It's too expensive for me. My XP 2.0 still rides perfectly. I bet I have sold way over a hundred bikes for them just by people asking what it is at places like the grocery store. I even made some cards with the phone number & my name but nobody ever remembers to say who told them to call. I don't mind. I just bought the Meroca handlebar system. Gonna install it today.

I'm really interested in pre-ordering this but just want to know what your thoughts were on handling/stability? I noticed there's no suspension which isn't a huge deal if it cuts down on weight. However, do you feel this bike can ride safely on a gravel path past 20mph?
@EbikeProducts
@EbikeProducts 4 ай бұрын
The tires are only 2.5” wide, so as long as the gravel isn’t too slippery and there’s more packed dirt than small loose rocks, I would not hesitate to ride at 20mph on it. However I do believe this ebike was intended for mostly paved path commuting. Without a chain, the belt drive system makes it feel even more solid than ever but it’s the tires that should be changed before a lot of off-road riding since the stock tires are smooth road tires. I do believe Lectric will offer a front suspension option after the initial launch, but you need to verify with Lectric on that.

SEMI automatic trans. It doesn't auto downshift unless you stop pedaling. It's also a purpose built bike for city cruising. Which is confusing since it doesn't fold. City dwellers are often cycling to work and live in an apartment or condo. With the name One I was expecting a combination of popular features from several of their models. That wasn't the case at all. About the only feature it does share is the folding handlebars. I'm sure it will be a good bike but if it's anything like the last 2 (XP 3,0 and XPeak) there will be some wrinkles that need ironed out. Note: they still haven't offered a real fix for he XPeak yet.

I was on a metro rail in Tempe Arizona while at the Lectric event when someone came on the metro with an XP 2.0 and folded it and sat down. The Metro driver made a few announcements saying that ebikes were not allowed on the train trying to get him to get off. I didn't realize some places don't allow them. The guy just ignored him, lol. He wasn't blocking anyone and other non-electric bikes were getting on and off and those took more room as they weren't foldable.

Totally makes sense. I too throttle a lot more than pedal. Love the term ‘Throttle Jockey’! You’re right that gear shifting wouldn’t be worth it for you, and maybe me too, but the power of this ebike is insane and that would be worth it along with dead quick starts at a dead stop if I decided to help it. I honestly often put most of my bikes in high gear and leave it there, but this is a bike I may actually utilize the gears for more efficiency.
@srobeck77
@srobeck77 3 ай бұрын
Actually there is way less to fix with a belt and internal transmission for the gears. With the manual, you have sprockets, cassettes, and a derailer that breaks down. And it's even worse wear for lazy people that leave it in high gear and never shift

I think there is an indicator of what gear you might be in on the app while your synced, but I’m not totally sure about that. LOL! I totally get it, but this sensor is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. It has almost 100 magnets that makes it super sensitive equal to a torque sensor. I could be wrong, but I believe the auto shifting drive train works best with this setup. I’ve been liking the PWR system a lot better than a torque sensor as you don’t need to sweat as much to go faster and can still help the bike if you want more exercise any time you want. In my opinion, it’s the best of both worlds now and only getting better. Nonetheless, I totally get why some may prefer a traditional torque sensor, but this Lectric One could change a lot of minds as it gets more popular in the market.

1. There are many ebikes on Amazon that cost between $500 and $800, and you can buy good ebikes from reputable companies for between $800 and $1500. The most popular ebike sold in the US is probably the Lectric XP which costs $999. The price of the average new light vehicle in the US was $47,338 in early 2024, so it is idiotic to argue that ebikes are too expensive when compared to cars. 2a. Lithium mining is polluting, but much less polluting than extracting, refining and burning petroleum. 18% of the world's premature deaths are caused by fossil fuel emissions. If you look at lithium mines in places like Greenbushes, Australia and Atacama, Chile, there is nothing like the tar sands of Alberta, Canada, the half century of oil spills in Ogoniland, Nigeria, or even the fracking happening in the US. Only an idiot would argue that we shouldn't use ebikes for environmental reasons. An ebike emits roughly 18 grams of CO2 per passenger-km, compared to 8 g. for a normal bike, 99 g. for an electric car, 149 g. for a hybrid car, and 210 g. for a gasoline car (see: TNMT, 2021, The environmental impact of today’s transport types). Using ebikes instead of cars for transportation eliminates a huge amount of pollution. 2b. Lithium is not mined by children. In 2022, global lithium production was produced by Australia (51.2%), Chile (26.0%), China (15.5%), Argentina (4.5%) and other (2.8%). None of lithium mining is done in a way where child labor is likely. Pumping lithium rich water out of salt flats (Chile, Argentina, Tibet and Nevada) and hard rock mining of spodumene (Australia) and lepidolite (Yichun) is not the kind of mining where child labor is likely, and there are no news reports of it happening. It is true that roughly 25,000 children are involved in mining cobalt in the Congo, and the most common battery chemistry in ebikes is NMC, but most of the cobalt is being eliminated as the industry increasing switches to formulas with less cobalt (NMC111 -> NMC532 -> NMC622 -> NMC811). Most lithium batteries in the future will switch to LMFP and other types of LFP derivatives which have no cobalt, and the move to sodium ion batteries in long term will eliminate all the metals but iron and aluminum, which are very abundant and easily mined. 3. Ebikes with 750 watt motors (like this one being reviewed) can usually handle steep grades with throttle only. The Lectric XP with a 500W motor (1000W peak) is a good hill climber. Yes, there are a lot of ebikes sold in Europe with just 250 watt motors which can't handle hills, because European regulations don't allow more powerful motors, but most ebikes sold in the US have 500W or larger motors and they should be able to handle most hills. 4. The average American driver drives 30.1 miles per day. Most Americans don't need an ebike that goes 10 times farther than they drive on an average day. 5. 100 km per hour is an extremely dangerous speed on an ebike. Most US states limit throttles on ebikes to 20 miles per hour and pedal assistance to 28 miles per hour. In most of Europe, throttles aren't allowed and pedal assistance is limited to 25 km per hour, so you are insane to demand that ebikes go 4 times faster. You must have a death wish. 6. If we suffer an apocalypse, it is far more likely that you will be able to get electricity from local wind turbines and solar panels to charge an ebike than you will be able to get gasoline to run an ICE vehicle. With an ebike, you can always pedal it if it runs out of a charge, but with a two ton car, you won't be able to move it without oil refineries and a gasoline/diesel distribution network. 7. Considering that you can recharge ebikes at home, at work or anywhere that has a standard electrical socket, why do you need to recharge in 5 minutes? Unlike cars, you don't need to take ebikes to special fueling stations to recharge, so there is less need to be able to recharge quickly.

1. Nobody cares what you paid for you first car with 150k miles+ back in 1984 2. Again, no such thing as 300 miles on a single charge, with optional gas power, or 5 min charging. This is a very child-like rant, not reality based that will never happen. 4. Start living your life in reality. Not sci-fi. No you cannot go live on Mars in the near future either just because you think its an eco-friendly good idea. You’re right that most ebikes sold in the US are made (or at least assembled) in China, but I’m pretty sure the Lectric One was actually designed from the ground up at Lectric Headquarters. The Pinion gearing system is German made and I heard someone say it might actually be manufactured in Germany. Final assembly of the Lectric One is likely in China or Vietnam. All that being said, as much as the Chinese are typically involved in some part of making e-bikes, many designs start outside of China. The European ebike companies often design all their own e-bikes and non electric bikes.
