AI will replace you if your work has no soul and creativity put into it. Standard Capcut and Canva editors are just looking to throw a few clips together with a filter on top. This video is fearmongering for views.

I think only the entry level editors will be get replaced by AI, remember these are just tools to speed up your work but to use it efficiently and in a creative manner requires a skill.

I agree. Fear mongering is real, concerning the future of AI in this industry. AI will make more tedious tasks easier and faster if video editors choose to use AI. Humans are always going to be more accurate. For example, AI will never know what the best take out of 10 takes is, or what effects capture the emotional invocation that is intended for a specific shot. We wont see something from AI doing a better job in our lifetimes..

they still run the monopoly in editing software but surprising that only recently they've implemented text to speech and spellcheck

Technology are getting better and cheaper and for this reason, people get more access to editing. Even the price for video editing is dropping. :( Clients want expensive high performance gadgets and pay really really low for the skill of the person.

I would disagree with that. Even if there are tools that can turn podcasts into shorts, there is not an existing software (AI-based) that can tell a story through editing better than a human. AI is good for text (ideation, etc), but not for video editing. Yes, you can definitely add subtitles or use AI to cut a long podcast, but you can't use it to tell a story or to add different types of animations.

Simply knowing there are AI tools are not enough to get something valuable. It takes professional decision making and experience to know when, how, and whyyyyyyy to apply this tools for a project. Just because you have access to a hammer doesn't mean you know the best way to build a house.

Just learn more complicated editing that an AI can't do. Learn After Effects for example.

In order to survive as a video editor, you'll have to become a traveling videographer. This means, you don't get to work from home, you'll have to be comfortable filming things and people you have no interest in and your expenses will increase.
