Why the Newborn Stage is So Hard for Me

We spent a great day visiting the park we went to when I first surprised Austin I was pregnant with our second baby. It was crazy to see how much Micah has grown in the last year, and watching the old footage of her was so fun. Paige has not been sleeping through the night, which is really hard for Jess to cope with. She needs regular sleep, and when she doesn't get enough it really places a toll on her mental health. We're really looking forward to and excited that all of that might change soon, and we'll be able to move on to the next milestone!

Halloween idea: This year instead of taking her trick or treating... stage the house almost like Easter... Candy and goodies inside of black and orange 'Halloween' eggs and make a spooky basket for her to hunt for!! I remember her LOVING searching for all the Easter eggs! That way she can still run around in a costume and get goodies💕

I have a 3.5 month old baby and what's been a game changer for us and sleep is really paying attention to the wake window (1.5-2 hours) to put down for a nap before overly tired and following an eat, play, sleep routine.

Oh, the joys of napping, wheather it's a good one for the kiddos or for the Mama. I hear you : good sleep is crucial for mental health. My baby girl is 3 months on the 12th. Older started 1st grade in class. Definately some anxiety surfacing. Routine ajustements ARE hard. Thanks for the open mommy talks. 🙂🙏 💗

These years are the learning process. It's not cut and dry being a parent. You and Austin are loving attentive parents just as your baby girls are learning it's also a learning process for you both. You are doing great.

With both of my babies, I found that as long as they don’t sleep through the night, it is SOOO hard! The fact that I had them far apart (they are 5 years apart) was hard as well to ajust. I know adjusting to a second baby is hard no matter what, but the fact that my son was becoming more independent; getting up in the morning during the week-end and getting a snack watching tv until we got up, not taking naps in the afternoon, etc. And then my daughter came and I had to get up multiple times during the night, had to get up early in the morning with her, having my son not take naps and my daughter taking naps, etc. They are now 2 and 7 and it’s SO much better already! Hang in there mama! As you said, it’s only a season in life. You got this! ♥️

When our little Esther is fussy (she is just a couple of weeks younger than Paige) we use homemade gripe water. It's camomile tea, also steeped with cinnamon, ginger, tumeric, clove, fennel and a dash of sugar for taste. It really helps with fussy episodes and helping her to fall asleep. Our pediatrician actually recommended it. You can give 1 ml at a time as often as needed. Just be careful not to give her so much she won't eat

Micah looks like she has gotten so much taller . They are both so sweet. Loving their little smiles. I am jealous though of the fall like temperatures that y'all are getting out that way. I live up in Northern California the Mount Shasta area. I live in what they call the Shasta Valley. We have smoke from all the fires coming from down south of us North of us and so the smoke just settles right down in this Valley because we're surrounded by mountains all the way around I wake up in the morning with my throat Raw. We have a swamp cooler and so at night we open the windows for ventilation. Micah it's so cute enter little Elsa outfit I'm going down the slide that was so precious. My son Jason was rolling at 3 weeks old. I carried Jason for 10 months in 4 days. He was almost a 9 lb baby.

I’m excited for fall, but it was a little abrupt here in South Dakota! It was a high of 98 on Sunday, and then on Tuesday, it was in the 40s and rainy😩 In western SD, they even got almost a foot of snow! Sooo not ready for snow😂

Our LO had a few fits around 4mths old that we couldn't figure out what was wrong so we tried tylenol and it did the trick....she started chewing and drooling way more when she was about 3mths old so she's been "teething" since then (she's now 8mths and still hasn't cut any teeth). We had some sleep regression during the night between 4-5mths old but went back to sleeping all night. The girls are so adorable!

In the uk we use bonjela teething gel, it helps when the gums get hard before the teeth break through. I’m sure they have a similar product there . It helps so much . X

Know what you mean with needing sleep...I get very weepy if I don't get my sleep,.....when my Lynsey was a baby,10 min was like 4 hrs to her so she would be awake "A LOT"..my hubby would come of night shift from a hard shift and let me get to bed for a few hours...she was a nightmare...so yes sleep deprived can make your mental health not so good....B.T.W...she's 32 now and grew out of it hahaha xxx

Same with my son! Its most likely teething. He been sucking on his fists and screams when is bedtime. I give him teething tablet instead tyneol because i don’t like tyneol either especially i wasn’t sure if he was just overly tired or hurting. Naps are hit and miss as well.

Lucy Baker I think that’s a great idea.... I love them, my kids hate them but think it’s hilarious what they’re called lol! We used to get school trips round the factory, I wonder if they still do that? I expect they’d think they were supposed to be lovely soft rolls that had gone incredibly stale! But I love them with a bit of butter & jam... not had a Dorset Knob for years lol! I wonder what else we have in Dorset that would be unusual to them? Let me know, maybe we could send them a few bits between us? I know Dorchester well, even lived there for a short time years ago. Used to be a nurse, didn’t work in DCH though. My mum & sister still live in Weymouth but due to COVID and my disability/high risk I haven’t been able to see them for ages. What do you do in Dorchester? Most people say County Hall to that Q! As much as I love the soft little squishy newborn, it’s the most exhausted I’ve ever been in my life. They just need you so much 24/7. It’s hard. I find the older babies more “enjoyable” of course until they hit their terrible twos lol
