Great work. Just got one for my Sony too for video work. Looking forward to some tight cinematic style shots

I keep hearing about Viltrox’s autofocus being great, but my TTArtisan 56mm f/1.8 has this dreamy, manual vibe I love for portraits. It’s a different experience but totally worth it.

Fantastic review, fam. Beautifully produced, balanced insghts, tips and tricks. Awesome. I have been looking at a telephoto as my permanent lens (it's currently the Viltrox 23mm f1.2) and I think this plastic fantastic could just be the one. Nice one!

It is too perfect for street photography and overall food photography hahah The autofocus is such a must too! I remember my first Nikon 50mm 1.8D. The manual focus kills me 🥲

Yongnuo 50 1.8 DA DSM, ( not the pro version ). Very impressive, fast and reliable auto-focus, focuses much closer. Its even lighter ( 134 g ) and cheaper ( 130€ vs 200€ )where I live. ( Optically not as good ( sharp wide open, but with a lot of CA ). Handles flare very well, and doesn't suffer from lost of contrast wide open. Perfect for casual portrait/general photography, if you don't mind CA, wich is correctable in post. Nice video, love your comunnication style

It seems like the TTArtisan 56mm/f1.8 is a competitor. Curious to see how these two compare.
@Oliver46233Ай бұрын
I thought I’d go with Viltrox’s 56mm at first, but the TTArtisan has caught my eye with its reputation for being more ‘artistic.’ I’m looking for a lens with a bit of character, but I don’t want to sacrifice too much sharpness either. Has anyone here found TTArtisan to be solid for portraits while still delivering sharpness in the center?

I'd say that ttartisan 56mm/f1.8 might be better since they perform quite the same and ttartisan is cheaper.

Have you also tried the Viltrox 27mm f1.2 pro? It's hands down the best lens I've ever used in fuji system.
@Geekception8 ай бұрын
that is a lens I really really wanna try. can't afford it right now but hopefully I can get it in the future
@npdady8 ай бұрын
@@Geekception yeah, it is a tad bit expensive. I got mine off of Carousell for RM1800. It's basically permanently stuck on my X-T20. Imagine a perfectly sharp, contrasty and all image quality you could want from an image, at F1.2. That's what you get from this lens. No need to get a full frame already. Haha.
@Geekception8 ай бұрын
seriously that's the dream! I'd use it for my talking head shots because I think it would do so well

I love a small lens like that on the XS-20. So nice and compact.
@Liam-c9u3r3 ай бұрын
This lens is quite good. But TTArtisan 56mm performs pretty much the same. I bought one recently and it's really sharp for portraits and the metal finish feels really high-quality.

ttartisan 56 1.8 or viltrox 56mm 1.7 better?
@nickawat91027 ай бұрын

TTartisan actually released a AF 56mm 1.8 quite recently as well! Seems super cool that these budget brands are starting to give af equivalents tho, got the ttartisan 27mm af as well (even tho I sadly almost never use it, which is weird because I love the images I have taken with it 🤣)
@Julian-y3v3h13 күн бұрын
I was going to grab the Viltrox, but after seeing images from the TTArtisan 56mm, I’m second-guessing. The TTArtisan’s price is so much lower, and the image quality looks incredibly sharp. Anyone used both for portraits?
@zyxyuv165011 күн бұрын
The Viltrox is sharp to the edge of the frame, the TTArtisan becomes blurry at the edges. You can compare Christopher Frost's resolution chart because he reviewed both lenses. As for pricing, the TTArtisan costs $20 less than the Viltrox, that's not really significant. Maybe you were looking at the wrong pricing and thinking of the f/1.4 instead. The Viltrox 56/1.4 XF costs $100 more and is an entirely different lens from the one being reviewed in this video.

Nice review bud, subscribed! I have the same setup as you, X-S20 + Sigma 18-50mm + Viltrox 13mm, and too was interested in this new 56mm... I also have a 7artisans 35mm f1.4 mark II, that I paid only 60 euros from Aliexpress, and must say it's an incredible lens, even taking away the ridiculous low price, its small, light and sharp.. but what pains me is that its somewhat hard to nail focus at 1.4, so end up using it more often at 1.8, which is way am considering getting this Viltrox, since it's AF, manual lens are nice to play with, but sometimes can be annoying :D (BTW, I am considering Viltrox 27mm too, but find it too damn big / heavy) Just to answer on what you mentioned towards the end of the video, yes, there is another similar lens from TTartisans 56mm f1.8, but I think personally, still prefer the Viltrox one, and am considering buying it - and ALSO, Viltrox has already stated they will release a new PRO lens f.12 for APS-C later this year, but they havent yet informed the focal length, but since there is 27 and 75, we can guess will be around 50..

i think is a perfect lens for shooting portraits at 1.7. The softness at 1.7 is very good for people portraits. It's going to be flaterring. you don't need details of peoples skin.
