What a wonderful exploration into Pilot VP. Thank you! I've only just started my fountain pen journey, and I am doubly glad I chose to go with a VP :)

I’ve been loving my Pilot Vanishing Point Matte Black (Noodler’s Dark Matter) and White/Black/Storm-Trooper (Pilot Blue from 823 box). Paired with my Pilot Custom 823 Amber/Dark Matter (Dromgoole’s in Houston TX was kind enough to give me the from the 743 and I love it). The definitely has feedback while writing and has two different personalities posted vs. un-posted. The VP was added 2 weeks after the 823 and the quick/smooth deployment and tip have been a fun change to the twist off cap. I then got the VP less than a week after the . The works so well with my smaller handwriting; my Twsbi 1.1 is almost too large to work with my writing. My is measuring .70-.75 and it’s been killing it with the Pilot Blue. I had Diamine Autumn Oak in first and the tip was audibly scratchy/noisy and the flow was not getting along with the . Quick easy change to the Pilot Blue to company my Lamy Safari and Twsbi 1.1 Stub loaded with Iroshizuku Kon-Peki.

Absolutely under no circumstances do I want to see a VP demonstrator. I'd take 6 more black vps over 1 demonstrator vp.

I dropped by VP nib down. It was a Fine. It has since been ground to a Fine Italic Cursive. Lots of fun to use!

I have 2 VPs, and I love them. I will order 2 more from you guys to gift to 2 relatives who are graduating from the Univ of Michigan Medical School. Got to get 2 new doctors start off with good tools that will help them in their chosen profession!!!! The regular VP is a very popular pen among the Attending Physicians at the Univ of Michigan Health Center.

Wow, that analysis about the year 1919 is honestly mind-blowing @3:18! It is the year after the first World War. Even though we learn the years in school, drawing that conclusion about the different companies' founding years was something I never thought about.

I dropped my vanishing point, nib down, and fully extended probably 2 months into owning it. I managed to bend the nib back into place and it has never given me any issues since, but I was sick lol

And of course, I should've waited until the end of the video because I have a comment about the clip now too, lol. I like the clip even for the simple fact that the nib is so small it ensures you have it properly oriented. Is it comfortable to me? No. But this isn't a pen that I'm writing novels with anyway, so it doesn't really matter all that much.

... and I think they could definitely figure out the demonstrator idea at least for a limited edition!

I take two with me every day at work at the pharmacy! Have purchased and used a lamy dialog 3 and a curidas and they just couldn't measure up. The weight of the dialog was problematic in my smock pocket, it dried out way too easily for my liking (like after 2 days off and not being used) and though the pen can technically be extended with one hand, it realistically takes 2 hands to extend and retract the nib with any fluidity. The curidas seemed like a slam dunk with the cheaper price and plastic lightness and durability, but the retraction mechanism was only about 80% reliable on my model due to an internal mechanical issue that I identified but couldn't fix. This issue made me almost ink-up my white smock on several occasions and just was enough of a downside that I couldn't justify using it over the VP that I already had. I think the curidas is a good pen for somebody who doesn't already have a VP, but if you have both, the curidas is just plain obsolete. Final unrelated thought: my kingdom for a factory-made architect nib for the VP.

I have a dialog 3. The most expensive fountain pen mistake. Clip doesn’t retract. Lamy warranty is trash. VP is a beast. Second bad expensive Lamy. No more for me.
@Hexsyn Жыл бұрын
@luigig6256 sorry to hear. My first dialog 3 had a really rough mechanism so I sent it back to goulet and they replaced it. Second one ran better but the clip bent outwards a bit during normal use so that it could pivot side to side and screw up the retraction. Easy fix to re bend it back down with a ziptie underneath the clip and some pressure down on the end. Later it started over-turning on the retraction mechanism so I put some Teflon tape on the threads and that fixed it. Disappointing considering it's price point though

I love the Capless, and somehow I managed to get my hands (a friend of a friend of a guy I know) on the Bamboo forest, and I love it. Understated but cheerful.

That was great! But I would love to see you guys do a full review of the Vanishing Point LS. It seems to be the forgotten VP.

I own the 2014 Copper limited edition, #80/2014. Smoothest pen I've ever used.

Next VP LE needs to be a brushed Titanium with matte black trim finish. I would jump at that one. My first LE was the Black Links and I still think it's the slickest looking one in my collection.

I wish Pilot lowered the clip to where it was originally. This is a very good video.

I like Tom's idea of a skeleton demo VP. That would be AMAZING!!!

Thanks for the video I have a black one and a red one for black ink and red ink , but I also have a black one with gold trim but the trap door doesn't close the way it should so the ink doesn't dry out any recommendations

I'd throw so much money for Pilot to sell more purple ombre VPs like the Twilight one 😭😭😭 as lovely as the lavender Decimo is, it isn't purple enough aaaa

The VP has been my main daily pen for over 15 years. They work well, but they do not last long. The barrels literally wear out, the metal ring that holds the clip falls off and needs to be superglued regularly, the little o-ring is worn out, etc. I have had close to 10 pens over these years and currently do not have one that works.

I wouldn’t admit that I wasn’t a fountain pen person, LOL. I need to add a VP to my collection or accumulation of pens lol 😂!

I love my EF Decimo. My nib feels bouncy in a delightful way, like a minute ballet dancer in fact guiding my hand across the paper, rather than I commanding it.

I only have a Decimo but would love to add a LE or the LS capless…as far as color I would want maybe a vermillion. Totally off subject but who makes the hoodie Sal was wearing?…That is very slick looking

Bought two Curidas and won’t ever buy another. Both of them just had ink flow issues - almost constant hard starts and straight-up ink stoppages. Even with Platinum inks. I think it’s a problem with the way they make their feeds that they haven’t worked out yet.

I bought a Pilot Vanishing point only 3 months ago and it fell apart as I was filling the con'40 for only the second time. The knob assembly has fallen out of the barrel housing and it will not go back in. So disappointed that a supposedly good quality pen fell apart so easily. The pen has been used only lightly and has not been dropped or misused

I love the Pilot VP, but I feel that the Japanese are shortchanging us by not shipping some of the more exciting models to us. First of all, it’s a tad insulting. Second, the U.S. is no doubt a major market for Pilot, so one would think that enlightened self interest would prompt them in that direction. It certainly wouldn’t dilute their market because we and Japan are two separate entities, and they would be able to sell a goodly number in either market. I would hope that they would wake up to the market that awaits them here

Sorry, but Sal doesn’t know his products. The color of the nib is electro plating but the nib is 18K gold in all of them. Black colored nibs aren’t quieter than the others.
