Thank you for your review. I have the 1.6l petrol version of it and definitely agree with you. It is a problem-free and smooth car to drive. However, you don't wanna drive it more than 100 km because it has boring interior along with bad sitting position and uncomfortable seats. Yet, the worst thing for me is the gear ratio. You just get 80 km per hour when the tachometer shows 2500. When you wish to drive fast, the engine becomes really noisy due to lack of 6. gear. Economy is satisfactorily good in city driving.

My sister has had hers for a year now, bought in 2019 1.4 petrol (57 plate) All the windows work I get mid 40s mpg when I drive hers driving normally. Its spacious, safe cheap to buy and run but not fun to drive. I'd recommend it for an economical reliable car. My Focus 1.6 petrol 53 plate gets 42mpg and that's normal to enthusiastic driving.

I recently helped my friend pick one of these and honestly I think this is a very good car. It's very unassuming in appearance, but the 1.6 is 90kW+ and that is plenty for everyday driving. I'd pick this over a VW Golf from that era any day, not just because they are cheaper but also because they are just better built cars (with the exception of interior materials, but who gives a hoot about soft touch materials in this segment). I thought the i30 wasn't particularly noisy compared to the 323s from the late 90s and early 2000s that I used to drive. It's not nearly as silent as my ID.3 of course, but you can locally buy a decent one for every 6 month's lease.

For the reliability and servicing costs, plus the extreamly attractive purchase costs, I don't think you can buy a better car! on a tight budget these offer amazing value 😁

Good honest assessment here. I've had one of these same year, same engine, since 2015. The fuel is pretty bad tbh. The gearing is pretty low and the engine is pretty much what was in the old accent model. I have to say I've kept it because it's not needed anything, other than new tires and pads in that time. If it had six speed box like the newer model, it would suit me just right.

I would of thought the i30 was nicer than the Proceed. With Hyundai being the parent or atleast senior relation to Kia, and the pre 2009/10 i30 being built in South Korea as opposed to Slovenia. Hyundai themselves marketing the i30 as "Premium", designed with a former BMW design team hence the BMW 1 series mk1 looks. The Kia was marketed as more a "Sporty" "Value" brand. But from online owners reviews it seems the i30 is liked more by owners, is rated better than the Proceed in terms of comfort and has less issues in regards to steering and suspension components.

I just found the i30 to be a cheaper option personally, compared with the Kia, the build quality seems far better.

Try the hyundai 2.0L coupe, they are a well built, well equipped, tidy handling car that drive as smooth as a celica. Had mine for three years and love it.

Value around £1250 & £2500, fast forward to 2023 and I'm Looking at this exact model (2010 1.4 base model) with 110k on it and it's £2500 which appears to be the going rate for these in today's market, higher spec models of similar age and mileage are 3k plus

Used car market has gone a bit crazy over the last 24 Months for sure, I could pick up an R56 Mini Cooper S for £2000 easy 4 Years ago, the same car now.... is over £3000? (bear in mind also...Hyundai used to be a joke brand, but are now far more attractive as an option) but it will come down to more sensible pricing I'm sure, although I haven't managed to find anything at auction that made any financial sense for bloody ages! people are paying more for crashed cars, than non crashed? there must be a LOT of dealers who just deal with insurance claim motors now I guess, and they can command higher prices, so in turn bump up the prices beyond where anyone else can even sensibly bid. Thanks for your comments 😁
@101projects2 Жыл бұрын
I agree the market is saturated with insurance repaired cars right now, Always worth doing thorough background checks with car vertical or similar before buying, on the plus side my 53 reg fiesta 1.4Tdi I purchased for £500 7 years ago, that I'm looking to sell on, still in relatively good condition for 175k, with no obvious or major issues is till with at least £500 today. 👍

Can't fault on this car's reliability and is sensible very practical hatch, the downside is on the motorway at 70 you're doing 3500rpm and it makes your ears bleed, it would benefit massively if had a 6th gear.
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes Жыл бұрын
Agreed it does rev high with the smaller engine, but I think most engines of this size. are placed in much smaller cars, and even they struggle, this is a big car for a tiny engine, I think a Turbo would help, a lot of 1.0 engines use a Tubo now to help them out 😁

As you change cars often, do you get hit by lots of admin fees for changing insurance policy?
@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes4 жыл бұрын
YES!! It is a pain in the ass having to pay anywhere up to £60 just to change cars, but I can't find a better solution yet, except using a trader policy, and I'm not a trader so not really an option for me.

Engine technology and shorter gearing may explain the economy issue, they were until very recently a little behind in technology. Decent enough reliable car but very boring.
