It's the same concept as Google Glass, which was released in 2012. Google Glass had similar features to the Meta Ray-Ban, except for AI, I suppose. However, the project was stopped due to concerns about privacy, public safety, and its high price. Google then shifted their focus to B2B customers before discontinuing the product more recently. Meta likely sees this as a market opportunity because timing is a major factor in successful product penetration. In my opinion, even today, regardless of the growing creator economy, this product won't succeed unless there are proper governance measures in place. It has no chance in the EU due to their strict data privacy laws but might work in countries where privacy and data regulations are less stringent.

nah , I don't think so this will show real day to day life, in fact what I think would happen to those day streamers who stream their life, instead of being pretentious (or put up an act)for a particular video, post, interview, etc they will change their mundane lives so that it aligns to whatever aesthetics mainstream at that time. And thing about privacy is, it does not matter, till somebody is behind you due to your political agenda, or a comment or something, obviously it does not matter if you don't stand for anything and just want to say what people wants to hear. People will be authentic and share everything - good and bad of their life, never heard that line before, LOL! When these glasses become common, people will start flinching, google glass was a failure because of a reason. Topping the phone is not going to be an easy task. OpenAI will take a shot at it and likely fail, because the fundamental question is this - how will the product provide a dopamine hit rate which is higher than that of a phone? What about long term radiation effects of wearing a device continuously around the head? Why do people with extreme amount of money priviledge always say - screw privacy for everyone?

I have been wearing glasses for the last 15 years, here is my take: I am not going to use it unless its a matter of my life. This is a great tech and can compliment mobile. I can also see the use cases like for ex: In a factory, when we want to have a "supervision" from your superior or act as eyes for a visually challenged person. It is going to be interesting to see how the world adapts to it.

They should've collaborated with open AI for chatgpt Omni. Now I feel it's going to be harder for them to do so since apple already collaborated with open AI for Apple intelligence and stuff. So we're most probably going to see apple glasses, integrated with chatgpt Omni which is going to be legendary (in my opinion), but I also feel that apple might just be stubborn and just modify vision pro.

i love his videos, its just so natural and authentic than any other youtuber just making such videos for views, i mean its okay but the person who actually in the technology for the very long time and have experience have an extra edge over others, i love this one as well, some thoughts that i think about the glasses - ofcourse all the other big tech will get into the glasses, but i think meta still gonna win this battle by giving access to the devs. meta already have very good ecosystem for devs for building applications for mobile and web, i am sure the zuck is bullish on this by any other competitor, he knows the consumer game really well

What you’re suggesting is only possible assuming someone streams their life 24/7 (which someone can already do with regular cameras if they chose to, but probably don’t as it’s not a sustainable lifestyle) - which the current hardware (battery/heat distribution) in this form factor can’t support.

Tried these glasses in Italy recently and I felt it was just another gimmick. But this video changed my views. Integrating GPT 4o with these glasses will be a game changer!
