9 years? stop lying. I'd believe you if you said you learned 9 years ago, but you're saying you've been playing for that much time. I've been playing for 8 and a half years, and I did not really learn anything from Brett and Eddy in terms of classical theory. All I learned were the simple mechanics of the violin. I watch twoset purely for entertainment because I can relate as I am very fond of music theory in both jazz and classical theory. I do see beginners learning a lot from twoset. But a pianist who's been playing for 9 years? If you're not lying, then chances are is that there is something wrong with either your memory or perception of time.

In her defense, in German, the recorder is also called 'flute'. However, the sound that came out was clearly from a legit flute and not a recorder. In addition, if you want to catch the sound of the recorder with a mic, you'd have to point it at the top of the flute, where the sound is created, and not at the bottom hole. I have to tell this story here. Once on my school they invited a super good director, he had this amazing idea of playing a video live made by the students of the school. He had wrote the score. They hired a professional orchestra, and the choir of the school participated (I was there). There was something odd on the rehearsals, the musicians knew it but the choir didn't. Here's what happened. The orchestra was playing live, but the "director" decided to play some midi audios while the orchestra was playing. The concert was a mess, the voices where live. I don't now why he did that, but it was really disrespectful for everyone, the musicians and the public. It happened a couple years ago but I'm sure I'm never going to forget it. We really doubt he was a real director, he didn't even knew how to count or mark entrances. The music was amazing, if he was really the composer he is amazing but I doubt that a real composer would do that to his composition. Hope you understand, I'm knew at learning English. @K Lu @I am a potato This is actually from a telenovela, the orchestra was hired to try and make the scene more realistic. The telenovela was basically about a girl who loved playing violin. That's why she's there in the first place. The orchestra was part of the whole act. The telenovela was fairly good plot-wise and such, but the actress couldn't fake playing violin for the life of her so they had to hire people who could actually play to accompany her to draw attention somewhat away from her for the most part :/

This is the first time all week that I’ve had the time to sit and watch KZbin and it’s 11pm on a Friday. I know that I can rely on TwoSet to help me through all this because even if it’s just for 10 mins, I get to relax and I am reminded why I play violin. TRUE STORY: I was moving across the US and stayed in Tennessee for a night at a motel. I was traveling with a pedal harp and had to bring it into my motel room for the night. Unfortunately, I was on the second story and there were no elevators ☹️ so I had to take it up an outdoor flight of stairs. I started slowly pulling it up with my harp dolly and some friendly dude nearby asked, "Hey, do you need help?" For the safety of the harp, I don't let people touch it unless I've trained them, but I will let people open doors and spot me in case of emergency. So this dude is spotting me and asks, "Is this a cello?" ... It's over 60 lbs and harp shaped, so this implied that he had never seen a harp or a cello before. "Haha, no. It's a harp." I thanked him for his help, had a good laugh and wished him a good night. The next morning, I had to move the harp down the same flight of stairs. A thoughtful woman asked if she could help, so I let her spot me. "You're pretty confident to be moving such a big instrument by yourself." *Pause* "I've never seen a cello before. Pretty cool!" 😂🤦♀️ Moral of the story, plenty of people don't even know what these instruments look like, so you can't expect them to know how they're played.

Thanks for exposing this scam. I noticed them popping up at every shopping center parking lot over the last 4 months (since March 2023 in my area Southern CA). I didn't know about this scam until now (June 18th), so I believed the first fake violinist I saw and gave the young teenagers (sister holding beggar sign and brother fakes playing violin) a $5 tip. I wasn't sure for the second time I saw a different fake violinist, I thought he might be family with the first beggars (different ages; looked related). I started getting a bit suspicious after about the 5th (+/-) one I saw just last week (June 12th). I said, this can't be possible to have this many high-level violinists that are destitute and begging for money. So, giving them a benefit of a doubt, I wondered if perhaps they might be the migrants from Venezuela, I learned about from a PBS documentary, regarding Venezuelan orchestral string players leaving their country to find work. I don't know, does anyone know where theses fake musicians are from originally? But then I started getting really suspicious as I noticed the lack of vibrato and inconsistent bowing with the backing track playing the SAME set of contemporary tunes: Aladdin's "A Whole New World," theme some from Titanic, the Cold Play song, Elton John's "Sacrifice," the "Hallelujah Song." etc. My suspicion prompted me to investigate the internet, and that's how I found your video.

*Fun story:* once on a family trip to West Virginia, we were eating dinner in this restaurant. There was supposed to be a band but they were late to arrive, which was announced and apologized for. Suddenly this old man is standing on the stage, introducing himself as Jerry and claiming that he had 19 Academy Award nominations and had won 12. He sets up his laptop and says that he recorded the piano backing track - I could clearly see it was a random youtube video. He starts playing Do You Want To Build A Snowman from Frozen and tells us that he wrote it. At this point I’m like “this guy seems a little overqualified...” He begins walking around the restaurant with his UNPLUGGED electric violin while the music is obviously coming from the stage speaker. As a violin student, I’m like “...is this guy actually faking this rn?” So I watch his fingerings and bowings - he’s slurring on separated notes, his fingers go up when the pitch goes down, all his string crossings are incorrect, etc. At this point I tell the rest of my family and we all get a laugh out of it. Props to Jerry, he made my night and literally everyone else in the restaurant believed him.

It’s one thing to get an oboe and clarinet mixed up, but getting a flute and clarinet mixed up is unacceptable
@Context.Required4 жыл бұрын
Wait, how? I understand getting an Alto Recorder and a Soprano Clarinet mixed up, but a Flute (I'm a Clarinet player by the way)? To be fair though, in my band class, some of my fellow Clarinet players would hold their Clarinets in the same way a Flute player would hold their instrument.
@aminawinterwater29154 жыл бұрын
The flute is unique in the way it is held and played (To the side instead of in front of you). I don’t understand how people get it mixed up with other instruments. I’m a flute player, by the way, so the recorder-flute mixup really triggered me.
@AntonNidhoggr3 жыл бұрын
@@aminawinterwater2915 Well it's easy to explain. For a non-musician any (not huge) wind instrument not clearly made from brass is 'a flute'. Somewhere near the bassoon size it becomes 'a tuba' :-) Btw 'the recorder' term I believe is unique to English. In most languages it's some kind of a 'flute'. In mine it's called - 'blockflute'!
@aminawinterwater29153 жыл бұрын
@@AntonNidhoggr I guess that makes sense. But she was from the US, as far as I know, so she probably should know the recorder term. And I was speaking from my experience. I started playing flute about 3 years ago, but I could identify a flute long before that.

I once let my step-brother try to hold and possibly play my viola. What he actually did was take my bow and use it as a sword. He ended up hitting the bow on my closet edge and many strings came off, so now I have a thin bow. please don't let your siblings touch your viola/violin etc. :,)

Yeah, I play viola as well and I used my sisters old viola, and when it was still hers a somehow made the tightening thing on the end of the bow pop off and I had to get it fixed when I went to school. Moral of the story don’t let younger siblings touch your instrument unless they know how to play it

@yashbspianoandcompositions10424 жыл бұрын
Yes she faked it ( By autotune). And she doesn't even know that she was playing a recorder than a 'flute.' That's why I dislike these musicians who want to play the instrument for the fans and not for themselves.

Someone else’s comment: "Un camino hacia el destino" was a very popular Mexican telenovela and the main character (the girl who was playing) was a violinist. That's how they had her "play" the violin during performance scenes in the show (I guess as a way to show how much she feels the music). I don't know if this was an actual live performance or if it was a BTS of a scene they were filming, but l'm pretty sure everyone knew it was fake as the actress isn't a real violinist herself.
