I still believe Dale and Andrea ruined this more long term than even Carl or Rick dying. I’m not saying they should’ve lived until the end but at least till season 5. Thing is even when season 1-3 wasn’t always perfect I believe the journey of the original group sucked viewers in. Killing Dale sparked the start of the shows annoying killing spree of anyone they wanted. I know the actor had issues behind the scenes but that is all because of producers terrible management and meddling. This show would’ve saved its integrity if it kept its main characters with loyalty and trust, and focused on patient storytelling than just action and commercialized BS.

This show ended after season 3 for me to be honest. It had the perfect zombie story arc for the first three seasons and than it just went into rinse and repeat mode.

Really season 3? Wow a lot of people say season 3,4 and 5 are the peak of the show. Well everyone is different and thinks differently.I can see what you mean with season 4 having their home destroyed like it was in season 2 and then again in season 5 at terminus then Alexandria. You have a point the story might be slightly different and the characters but the same framing is there and is still there kinda. Each season Alexandria basically falls just to be rebuild and fall again.

The biggest gripe I have with this show is the repetitiive and boring story. It goes like this: Settle somewhere then big bad group shows up, there's a war, our group defeats the baddies, there's a period of peace and once again another bad group shows up, rinse and repeat. When the Reapers showed up as this new big bad group I was so annoyed and pissed. It is not a zombie show anymore, it's a show about warring groups. The Commonwealth finally broke this endless cycle because it is so different from all other groups but it can't save the show now. This show has died a long time ago.

Also there is little to no creativity. The zombies are still the same, no new zombie types, like runners, animal zombies etc. No evolution. Human groups are more or less the same. Whisperes and the Commonwealth are the only creative parts of this show. (but they're from the comic so no credit to the show writers). CRM is only a bigger and badder version of the Commonwealth so no creative points either.

Yeah they do have that formula and it sucks. About the show not being a zombie show anymore. The show was never meant to be a zombie show, the zombies are meant to be a backdrop for the characters and show. Even in the comics they did not focus on the zombies and there was not many of them till after the governor arc. But I do agree about the lack of zombie types of evolution of them. This is a long running show and we should of seen some different types to make the show interesting. Like they are adding runners in to the shows but it is a little too late for the walking dead.

Do you know what the funny thing is? In the first few episodes of the show zombies could climb over things, but that was entirely dropped for some reason. Man zombies became a big nothing after the third episode and now they’re even worse.

There is an in universe reason for that and that is fresh turned walkers can still do something’s. However it was never shown after the season 2. That is because of the original director leaving.

The earlier seasons were excellent, but I stopped watching midway through Season 6. I got tired of the repetitive storylines, how they kept killing off main characters and replacing them with boring characters, and how unrealistic the characters became as they could take on any foe and always win while suffering nothing more serious than bruised knuckles themselves in the process.

A lot of people dropped around that part and I agree the quality does drop in that part of the shows run. One issue with season 6 is that is skips a whole arc from the comics so they could get to the savour arc as fast as possible. It really makes the season back half janky I think as there is a rebuilding arc and amnesia Carl arc plus a Revolution arc that all just gets skipped over but is hinted at in the first half of the season.

The worst choices the show made are as follows: 1) Killing off Carl 2) Firing Frank Darabont 3) Having Rick leave 4) Ending season 6 with cliffhanger (they should’ve killed Abraham at the end and THEN killed Glen on the season 7 opener) 5) Reaper Arc 6) The entirety of the last 6 episodes of season 10 (minus Here’s Negan) 7) Michonne & Morgan leaving 8) all these dumb spin-offs 9) The Negan and Beta final fight (it lasted seconds and was very anti climatic) 10) Killing off Tyrese (he had so much more potential) There’s arguments to be made for this list on what to add or take away. But those first 5 on the list definitely belong there.

It’s just too much. Just add season 12 to TWD, bring back Rick. And remove all these spin offs. They should merge the last season of FTWD with the start of the final season of TWD and call it a wrap.

In my opinion, the show lacked consistency throughout the series, which was a major problem. The first season was vastly different from the second season, and the walkers' rules, characters' behavior, and overall feel of the show changed drastically over time. For example, Shane rarely said "lemme tell you somethin" in the first season, but it became a common catchphrase in the second season. The show had some interesting and well-developed antagonists such as Shane, The Governor, and Merle, who fit the gritty and realistic tone of the series. However, some characters like Negan were poorly written and unrealistic. Additionally, the walkers' behavior was inconsistent and didn't make sense, such as how a bite kills you, but wiping zombie blood on you and wearing zombie skin doesn't. The characters' actions also didn't always make sense, such as when Rick (a hardened untrusting survivor of the apocalypse by the time seasons 5 and 6 rolled around) risked everyone's lives to work with Hilltop with little merit, and infiltrating the Saviors' outpost, a group of men that wouldn't have messed with Rick and his crew had they minded their own business. This is something a well written Rick Grimes would NEVER do and fans of the show would defend what he did and say that "he was cocky" as a way to excuse poor writing. It wasn't good writing, plain and simple. I'd understand Rick's actions if, after saying no the Saviors when they asked for help, if Negan showed up out of nowhere and captured Rick and his group during a supply run or something, killed Abraham (maybe even Daryl because fuck plot armor) as a way to force the group to work for them. All-Out War would make more sense and the infiltration of that radio outpost would also make more sense had it gone down the way i described it. It cause a second lineup where Glenn dies or another main character like Gabriel, Morgan, Eugene, or even Daryl (if he ends up getting beaten and captured instead). But the way it was actually handled just seemed like a lazy attempt to get the more serious and gritty show to follow through with the more comically violent comic (which is also very gritty and dark but in its own way). Besides what I've just mentioned, poor writing also plagued the story. I mean, have y'all seen the scene/episode where Rick and his crew wasted all their bullets shooting at a fucking building for no reason instead of outright killing Negan, Simon, and Gregory where they stood? In was so fucking stupid.

Everything about Season 11 is really weird, it is supposed to be the end, but they didn't gave our beloved characters (Negan, Carol, Daryl) a moment to shine (why are they alive so?) and took off the big ones (Michonne, Rick and Carl), and the story itself doesn't feel like the end, it just feels like another season, we only have the 16th to 24th episodes of the 11th season, and i'm really skeptical about they delivering a worthy end...

You are 100% correct about the writing!! The writers lack the ability to manipulate the situation and environment instead of the character to get a result they want. Maybe that is because of time restraints or whatever but it really takes me out of the fantasy. I also miss the use of actual music instead of all this ambient "Cue the tears" bs. I never watched a show so much that I miss WHILE I am watching it. It certainly is a weird feeling.

Siddiq even stated that he owed a life debt to carl and wanted to continue living to make amends because he was partially responsible for carl getting bit and dying How can anybody still think the show is good is beyond me

The show after Season 2 (at least for me) seemed that the writing staff and directors couldn't quite get a grasp of what they wanted to do and come up with the writing to do it.

Yeah it was the show runner of season 3 and that is why Andrea died in season 3, he did not care that she was important in the comics. He just wanted shock value and that is all he cared about.

@@HoboDucks That was actually Glen Mazzara, not Scott Gimple. The decision to kill off Andrea and end Holden's (the actor who plays Andrea) 8 year contract with the show ultimately cost him his job. And it wasn't just this decision and other decisions he had (like killing off Carl) for shock value, it was that he also poorly wrote the dialogue for each episode and many of his scripts had to be hastily re-written before shooting was to begin.

I think it’s okay in certain instances to alter story beats of a show or movie from the source material within reason. For example, in The Watchmen they changed the ending from the original source by making Dr.Manhattan just be the bad guy threatening to destroy the world instead of the graphic novel’s summoned kraken. However the underlying goal was the same - Dr.Manhattan would sacrifice his reputation to play bad guy so that Russia and America would come together to defeat the threat and subsequently end the Cold War/threat of mutual destruction. The walking dead writers however seem to have failed to grasp this concept even with individual character arcs.

On your first point. If it was identical to the comics would it not be predictable? To know what it was going to happen to certain characters. Giving the show difference to the comics is a good in my opinion. Second point. Agreed on deaths a lot of deaths are shit and poorly done. Dale, Andrea Abraham tyreese Bob Noah. Etc Semi agree with your point about characters after first half of the show I love Jerry and Ezekiel tho. Fear isn’t better imo apart from a year and half between 2017 and first half of 2018 I don’t mind the spin offs but I Hate that carol and Daryls spin-off has been announced out before the show is done. Thank you, Well I do think it can change a bit from the comics but I think the show has changed too much and it has ruined the show a little. I feel there needs to be a least some things that stay the same between the show and comics. Like I understand it makes the show predictable but it is just too different for me. Like the show does not even have any of the main characters that the comics have and uses a lot of show only characters. They do have Maggie and stuff but big named characters like rick and Carl are not in the show anymore which means they can’t even do the same ending at this point. Agreed it has been better with Angela Kang writing and that is why i said season 9 is a good season and a outlier with the formate being changed a little. However with the kinda back half of season 10 she has started to write more formatted other then the alpha death. I am mostly pointing towards season 11 with talking about her. I do think most of the big issues with the writing is with Scott and his mistakes are still effecting the show now. with season 9 episode 15 I love that episode too and it is one of my favourites. However that episode for me is made because some of my favourite characters died and that spike scene was made ever more impactful. But if I look at that episode from a outside perspective. All of the characters that died was not big characters and only small niche characters or wildly hated characters. I think this was a moment that could of been bettered by a big death. There’s a lot wrong with the walking dead now. I’m sick and tired of them stretching it out into a franchise when it should have been a self contained show. Killing Carl off was a horrible dumb decision. I literally don’t care about Judith and RJ. They’ve added too many characters, I love rick but he should’ve stayed dead instead of miraculously bringing him back because then his sacrifice feels like it was for nothing and isn’t as impactful. Also the writers have ruined Negan’s character for me. I miss him being terrifying and unapologetically cruel and now he’s here for his "bad boy charm" quips, and jokes. He keeps going back and forth between not being sorry for his choices and wanting to redeem himself that I literally do not understand his intentions at this point. Like it’s confusing and stupid and doesn’t make sense at all. Negan did not need a redemption arc

TWD died around Season 6 or so. Slowly but surely, all of the fear, tension, and feeling of the apocalypse went out the window. Great characters die and are replaced with boring characters. No more tough guys, just woke chicks. Negan was bad ass in the comics, bit was silly in the show. The Whisperers arc was intense in the comics, but so-so in the show. Dumbest part ever was the trash people who couldn’t talk straight. I gave up some time in season 10. Plus, I was barely watching during seasons 7-9. F Gimple and Kang.

Also in this petticular season Rick made his most unmoral decision ever at the satelite station, S6 was still classic TWD. I just started watch Walking Dead month ago. I skip a lot unimportant dialogue since season 3, and just skip first episode to last episode since season 6. And stop watching on season 7. I think it's just me feel this series is boring as the zombie. The story progression also don't even care about zombie apocalypse anymore. What caused it, is there any cure to the disease. The Biggest plot hole in this series there is no actual goals to achieve. After Eugene's lie, the plot are feels empty. In war story there is domination as a goal, or maybe peace as resolution. Even the most boring salaryman has his personal goals in life. I think it's a gimmick to expand the franchise more. To make more money. The title of the walking dead is talking about the people. In season 5 rick call his group the walking dead. So the show is named after his group not the walkers. In the comics rick call his group the walking dead way sooner and the comics end with him saying we are not the walking dead. The title is about the people. I do agree however there is not really any goal to achieve for our characters. All they really do is found danger fight it rebuild and find danger again. There is not really a purpose for them.

I felt like the show was going downhill when carl died n then when rick left i was just over it like evryone else n didn't watch it for like 4yrs but i picked it back up from mid season 9 few weeks ago and man it's soooo good. i'm really sad we all gave up on it n now they cancelled it making risky moves like spin-offs n movies that may or may not happen. if your able to get over carl and rick it's actually pretty good honestly every character grew on me even kelly and connie i find them pretty cute especially connie with her asl n exaggerated body language, it's interesting to see her perspective not being able to here in dangerous situations where relying on your ears is essential but she makes it. alpha and the whispered were fun villains and watching daryl with pope was suspenseful and tense, had me on my seat the whole time now i'm on S11 E14 and i'm still really enjoying it i'm sad to see it go. it was once my favorite show and now i realize why it was, it still is. I wish everyone else could feel the same but i feel like one day people will come to realize it is still amazing and wish they never collectively dissed it so bad to the point they cancelled it

The show was not cancelled because of the fan base. It has been cancelled because they finished adapting all of the source material and the walking dead has an issue where AMC does not own a lot of the streaming and distribution rights around the world, like for example Disney owns the streaming and distribution rights of the walking dead in many countries so they get some of the money. So the walking dead does not make them as much money as it could do. That is why AMC cancelled the show to make new shows that they have full control over.

A one for one adaptation of the source material is a double-edged sword. When the source material is awesome, then it will be amazing for people who are unfamiliar with the original source. For fans of the source material, however, it’s kind of lackluster to sit through something you’ve already enjoyed in another medium. I didn’t mind them leaving characters in the show for longer or killing off some of the minor characters before their comic deaths as it gave me a reason to watch. Once they started killing off so many of the OG characters, though, I was out.

I don't think there was anything you said that I didn't already agree with. It's pretty spot on. I stopped tuning after the end of season 9. Season 10 aired, and I couldn't even finish the first episode. I've tuned out since then. Total lack of interest. I think another reason the show performed as poorly as it did was b/c it's on AMC, and they had to water down a lot of the storylines. Imagine what it would've been like if say, HBO for example, had picked it up. Now I don't know if this is true or not, but I read somewhere that HBO was considering picking up the show, but for whatever reason, it was AMC who decided to pick it up. What a huge mistake.

After season 4 the show became bland, but definitely after season 7 was the last time it was entertaining. So many times I’d watch and think how stupidly unrealistic characters survived. Somehow they’d dodge bullets and receive no casualties, but they’d kill all their enemies lol. At the beginning of the show zombies were a true threat, but at a certain point they all seemed so easy to kill. The show felt dark and scary, made you think about the consequences of just turning the wrong corner. But eventually the show felt like a forced hero story. All the main characters were gone and the new ones had no depth. Don’t get me started on the cringe speeches by King Ezekiel. The show was no longer realistic and put you on the edge of your seat like it used to. Once Rick left the show was over, no point in watching. Definitely the best zombie show ever made, but couldn’t finish in quality like how it started.

They can’t do a 1:1 copy, because then they’re telegraphing the story. The show started to suck when they kept wandering around the wilderness and not getting anywhere. I stopped reading the comics after the All Out War arc, and i stopped watching the show at the start of it. I didn’t like the arc and i hate time-jumps.

So many reasons why the show went south. Not killing off Negan was one of the first. Expecting us to believe a petite deaf woman and a trans boy could survive a zombie apocalypse for as long as they have(or at all) is another reason. It's turned into a stupid soap upera where the zombies are nothing more than mosquitoes that need to be swatted and smushed. What a disappointment.

When I am saying important characters I am they kill off characters like Andrea, Carl and rick who are all massive in the comics and are needed for almost the whole story and the ending of the story basically. When I say they don’t kill enough I am mostly talking about Angela Kangs seasons 9,10 and 11 where she seems to be too scared to kill anyone off and that has led to a massive bloated cast. In season 10 and 11 we only lost 4 main characters/Heros. We definitely needed some of the cast to be killed off as there was not enough story for all of them and some just never did anything. For example Magna and Kelly never really did anything and Lydia and Elijah did nothing once their arcs was done and was just there.

They also killed off the best looking chicks. Andrea, Sasha, later, Leah. Maggie is the last one standing. In seriousness, though, the random characters at the end, I couldn't care less about. Also, I never liked Rick, "Dudley Do Right", as I call him. Shane was my favourite, by far, I relate to him. Make of that what you will. Andrea was awesome, too. Then The Governor, and Negan, until they neutered him.

The ended when Glenn died and when negan showed up! -twd needed a lot more creative moments besides death !in season when the characters were under the cars because of the walkers that was creative !

Well I meant there are too many of the wrong types of deaths but that lead to the point where the show got too scared an no one died and the cast got too big. What they needed to do was find a balance between the two but what the show did was flip flop from too many to too little

The show started to decline pretty much right after the first season. The few good episodes after that were never quite enough to save it. And the decline (with rare moments of excellence) has never ceased.

As someone who stopped watching this show quite a few years ago, I found myself looking to get back into it and give it a rewatch, and the show didnt dissapoint. Until season 7.......the first 1-6 seasons are great for me and loved it. But once season seven starts after that crazy first episode, things for me start to get a little dumb, but I could deal with some of the stupid stuff that is until I started season 8 and remembered why I stopped watching this show. HOW MANY TIMES WILL THESE PEOPLE NEVER LEARN TO KILL!? They decide to keep the saviors alive and then they start running away into the forest, and now morgan who drove me insane to begin with, is trying to kill them and now Jesus is the new morgan. I couldnt even watch anymore, its like just because your the good guys doesnt mean you dont kill. And that is where I remember I stopped watching the show a few years ago and once again where I stop watching it. 1-6 was gold for me and recommend those seasons to anyone, but after that it starts to become a joke. Sad because the show was fantastic, but its unwatchable for me now because of the STUPIDITY.

I don’t blame you for stopping season 8 was really dumb. It does get better after that though. So if you have not I would recommend picking up with season 9 as it is a reboot.

@@HoboDucks Appreciate the feedback, I had watched a video on basically what happens and season 9 looks interesting but without Rick and Carl its just not the same for me. But I might still check it out for the hell of it, the feel the show had in those first seasons was so good

Season 9 does really suffer from both rick and Carl not being there. And it is not like season 1-6. However if you see it as a whole new show it is pretty good. Season 9-10 have definitely the best villains the show has had with the whisperers.
