TTartisans really punches above their weight class. I've been pleasantly surprised by every one I've tried. Great for shoring up random focal coverage gaps at ludicrous cheap buy-in. Stopped down, they perform fine but there is a cool character to them opened up a bit. At least from my experience. This one is a bit of a behemoth lol. Glad it exists, though. Perfect for a lot of people.

I'm buying this lens and adapting it my Zf. So far I have 4 50mm lol. But this one has to be the best quality built TTArtisan has ever made. It looks like a 10K lens. It probably performs at 80% compared to the Leica, but that's looking at it through a photographer's eye.

Some decent photographs there. I used to be a ' tech ' for an importer of some highly exotic computer driven astronomical telescopes. These were originally the US made MEADE brand. The Chinese Sunny Optics took the company over and almost immediately the emphasis from maintenace and repair changed, to replacement. Chinese go for mass production and this means that QC, and critical intrument calibration goes out of the window, not only due to the cost but also because of the time it takes to do them and the number of fails that will not have to be dealt with. This is why they don't calibrate their lenses. In any case, and this is my personal opinion, that I consider the use of a 0.95 lens on a range finder at best risky as far as focusing is concerned. I have been using Leica M cameras, both film and digital, for longer that I care to remember and I still can not hit the focus with my M6 and my 35 Summicron F1.4 ASPH more than half the time. It is that difficult with a range finder and one of the reasons that I always suggest to my friends to stick to F2 lenses with M cameras. These sort of fast lenses will do much better on something like a Leica SL line of cameras with their EVFs, effective IBIS and focus confirmation.

Service is a Loss! So the way is to sell more! The RF of Leica-M was for maximum of 50mm f2.!! Anything more is chancy. I was allowed use of prototype Noctilux .50mm f1.2. Most of my full aperture images were Out of Focus! The limited depth of field, a no-no! Pushing crap, sorry!

Tell me about it. The US owned company that I work for, don't even want the ' end of line ' test on each finished unit. We do a ' life test ', some product compliance ( not regulatory compliance ) testing and the VPs and Senior managers assume that everything is honky dory, far from it. No RF system, no matter how accurately machined and calibrated , can be relied on to get the focus accurate since it relies on a curve machined in a metal cam. If people want to use these super fast lenses, the best practice is to have the lens calibrated to the RF and just leave it there and not change lenses. @@jasongold6751

I had this lens, but the standard, not titanium, but comparing it to my canon 50/0.95 you just cant compare. TTartisan version is great and sharp, bokeh is super smooth, but you can get that from modern glass imo, just not really 0.95 Great video nevertheless, i really enjoyed this video man, awesome photos of an awesome event 😍

This was fun to watch! Really like the photos you got! Personally I like longer focal length like this or longer. (Though I don’t do street photography like you do. By the way, do you have access to a GFX? Would love to see a comparison between this and the Mitakon 65mm 1.4, which has a 50mm field of view. It’s much heavier though at right over 1kg. And the cameras are probably heavier too, I think mine is about 1 kg.

It doesn't send aperture values back to the camera right? How do you keep track of what apertures you used for all the photos?
@AAJJ0073 ай бұрын
The comparison at 7:30 is wild! IF (a big IF) they are indeed both at f/1.8, why is the bokeh so much creamier out of the TTArtisan? (The difference appears to be c.0.5 stops. That's massive!) Is it because (1) they are not in fact at the same aperture, or (2) because the front element of the TTArtisan is so much bigger? What do you think?
@FedThePoopy11 ай бұрын
Congrats on 100k! At what aperture can you somewhat reliably focus on the rangefinder? On my bessa I feel like my shots are a little bit off even at f4 sometimes, kinda curious what it's like on something with such a high res sensor

i don't like ttartisan, because i don't like how they put their fonts on the lens. i always ask myself, how can a company do such lenses and have not the engagement to brand it with some elegance. it is a stupid reason, i know.

@thealaris5 ай бұрын
He had some shots on f0.95 and there are plenty night shots from other reviewers, it's much more interesting to see how lens perform in general, it has a variable aperture for a reason
@MuppetChops5 ай бұрын
@@thealaris I know. But you buy a 0.95 for 0.95. Otherwise there are much better options at 1.2 or 1.8 for general use
@thealaris5 ай бұрын
@@MuppetChops Yes, you buy f0.95 for its maximum aperture, but you also buy such lenses as they tend to produce sharper images when slightly closed, maby not in this case, but a lot of f1.2 lenses will tend to be sharper on f1.4 or f1.8 than lenses with same maximum aperture of f1.4 and f1.8, it's just gives you more versatility in general use, so especially when it's already 3.6 years old lens and has a lot of real life reviews, it's great to see what it's capable of in more general scenarios, that you probably will be shooting more often than cranking aperture wide open and trying to focuse with such a shallow dof🤷♂️
@dakotaxu47925 ай бұрын
The moment you stop this lens down you lose all the benefits of 0.95
