Kelce is like what Stephen Curry does for his team. You triple cover him or you let the Chiefs continue to drive. Just his presence alone is enough to be a valuable depth piece. He doesn't even actually need to catch. But, you also cannot just let him go. Kelce is more dangerous without the ball than he is with the ball. Because you just don't know what he is going to do next or the route he will go. He is great because he understands the coverage of the defense and they know this so he is a knowledgeable threat. Possibly the best to ever do it in his position. His style is unorthodox, but it is perfect for KC because they are able to switch up the play and extend it from the original call as needed. We have seen this time and time again. Since he is able to do this you can stretch the middle of the field with another and also add a deep threat. It also opens up for jet sweeps and the running back to make potential gains as well.

if teams get burned enough times for doubling Travis and leaving guys like Rice and Worthy in 1-on-1s eventually they will stop doing it, and that is when Travis is going to start eating. Heck, even in the first couple games this year, his numbers would be way better if every time he got the ball wasn't erased by a penalty. I think he got the ball 5 or 6 times vs Cincy but only 1 play actually counted.

Personally, I think it is partly trying to break in the new offensive guys like Worthy. They pushed for this guy and really want him to work out. They also were hoping that Hollywood would be their main guy and he is out. Worthy has to be seasoned fast. They also want to push Rice. He is capable of great catches and is a good dodger around the other team players and is fast. This is a guy that has real potential to be great. That is why they stuck with him during his car racing episode. the Chiefs are protecting and probably helping him. That means plays by Mahomes. Travis is a known great. They probably figure they can ease on him the first part of the season to push the other guys to step up with Hollywood out. Travis will be back in the groove a few games later on. People and pundits have to just cool their jets.

Why is everyone making a big deal about Travis? He's double and triple covered. Andy's job is to win games and ultimately the SB - that means long term strategy. The season is a marathon. He's going to diversify the team's weapons and play them all. Also, it's the beginning of the season. The newer or younger players need more touches and to get up to speed faster - work out the kinks. Travis is a veteran, he doesn't need that time.

I think its a combination of, both week 1 and 2s defenses know the chiefs well and were on him double quite often as usual and the Chiefs have young guys to take care of and develop so early in the season its worthwhile to do that and develop other threats. If teams start to fear Rice and throw doubles at him or fear Worthy and have to open the middle more to cover deep Travis will be more free to do things. For now just like last year teams are only scared of Kelce beating them so they are saying "Dont let him, make the rest" and if the rest do it through the first part of the season than Travis will eat later. Also... he is older so beating the double up on almost every play is not as easy as he used to make it look. Now if he is invisible by like week 6-7 then we can talk about it some more imo ... which i doubt will happen as he had a big play called back even so it wouldnt be a conversation

He's the one guy the defense won't allow to beat them. By any means. I don't think any Chiefs fans or players care. I doubt he gives two fucks if he's getting the ball. I think he proved as much last year by sitting out when he could've easily beat another record. They are winning. That's what he cares about.

Maybe not getting the ball for a few games is the consequence for pushing your coach during the super bowl

They are doubling him on certain downs where he excels at with dbs so forcing it when you have other targets that are competent

Cause the defenses are taking Kelce away, and Mahomes is gun shy cause the offensive tackles situation is still not fixed

People saying Kelce is being doubled, thats why the slow play. Kelce has beaten double coverage for years now. If you think back about the chiefs success (seen every game since 84', except 1), think how many times Kelce bailed Mahomes out on 3rd down. Soooo many times over thier successful run. This is a Tom Brady/Belicheck type question. Who's more important to the success? Mahomes or Kelce? Looks like Kelce. Mahomes looks pedestrian and marginal without his safety net all these years.

To be fair. It's been almost all the TE's in fantasy. A few outliers but majority have been way underperforming fantasy wise.
