Very cool, Joseph. Actually, gardening or moving furniture can be really beneficial to someone who is too old or disabled to do so. Acts of service are my love language, too. I can appreciate Catholics who serve God by serving others. Think about Jesus washing his apostles' feet. He came to serve. Sloth is really a major sin.

Yes there are messages in the Scripture which are contradictory that makes me confused what really to follow🥺 Honestly I am confused what really God wants me to do. I have needy relatives which I am helping because it is God's command to help our own kin. But I really don't know if I am actually helping them or I have encouraged their idleness or they just take advantage that someone is helping them? If I don't help them I feel guilty too🥺

@Gratefulheart. God bless your heart for being generous. You have to be prudent and wise. You might be leading them to be slothful. Help them by speaking to them in love to understand how they can start standing up on their own feet by depending on the Lord and his given talents. 🙏

I am very confused also. Much like you described. First, I pray and fulfill my Catholic obligations as much as I can. I need to always keep and follow an organiser. I personaly use a paper planner. A large ring planner. I organise all my priorities, Callander, tasks and life stuff. I try to write a daily scedual. If I am to serve God in any way It needs to be organised in my planner, calender and time table. The confusion for me comes when I am not organised. For discernment of God's will, we need to be in a state of grace and fulfill the obligations of our state in life. We do this before extra things. If your family needs help, maybe make a set time to do pre plan specific things. Refuse to do things without a weeks notice first, or things that are not good for you. If it is not a real emergency, like someone needs to go straight to hospital, try saying no in a diplomatic way. If your family is ungrateful, don't worry about it. You loved them as God loves you, unconditionally. God bless.

God wants you to love Him and love others above all. Helping others is a good thing. If you’re concerned you’re enabling their idleness/laziness then maybe help them help you. If you’re concerned they may take advantage of you, then that is on them and not your fault.

@@tony1685 thank you and I hope it has been for you too. Catholicism combines the second commandment with the first. It believes that the graven images shall not become gods and idols for us. Also, the vast majority of Christianity’s various denominations do not follow the 4th commandment regarding the sabbath as Sunday and not Saturday. The Lord did command fo images to be made within the tabernacle but these images are not to be worshipped. Catholics do not worship the images they have within their churches, or at least shouldn’t worship them. Bowing in front of them is not an act of worship. In Asian cultures, bowing is a sign of respect. I do not believe they worship one another by bowing. Same as theater performers when they bow at the end of a show. They are not worshipping the crowd that is applauding them. There are statues made all over the world for people and to commemorate events and I highly doubt people are worshipping these statues.

I have noticed something that a lot of rich people everywhere are starting to do thanks to more than one rumor going around right now about political systems different than our own. A lot of them are failing to recognize efforts of the poor to look for work while at the same time tending to diminish the value of their volunteer work done and on top of that if the person looks very poor instead of encouraging volunteer work too in some cases they will not even allow the poor person to get a volunteer job to help serve people too. And so what do the poor in a situation like that end up doing with their time in that case without becoming more and more idle while at the same time if they are the poorest of the poor often trying to be coping with the more desperate poor on the street doing harm? Are they going to be better off when it comes to acquiring more of the spiritual gifts into the countryside as only a pauper who is living on an industrial farming operation as just a farm hand for the company in charge adhering to only lassez-faire capitalism as an ideal where they will be looking only robot like part of that farm? Then if a poor person for example has a stroke of luck instead those same rich people start coming around your part of town far more often just to walk by or drive by your home while trying to peer into the windows while hoping that your drapes are open and then it sometimes gets rapid far worse from their if they believe the coast is clear with no trace of them left behind as soon as they get away with maybe for example exposing themself to you.

The mental gymnastics around manual labor especially for someone and for money. Nobody really enjoys it unless they were brought up around tools and doing things outside. Otherwise we'd rather do something else, light and maybe labor in exercise for our health. I'd say that's the only satisfying manual labor. No need to lie to yourself to be otherwise because "god". Also ppl look down on blue collar ppl. It's low status to most because especially those repetitive kind of jobs you don't really need to use brain.
