Ben has always worked relentlessly and without a shadow of a doubt deserves every bit of success from the Sorted brand. Growing from a group of friends who had a laugh together into a globally recognised content provider who have expanded their name to become a commercial brand by selling channel related merchandise, creating numerous cookbooks, partnering with other companies such as the distillery to provide their very own gin as well as creating a mobile app that helps people in their everyday lives to save them money which is constantly being worked on to improve it further and make changes that benefit the users by adapting to the climate of the time. They deserve every shred of success because for over 13 years now they have worked tirelessly to make the channel and the brand better and always looking to improve. They’ve brought us so many memories to bring us joy and outside that still continue to support their fans and it’s all derived from their constant efforts that have blossomed the channel from an unknown entity of four friends having a laugh into a globally recognised group who entertain, educate and remain connected with their fans by always putting their followers first and doing what they believe is in the best interests of the community rather than doing what they think will benefit them and to make a strong and stable career with your friends that let’s them live comfortably is an amazing achievement and only a tiny portion of the success they’ve built for themselves. There aren’t many other channels that have been able to attract a fanbase across the globe and despite not being the most highly subscribed channel have still made an impact across the world, getting interactions from fans worldwide and the thing that makes them special is the fact that they respond to their fans and continually strengthen the bond they have with the community

There is a cookbook from 1390AD called "The Forme of Cury" and I think you should really let the chefs and normals try to recreate some dishes from there. It is written entirly in an old form of english, and it would be hilarious to see the guys try to decipher what to do :D

I'm not entirely horrid at history but it seems the book Ben draws from skews heavily towards 20th century history and that's not my strong suit - it's often more sort of cultural references than what I think of as "real" history. ETA: Basically, yeah, this was within my lifetime, why the heck would I think of some fancy airplane flight that happened within my lifetime. I was thinking something to do with the EU. A now defunct plane that was a sort of dead end? Made history? I think it's too recent to say with any confidence whether it really did. So I got "Ken and Graham" in the previous one - I happen to be sort of accidentally collecting different editions of that book. The rest leaves me mostly lost. 🫤 And it's kind of a shame because I love the concept. Further ETA: Did not expect myself to get so salty about the Concorde, but apparently for some inexplicable reason I am. 😅 But I think mainly it's the disappointment - I watch Tasting History and Townsends, so Elvis & the Concorde were... a bit of a letdown. 🙄

08:49 - and this is the only time I have ever maybe had an idea of what it might be and I think it's related to the concord, my grandparents used to visit France a lot and I always remember my Grandad who was an engineer having a bit of a fascination with it. Excited to see the rest of the video but I think I've got it at 7:50 (thanks to some knowledge and confirmed by the verbal clues): "The Concorde Plane first trip over the Atlantic Menu". Why ? : French techniques everywhere + champagne + cheese plates. French chefs are involved (easy for me, i'm french). However it's not that exceptionnaly complicated for the era (plus the lobster salad has this "Nouvelle Cuisine" Vibe). Then the menu is not that difficult to cater : The lobster salad is obviously posh but very simple and can be prepared in advance and stored in a fridge, same for the fresh fruits and cheese. Even the beef main course can be prepared in advance and just re-heated at the last minute with minimal equipment. So that seems logical for this menu to be a kind of supersonic picnic. I might be wrong as soon as I press the Play button but this seens clear in my head. Let's discover how wrong I am.

2:13 Once I heard the “to win or Toulouse” I thought immediately of Concorde, then I heard the “harmony between two nations” i.e. like a flight path, and its beginnings from 1969 onwards, aerospace development, and the BANG like a sonic boom, I shouted Concorde each time. 2.12 as soon as Ben said do you want to win or Toulouse. Something to do with Concorde. The first flight was from Toulouse in March 1969. The saddest day in aviation history was 26th November 2003 with Concorde G-BOAF landing at Filton, the last every flight of the most beautiful aircraft ever built and an amazing achievement from the engineers in Britain and France who only had drawings slide rules and models in wind tunnels to work with. As many celebrities said of the last flight from JFK to London, the day aviation went backwards.

Knowing a little bit about the history of the thing at the center of the event (being vague to not spoil it for anyone) - I've seen a venue where it might have been served, in fact - every hint makes sense in hindsight. I know what the two nations are in this. And the small number of chefs versus the large number of diners absolutely makes sense. But the fruits completely threw me for a loop. I would never have guessed what the menu was for, and for the life of me I can't imagine how anyone got that right. But that might just be because I'm an American and wouldn't be as impacted by the event as you all in the UK.

8:00 minutes first flight of the Concorde, because that was a revolutionary event in air travel in 1969 and the between two nations clue since Concorde was a major collaboration between Britain and France. I thought it might be this but then I remembered that I actually do know some of the dishes served on the Titanic - and that they're surprisingly disappointing.

I thought that too, but surely lobster + mango would only be invented in the more modern era where people can access both ingredients fairly easily

I'm playing along and just paused at 2:29 - I think it maybe the menu from Concorde. The hint that made me think this is when Ben said "to win or to lose (Toulouse)". Concorde was made in Toulouse and also made its maiden flight from there. I'll edit once I finish the video! EDIT: Yay! Got it right ☺️ great video guys

My daughter and I have figured out that Mike is in most normal of the normals, Barry is the most pretentious, and Jamie is somewhere in between. Lol

Mike is the most normal overall, Barry the most pretentious, and Jamie's taste in cooking is the most representative of a blue collar or agricultural worker.

@@no_activity Yes! I couldn't find the words to describe Jamie, but that's it perfectly! My daughter says that Barry and Jamie are almost not normals anymore because of all the know and can do. Mike, bless his heart, is definitely still normal and we love him for it!

@@mrs.thomas-usmcwife5686 my thought is that Mike is just as knowledgeable and competent as the other two, he just panics under pressure. I'm sure all three create excellent meals on a regular basis.

@@no_activity Oh yeah, I agree. When given the time needed they could all make some great stuff. However, that inner panic button Mike has makes him more normal and fabulous to watch.

I didn’t guess it (was too busy taking notes on the salad), but I did see it, flying overhead when they brought one to Waco, Texas for the 1986 Air Expo. I was merging onto I-35 and had an excellent view!

8:32 Fall of the Berlin wall was my guess. Oh well, should have sticked with the flight. The plenty of seasoning for high altitude when your taste buds go kinda numb was a good clue at the start.
