The GH7 is awesome just like pretty much all the cameras available today, but what I like about LUMIX cameras in general are all the features you get like Open Gate which make a huge difference especially in the world we live today where deliverables are in 16:9 and 9:16.

Really? I think the price is great! They never told me what the price was and I kept telling people that I thought it was going to be around $800. So when I found out today that it is $549 I was actually blown away. You can't buy a good 7" Monitor that can record internally at this price point. I feel the closest is the Atomos Shogun and that doesn't even have wireless transmission. If you think about it for a little over $1,000 you can buy 2 of these and have an onboard monitor that's actually REALLY good, a wireless transmission system and a directors monitor for viewing. I don't think anyone is doing anything remotely close to what Hollyland is doing and I be they're going to sell a ton of these.

Hollyland's ahead of the rest in wireless transmission. I'm sure they could release a zero latency Teradek killer but they're aiming at a lower price segment.

But they are not ahead...They are kinda behind both Accsoon only now releasing a dual band capable system and DJI running out in front with OccuSync in this lower tier. They also do have a zero latency system, have for years. It's their Cosmo 600 line that directly competes with Teradek and generally while better on set, haven't broken that professional preference for the name Teradek anymore than DJI are finding with their pro Transmission lineup has managed.

@@avx111 I work in distribution of camera gears and i can say it will be hard cause teradek holds multiple patents for zero latency transmission, so unless hollyland, or any other brand really, invents some ground breaking transmission protocol, it will be quite hard to beat

seems like a solid monitor but there are a few open questions.. whats the latency? would've been nice to see the latency hands waving in smooth mode, not only hq mode, what about cooling? how loud is the fan? resolution?

Latency is 0.06 I actually do wave hands in smooth mode you can see @2:19 I never noticed any fan noise at all, I did leave it in Auto and did film in 110 degree weather. To be honest wasn't even paying attention to it. Resolution on monitor is 1080P.

You can buy smaller Antennas, I'm sure it will work without them but if you need longer range it will probably suffer connection issues.

@@brucegarrod no it’s all good! although it sucks I do absolutely love their stuff so I ended up just purchasing a pyro s transmitter and use the 7 as my focus pulling monitor. Sucks that I have 2 extra cables but this would be the same if I was using a teradeck, so it works 😅

Looks like a fantastic monitor. Does it record to the monitor in 4K as well? Also, I noticed there weren't batteries on the back of the monitor you were using. Can the monitor be powered by the HDMI connection? Thanks for the review!

It only records in 1080P the monitor can be powered by NPF batteries or DC input which is what I was using. They also sell a kit to make it V-Mount or Gold mount.

As I understand, its not compatible with 5 inch Mars M1 monitor? If its true it is a bummer, i waited this 7inch monitor just for that reason: keep the 5 inch monitor on-camera and 7 inch for client/director. Now we have 2 separate product lines incompatible with each other 😢

I don't think so, because in setting the option is to put one in either Receiver or Transmitter. Hence I guess you can not make it transmit and receive at the same time. May the question (which I'm also curious is, can you connect SDI in and put the monitor in Receive so that you can have two feeds (one from the mounted camera via SDI, and another signal via another transmitter/monitor via wireless to the monitor) and switch different source?

@@loudmotion5639 Yup but DJI isn't 4K and also doesn't have a monitor, 60ms vs 35 in all honesty we're splitting hairs. You can watch our film No Good Legend which is an action movie and myself and 2 other AC's didn't have any issues pulling focus, otherwise you'd see it in the film which it was tack sharp.

@@mondobytes I’ve been curious about the DJI’s 1080p vs Hollyland’s 4K. The DJI signal is 20Mb/s whereas the 4K from the Hollyland maxes out at 12 if memory serves. Seems like a higher bitrate 1080p signal could potentially outclass low bitrate 4K. It’s 4x the resolution at 60% of the bitrate
