The injuries Trevor had do matter...take a look at the play vs Cin when he got hurt...looked BRUTAL...and then have him play with that behind our AWFUL O-Line...it did have an impact no doubt. He's gotta be better..but ya cant discount he had ankle/knee/concussion/shoulder in 2nd half of season.

What evalutors dont get right in my opinion is counting arm strength and accuracy as physical traits. Real arm strength displayed during games. Not just how far you can throw. But how far you can throw off balance, on the run, off the back foot, and if it loses its spiral and accuracy the deeper you throw. Heaving it 60 yards is useless if it dies in thhe air, loses accuracy, the WR has to adjust (slow down)and it starts to flutter. (Bryce Young)

CJ Stroud was one of the easiest evaluations for me personally because of Trevor Lawrence. CJ Stroud by every metric in college statistically was a better quarterback than Trevor Lawrence. Even heavier coming out of college than Trevor and a slightly better arm as well. On top of being naturally more accurate. It was very easy to see for me personally because of Trevor that CJ might be a better player. Although I don't want to get too ahead of myself. CJ still has a little ways to go. Especially in growing into a complete player to be considered a great quarterback. Something that has alluded Trevor Lawrence so far.

Two things can be true.... The deal is a fair one for Lawrence considering the market and was smart for the Jags. And as a Texan's fan, I'm ecstatic. He's a premier talent who is slightly better than mid. Please keep him for the next 10 years Jags. I'm good with CJ Stroud.

I think they personally will start to go down hill in a few years once their drafts do start to work out but have to get rid of a few of them. It may short term not hinder them as badly. Assuming they hit on anyone recently and start to play good now. Later? If he isn't the guy and players do perform around him? That's when it'll really hit them hard.

I'm sure the Jags would be happy to pay Mahomes that money, but they can't get him. Dak Prescott is going to get even more than Lawrence and he's not really any better. You're the clown if you don't get where QB salaries are heading. Every team without a franchise QB would happily pay that amount for Lawrence right now. Guys who naturally think of running first naturally wow evaluators. It's the throwing portion that puts guys like CJ, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes ahead of others. That's the characteristic in Mahomes that is what made his evaluation easy too. Although he can run he is a special thrower even in college. With a special arm. But that's enough tooting my own horn. Means nothing if CJ can't continue to grow. I'll wait longer to see if CJ becomes special to gloat about always backing CJ through the whole draft process.

This deal makes sense for Houston or Indy, but Jacksonville is not going to scare anyone fielding Lawrence. Texans are happy to face him in the division going forward. On the other hand, Lawrence is respected around the league for some reason, so you get an opportunity to beat a quality opponent.

The problem is he is just good enough. Enough for them to hope he takes one more step into the great category. He has just good enough teams for them to want go all in on him. They are stuck in a place where they sort of had to. If he works out they'll look good still. It's a big gamble though because he might just only be what we all have seen of him so far. Did the Jags FO give themselves a backdoor by guaranteeing only $200M? So TL has 2-3 years to prove himself starting from when the new contract kicks in. $142M signing bonus, and remaining 58M the ff year

Trevor has received his $142mill signing bonus. They incorporated some of the money in his rookie deal and added 2 void yrs. So the average cap hit for the next 7 yrs is $44mill. The big money from this extension starts in 2026. In the 2028 off season the Jags can let Trevor walk and save $4.5mill. The real area to look for a get out would be 2029 where they would save $57mill. But if it works out then thats the yr they would talk another extension and or reconstruction. There are outs in the contract. It's really a team friendly deal and Trevor gets a good pay day right now.

You put quarterbacks in a bracket together that belong together skill wise. For instance Bryce Young, Trevor Lawrence, CJ Stroud, Patrick Mahomes. You put the college stats next to each other. You weigh the physical abilities on a one for one basis. The arm strength and accuracy play more of a major role than other physical traits. The sack percentages they take in college. TD to interception ratio. Then lastly height weight and all the other physical stuff. The video on if they can make NFL throws or anticipate openings in a defense. Bryce Young is the worst scorer because he has almost no arm, short, weighed historically low, statistics dont even back him up against the others like CJ or Mahomes. Bryce possesssed no defining skill to separate him. Including not enough speed to justify him making those plays in the NFL that made him special in college. Easy last place among all quarterbacks taken top 25. Patrick Mahomes by comparison is the highest scoring because of stats, throwing off script athletic scores do match, power arm, accurate. Unusually crazy college stats. CJ on his skill ranks somewhere around the top closer to Joe Burrow and ahead of Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert. In fact Joe Burrow and CJ are really close in matching each others potential. In my quarterback rankings system anyways. For those coming out of college. That makes CJ Stroud one of the highest graded quarterbacks I've ever evaluated. That's why I was so pushy in taking him. 😅😂
