well the original VK's story ended in the special, Descendants: A Royal Wedding. at the end, a voice over for Mal said something like "our story may be over, but I know one that's just starting" and panned over to red painted white roses and a rabbit hole (reference to Alice in Wonderland). so from that point on, it was known that any future movies wouldn't focus on Mal and her friends anymore, but new characters

I Understand Everyone Is Excited About The 4th Movie Of Descendants But I Think It Would Be Better As A Spin Off. Not As Descendants 4. Yes, The New Generation Needs To Be Embraced But I Think It Would Have Been Better If They Just Made It As A Separate Portion. I get why none of them want to do another due to Cameron Boyce. I’m glad they didn’t keep the core four and change it to the core three because it would be sad without him. I think the real reason why the original Descendants cast wasn’t supposed to return in Descendants 4: The Rise of Red is because of Cameron Boyce’s passing in 2019. It’s true that the new cast was actually very different. Kylie Cantrall was the fitting choice for Red. I was even lucky that China Anne McClain from A.N.T. Farm and Descendants 2 & 3 returned to play Uma. Even Ruby Rose Turner from Coop & Cami Ask the World made the choice to star in Descendants 4. I still love Kylie Cantrall because I’m a huge fan. Especially since I really enjoyed the movie. And if I ever get to watch all four Descendants movies, I’ll definitely have a fun time.

i love this movie, but the storyline has some flaws. like if touching the sorcery cookbook would have made ulliana and her crew freeze, then why did they not get frozen in the first place? if they got frozen in the first place then bridget wouldnt turn evil??? so how did ulliana even get the cookbook before red and chloe went to the past?

The title descendants means the children of Disney’s heroes and villains. Despite the fact that the original cast is not coming back the rise of red is still focusing on the children of Disney’s heroes and villains. So it makes sense they would continue with that title.

I wish the old cast was back.I am a big Descendants fan.But I think it won't be good because it is going from one cast to a new cast so how will they make that along with the other 3 movies. I just don't see how they're going to like. Tell the story from the other 3 movies and then change it up to like where all those other characters went.
