With that logic, the slave trade wasn’t racist it’s actually just showing how much they love black people and their physical attributes

I make counter points against my claims in the video But this isn’t a good one at all

You're making a good point about jealousy being a driving factor of their actions, but I think to outright say that the family isn't racist is pretty unserious.

Appreciate your comment the title was more to draw you in to the actual points You wouldn’t have clicked on the this video if the title was “I think the family in get out might be jealous”😂😂

You state, "It shows that while they might not hate black people they view them as objects to be controlled and possessed". You even go on to state, "There are clear elements of traditional racism present ..." And yet your thesis is arguing that you don't think the family are racist because they have a form of "twisted admiration" towards black people? As such, it seems you haven't really thought through what you are arguing, that even in your own text you are in fact (seemingly unknowingly) arguing the opposite of your thesis. For what you think you are arguing only makes sense if it is based on a limited understanding and incorrect narrow definition of racism: that an individual / family can ONLY be called racist if they exhibit signs of HATRED towards another race. That's not how this works.

I agree with everything you are saying and that’s why I make counter points for my own claims It’s more of a theory video and less of this is exactly what I think it is I appreciate you tho

@@flexv2629 I appreciate you too. I'm just finding it hard (especially considering your counter-claims and agreement with everything I've said) to understand how you can still think the family in that movie aren't racist...? I mean, you haven't provided an argument to the contrary that actually supports your theory, other than them not exhibiting any signs of hatred towards black people, you know? So aye, please do explain further? I'm genuinely not being snarky and really am curious. :)

@@svensvenkill I guess to explain further the title is truly clickbait and knew people would click on and be mad and confused about the video is more of a concept video obviously written from a bias perspective but not a full scope of how I feel about the whole thing

@@flexv2629 also, sure, they aren't choosing anyone of any so called "race" to take over their bodies, and thus they seem to prefer black bodies. But is this NOT them thinking that physically black people are "naturally" healthier, faster, age better, etc (itself a racist assumption), and so not so much as admiration and "wanting to be black" as them choosing what they think is essentially their superior minds being transplanted into superior physical vessels? Just look at how Grandpa enjoys running in his new body and thinks he is faster because his new body is black (and not younger, etc)... i.e. it's all rather like (as they see it) forcibly ousting the current occupiers of a better built house because the original occupants are somehow not worthy of occupying it themselves, and they are doing so at a point when their own house (body) is on the cusp of collapsing, no? I mean, it's not as though the family are doing the consciousness transplant when they are teenagers and then going out into the world without any previous accrued privilege (money, connections, etc), right? As though they think merely occupying a black body will in and of itself give them an advantage because they admire black people and think they are superior, no?

@@flexv2629 ah, so your video and title is clickbait and so you have been dishonest for clicks? Mate, really? You're better than that. You're clearly smart and (as you've just admitted this without any prompting) you seem like someone who means well. So yeah, don't rely on gimmicks. You don't need them. Aim higher, comrade. Stay gold and keep on keeping on. 👊

Racism is not just: "Uh dark skin you bad, me white skin me better" Racism actually means treating people differently depending on their perceived race. This includes admiring one race because admiring a race for certain attributes means that other races don't have these attributes. The whole idea that there are different races and people can be categorized in these different races and therefore they have certain attributes. That is the problem. Racism is a mutation from the wrong assumption, that you can tell what kind of person someone is just by looking at them. The truth is: People can be very different from their first impression and that is one theme of this movie (the family). Another theme of the movie would be, that even admiring people for their race can cause damage. After all, the family takes over the bodies from the black people Because they admiring them.
