of the press and other basic values stemming from the French revolution. They should attach a timeframe for this with an end date where Hungary is faced with complete internal EU isolation or to leave. This should not take more than two years from now. You need to understand both parts, but in the end, if it doesn't work out, something must be done. Hungary has the right to set its own laws, we're not the United States of Europe, even in the USA, each state has their own laws, parliament and constitution. If laws are imposed by a foreign parliament, they are in their right to reject it, whether we like it or not. The European Chapter of human rights, which is the chapter the EU invokes when speaking about LGBT rights hasn't changed its wording since it was written in the 1980s, at that time, gay marriage was illegal in all member states, and in countries like Ireland, homosexuality was a crime. So you can understand Hungary when they call BS on it. But at the same time, if all member states, but one have the same mindset, then they cannot be stopped by a rogue member. If the vast majority wants these migrant quotas, to re-interpret the chapter of human rights to include LGBT rights and Hungary doesn't want to, then something radical must be done, because it's not doing any good to both sides.

Excellent points, but the EU elite tends to just change the rulebook all the time, and often with little real control. decisive oversight or informed consent from the parliaments of individual member states. in practice, very much is decided through summit backroom deals, ready-made negotiations, political IOU:s or just strong-arming against smaller member states like Hungary, Austria or Sweden.

The downside to these grand coalitions. Seriously though, when you group this many countries all together; all with differing interests, issues, concerns and priorities, vastly different cultures, peoples, histories, traditions and the like, into some grand project like the EU, you're bound to get problems like this. Today it's Hungary and Poland. Tomorrow? Who knows? Is it reasonable to expect them all to see eye to eye on everything? Is it reasonable to ask that if a much bigger and more powerful country like France or Germany were the one out of step with the rest, whether there would be such tumult? Finally, one must evaluate the benefits that the troublemaker brings versus the negatives and what the consequences might be for expelling or ostracizing them. Very often, you find yourself in a partnership or alliance with another nation who for some reason, is a constant pain in the butt. You often find yourself asking - "is this really worth it?" Prime example - Turkey and NATO. So the questions become 1) what CAN I do about this and 2) what are the possible ramifications if I do? Even if you could expel Turkey from NATO or Hungary from the EU... which you can't, so why are we even talking about it?... what other nation do you suppose would be right there like a dog at dinnertime waiting to scoop them up before the ink had even dried? Sometimes there is no reason to stay aligned with a country other than to keep them out of the orbit of another much worse one. But that's very often a damned good reason, despite how much of a nuisance they might be in the moment.

At the same time, they want to please 2/3 of the population with actually keeping our country at running, but that requires EU money, so at the same time, he doesn't want to leave, and he knows that western politicians are only throwing bad words at him, because not that many things can be done to stop him.

The EU should ask themselves the following questions first : 1) Why VETO-system ? Why does the EU blame countries from making use of this loophole ? 2) What exactly is EU-law ? If a country joins the EU after a long auditing and approval process and agrees to the existing EU-law, is this country bound to accept new regulations passed, after this country joined ? F.e. immigration quota ? 3) Is the EU legislative prepared to face political changes in countries, not compliant to the original EU-philosophy ?

Hungarian guy here. Reading comments like these makes me so sad. "Kick them out" you say, "withold the payments" you write, while you guys seem to forget two things at least. First one: Hungary joined the EU in 2004, and the rules we agreed were quite different then. No centarlized foreign policy. No compulsary quotas or other forced manipulation of population policies for example. Btw yes: Hungary has a different approach to this question then most Western states who colonized half of the world for centuries... Second one: those payments are not gifts! There was an agreement in 2004. We give you our market, let you buy (and destroy) our production capacities for merely cents for you, and most importantly: let you leach the most qualified part of our population (doctors, engineers etc). @@zalanelo9681 All changes to the EU over the years, from economic to political union, were voted on and approved by the member countries (and in some cases through referendums). While you might not like what it is now (I personally think it's better now than it was), when you talk about what the EU was "meant" to be, that's very misleading. It has constantly evolved, and is still evolving. If someone doesn't agree with where it is or where it's going, there's always the route the UK too (though look how badly that went for them).

Not disagreeing with your view on the Hungarian government but I don't think that It would be proper to kick out an European nation from the EU, especially in a time where the continent need to stand unified against the great powers of the globe that are increasingly trying to weild their influence as a sword. It is important to remember that there will be a Hungary after Orban as well and that the people living in Hungary certainly don't need further outside pressure to continue the errosion of the quality of their lives. Additionally, the Hungarian stance towards Russia and the conflict in Ukraine is largely linked to their dependency on Russian energy exports and It is important to remember to remember that Hungary is tragically not a country in a financial position to give Putin the middle finger in the same way as more wealthy EU countries have done.

I guess you are not aware that it is the Eastern European member states who are trying to push forward the EU to be more decisive, and actually the Western European members (and of course Hungary) are the ones trying to hold it back. Do you know why? Because all the Eastern European members were occupied and bullied by the Soviet Union/Russia, and they know (except again, Hungary) what a grave danger Russia is to European security. Your argument is like the Soviet Union propaganda from the '80s.

It can also leave whenever it wants, owing that the internal conditions are met. It's the same principle of any functioning democracy, you have to abide by the decisions of a judge, and by the votes of the majority. I also think this is a result of disaffection by Eastern European countries with Germany and France, constantly trying to dominate the European context, especially (generally, not always) Germanic-speaking countries often following the latter two’s lead, which don’t necessarily get the cultural context of Slavic, and other Eastern European cultures, with (in my opinion) this cultural disconnect also hindering as much agreement between the two spheres, with Southern Europe kind of in the middle, depending on country

(As a Hungarian...or at least I think I am) When I read or hear here and there: "just kick them out..." I feel so homeless and abandoned. I feel like Orbán took my home in a figurative sense and I became a monster just because my nationality is Hungarian, meanwhile I don't count as a "real" Hungarian in my own country, because I lean to the left from the center. Most of the time I just sit in silence and mourn. This powerlessness is paralyzing. And the saddest part is, if the opposition parties somehow could take more power or the government, the other half of the people would feel the same as I feel now. This is the tragedy of this situation, there is no lesser of two evils, there is only one big evil planted in our head to spread fear. :(
