Also my two preferred focal lengths for portraits. Just the right amount of separation for intrigue. 75-85 mm is a flattering perspective for people photos, and the 35 is great for the environmental shots.
@gavinfulton13613 жыл бұрын
Impossible to pick faves, honestly. Your photos are always so beautiful and well-composed (even when you break the rules, which is good to show because a lot of beginners focus on following the rules to a T). Urban portraits w/ overcast skies are some of my favorite style, too. I think I slightly prefer the look of a 35, but I'm partial to a wider portrait anyway (I typically shoot at 24mm for an exaggerated look) but man, can we talk about Adelaide? She was incredible. So effortless with her movements. The roller skate photos were awesome. Good call on the pads, Dan. Great work by everyone!

You could but it still wouldn’t really be the same look due to the compression of an 85mm. I specifically like the distortion when shooting from specific distances from my subject that the 35 produces. Let me know what you think ?

If you do weddings 16-35 is pretty nice. You can't shoot 1.4 for group shots anyway cos it's too shallow
@emilyesnyman3 жыл бұрын
I agree with the above comment, 16-35 is a pretty nice lens and you won't do much with a lower f-stop
@juliatrotti3 жыл бұрын
I personally haven't used the 16-35 yet, but yes it's a good idea! For weddings I usually bring my 28 or 20 depending on the venue as I need something wider for architecture and extra large group photos, so it would be easier to have a zoom if you only want to buy one lens. Also for weddings I'm usually shooting at f2 anyway so an f2.8 in my opinion will be fine :)

The 35mm f/1.4 Nikkor and 85mm f/1.4 Nikkor lenses are the two lenses I routinely use on two full-frame cameras. For portraits, I may add a 105mm and/or a 135mm telephoto. To avoid frequently changing lenses, I sometimes use a 28-200mm zoom instead of the prime lenses.
