In my fishing village everyone feeds stray cats. There are cat food trays everywhere more than the cats can eat. I know a man who buys a lot of cat food daily and goes around late at night feeding the strays, the cats actually waiting for him and he knows all of them. I'm amazed at the amount he spends on the foods yet he's looking like a poor jobless guy.

I am binge watching your content and saw this cat thumbnail! And saw someone familiar. I adopted a cat from Rhadd's colleague! He and Michelle helped me promote some of my foster cats recently. It's been almost a year of adopting a cat, there was some challenges. But I have to say there are lack of awareness among malaysians about cat ownership. Growing up, my parents wont let me have cats because of the responsibilities and commitment, but I'm glad I did! Malaysia still has a long way to go about awareness in adopting pets!

I would love to volunteer with cats here, but I don’t think my visa will permit it. The cats here are very friendly and I have seen them fed. I have met people who own 4-5 cats. Actually the population in Malaysia is quite balance to take care of stray cats and dogs problem. 60% of Muslim population and let's say 10-20% of non Muslims cat lovers, they should take care of cat strays problem adequately. In the last 10 years, more cat owners are open to spay and neuter their cats to combat the stray cat population, so it's a good progress but slow. Then we have 40% of non Muslims that can keep dogs. The problem is they don't want to, or even want to adhere by the rules to license and be a responsible pet owner by neutering their dogs, causing a lot of stray dogs issues in their neighborhood. To make the matter worse, they will call the authority to take care of their stray dogs, then cry that the Muslims kill dogs. If only our large population of non Muslims actually be a responsible dog owner, we wouldn't have the stray dog problem in the first place.

Good morning to both of you…I was shocked to hear bout those people wanted to drown cats in Penang..as a local i know and never heard Malaysian do such thing unless they are psychos!…Im pretty sure those are foreign workers since you mentioned ‘security guards’…i had a friend who lived in one neigbourhood where by ever since this place flooded with foreign workers from Viatnm and Myanmar..the cats and dogs population droped drastically…these people eat cats and dogs!..I am sorry but as a cat lover i would never go to a country that eat cats as their special delicacy??! sickening as if there is nothing else to eat!Nevertheless there is a misunderstanding on issues with Muslim hating dogs..we dont hate dogs, we can rear them as guard dogs /farm dogs just not as pets that u bring into your home…because they are considered dirty hence if one touch them while they are wet or it’s saliva on you then we ought to have it wash in certain way accordingly.

Kuala Lumpur is so modern . KL Sentral is the hub for transportation and so easy to get anywhere. But, it and the surrounding Selangor state have a high rate of dengue fever. This is surprising because you expect that to happen in a forest region and not a place that looks like New York City. I did not come across mosquitoes in KL like in Bangkok or in Siem Reap, so I wouldn’t ever think that there is a problem with dengue.

Good morning Taylor.. Interesting video.. Most Malaysians prefer cats to dogs because dogs especially the stray/street dogs bring some fetal diseases such as rabies like the case just happened in Sarawak recently, and dogs are quite dangerous when attacking people who walk in the streets or even to the delivery men or postmen, old people and children.. they will bite and cause more serious injuries... whereas street cats they don't do harm like dogs do, normally they will come asking for food or they'll just run or hide away when seeing strangers..😁Btw, Malaysians don't eat rats like our neighbours do that's why you can see many of rats living around here 😂

Rat population is controlled to a certain extent by the Local Councils and Health Dept. by regulations. If during a regular check rats are found in eating places the Health authorities will issue a shut down order until the problem is rectified. In my younger days in the 60's, in my town, 110 miles (176 km) northwest of Kuala Lumpur, the Local Council issued rat traps to locals and paid 3 cents (worth 25 sen presently) for each dead rat brought in. Soon unscrupulous locals started breeding rats and cashed in on the bonanza. The plan was abandoned when found out.

Cats are actually having far better life here in Malaysia than dogs. It's nuisance when cats break into someone house to do their business.😅 But stray dogs are mostly got killed after being caught by the council.

Interesting gentleman, he’s a musician, but didn’t elaborate on that? I think street dogs can be a big problem, anywhere in Asia, that doesn’t seem to be dealt with in a way that we do in the west?

This may sound really ignorant, but because of government hospital are cheap, so spay and neuter are not something most people would do... Vet bill is not subsidised by government... I've seen people raise cats but not to the extent of how in the west do... 🤔 Like it is a pet, it is an animal but not a child/family... Again just my observation... There are people who do take care of their pets (including dog) really well but mostly on average they don't spoilt their cat like a child... A human child. 😅 And i don't agree with what you said about cat in Malaysia act cute so they can get food, usually stray cat is feed by many people, so they're "used to" mingling with human.. unlike in the west, sorry to say... (Strays animal shouldn't roam around without a home type of mindset) - and you caught them and sometimes put them to death. Cats rolling over, human touching their nose, touching their belly, cats rubbing all over human leg.. that's normal thing to see. The stray mostly are not afraid of human... It surprised me when i watch a lot of animal (cat especially) videos in the west saying, usually cat won't do that, they won't do this with human unless bla bla bla... 😮 I couldn't fathom that. 🤔 There is korean and japanese KZbinr (I've found) said that the situation of the stray cats in their country are similar in the west, the stray cats are wary of people... Again, you don't have to agree with what i said, it's just a matter of observation and opinions, also perspective. And i also agree with the general message that you said cat in Malaysia compared to how it is treated in the west are not treated as it should based on your own perspective. Different way of seeing things . 😊😅
