I went to Fairfax high school in LA surrounded by supreme and Brooklyn projects and different skate shops. I remember when these shoes first came out I could walk in to any shop and just buy shoes my size and be able to skate them. Good times

i've never been to those shops but i def have heard of them. the early years of nike skateboarding will always be special, def a standout time in skateshop history. i had two local shops with early nike sb accounts, one of them kept with the new times, and one of them closed their account cause they didnt want to deal with the nike hype, only one of them is still left and now thriving.

Love the historical perspective. I use to have the De La Soul lows, and haze High. I am a basketball shoe head but dunks are special. Dunks are about identity. Love this vid. Stay blessed embarklife.

yo thanks a lot dustin bro. de la soul dunk from way back is def a one to have had for real, def has continued to be a dream dunk. sneaker culture is def put together by the basket ball world, and the dunk is originally a basketball shoe, theyre named "dunk" haha. i def identity with the dunk in that regard, my first love was basketball, but you know... i never made the team haha

Hands down the most informative video I have ever watched about my favorite shoes of all time!! Unfortunately I live in NW Indiana and there are not any skate shops that have a SB Accounts anywhere near me so I have to get my pairs on the GOAT or STOCK X😢. It’s not ideal but unfortunately that’s my only avenue for obtaining them. 2023 was a horrible year for me because every SB I end up wanting of course were QS and as soon as I get the L on SNKRS (true story , I have never hit for retail on any SB) they are already $500 + on the GOAT OR STOCK X . So with that being said I only got 3 or 4 QS ‘s and still need at least 4 more QS’s from 2023 . Hopefully 2024 is better for me. Can’t complain though because I own some of the hottest SB’s known to man . In my opinion there are No shoe that even compares. Jordan’s put out 1000 different color ways and still can’t touch the SB , for me they are art on your feet. Thanks for this video, it is truly an amazing watch!!!

A lot of my homies buy from sellers, so i def understand that part of the game. I'll also buy from sellers, trade skateboard dunks, I'll even do ebay. I'll buy used dunks if i know im going to skate around in them haha and i agree, the skateboard dunk is special above the air michael jeffrey jordan family of sneakers, the dunk is a sub culture of a sub culture, i call it a deep culture. i'm hella glad you enjoyed the edit for real, thanks again.

I used to work at a skate shop with a Nike account 2003-2006 ish. Remember seeing a full wall of Tiffany dunks in the back. Wonder what that whole wall would be worth now 😂

I def got more dunko stories, just gotta work out how to tell them and make them interesting to watch haha ima try keep popping out with the edits. The Yt logo and video title overlay is a screenshot of the logo and the video titles, bump the bright/contrast so the background becomes pure black and the whites become pure white, layout the information as desired, then set the blending mode to “screen” which will allow the black background to knockout, leaving anything with a color value or white, superimposed on top of the video clips you choose. This method white is opaque and black becomes transparent and any grays or colors in between will have varying degrees of opacity depending on how bright they are. Bright tones will be more opaque and dark tones will be more transparent. Hope that explains it.

12 years ago you could just walk in to any skate shop that sold nike sbs and buy em like how you would chips and soda. Not all skate shops sold sbs though because skaters were super against it. I remember the buy shoes from skater owned companies and not corporate companies like nike and adidas. Either way those days the popular sbs were the Janoskis, kostons and p-rods i think the 3s, 4s and 5s so a lot of skaters overlooked the dunks. I use to love skating my dunks and being made fun of having puffy skate shoes, during those days slim shoes were popular. Anyways i just miss the days dunk sbs were available to purchase anywhere instead of having to buy off of ebay, stockx or goat

good times when the dunk was available and just sitting. nike skatebaording split my neighborhood local skateshop, mangers and workers joined and left over nike skateboarding, it was def a different world at the shop at the time. we had two shops with early nike accounts, one of them kept going and is alive and well, the other closed the nike account and only lasted another ten years. janoski still one of the all time faves of all the nike sb. the hype can die down for non skaters for sure, but for skateboarding, the skateboard dunk has made its mark.

Back in high school I wanna say around 2012-2014 you were able to buy SB dunks off of skate sites like CCS and Tactics for below around $80-$90. Of course the colorways for the SB dunks at that time were more standard, but still a nice period of time if you like skating dunks because of how accessible and easy they were to get then.

@dwai5008 that was a good time. Most my dunk skating was 2003-2008. I only skated a couple dunks after 2008, I had moved over to the lunarlon one shot and the janoski in 2009 until about 2015 Came back to the dunk eventually cause the skateboard dunk really is that special. The janoski era was a real thing haha

@@owenkarl5314 photos on the nikesb website and other official imagery display dunks with laces from under, the pile ad and other commercial imagery show laces from above. past dunks from factory would have laces from under, now they're above. i think it comes down to art direction for how the images are created. if i was in charge, i would ensure dunks are laced from above, others might care for the other way, and some prob don't give it any thought and shoot the photos as the dunks are provided. great question, i def plan on talking about lace method in a future video, i also wonder and have my thoughts, hella funny you even brought that up, thats a deep cut. ill hide my thoughts in this comment for now.
