Nice video. I just got this, i've had less fancy mics from Ulanzi but decided to pull the trigger on the AM18. I have a bit to learn about it but it seemed to offer some really nice features: Mic gain was a huge one. I had to turn the gain way down as I had some crackling when it was set to 0. Neat upgrade from my old setup though. Thanks.

Ulanzi is an alcohol made from the sap of the immature Oxytenanthera abyssinica bamboo. Bamboos that start to grow are cut off during the rainy season. The sap is collected in a vessel. This liquid starts to ferment immediately. When first stung, Ulanzi is sweet like a syrup or juice, but after a while, it becomes sharp. The relationship doesn't last long

When you tested the internal recording, were the levels a lot lower pre-post?

Hi, sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to go back into my edit in Davinci and check the levels. I just checked the internal recording files before any post adjustment, and yes they were much lower, but was able to move up the levels to a good volume easily in post. Hope that helps. Thanks.

Another point that could be good to know for users of people considering a buy; I'm happy with the mic and think the sound quality is ok (maybe not always great but good enough) but the included cables are of quite bad quality, stiff, and feel cheap. I had severe issues with static when filming with my Iphone and was very close to returning them but fortunately tested to swap the included cable between the receiver and Iphone since I had one of those cables and the issue went away completely. I could even feel a difference in connecting the cable to the receiver, the fit from the included one felt loose while the other one I had felt snug och tight.

What does the safety stuff so? The safety options with mono or Stereo, is it like a compressor? Should I leave it on?

Basically it records a backup track in case your main channel distorts.
