Incase it has not been said or people just dont know. To retain manually installed items you need to store the ship whit the new modules in it and then go to loadout and swap anything and hit save. Boom your looted weapons now persist through insurance claims.

1. To keep your scaved equipment loadouts, just send the ship to storage, open vehicle manager, unequip something (doesnt matter what) save loadout, then re-equip it, and save again. 2. A tip for getting into a landed hammerhead, park the corsair cockpit-to-cockpit and use the roof elevator to access the hammerhead's docking port. If it's parked on level ground, you can walk straight from the corsair's roof into the hammerhead. :)

I've been doing this for the last year, the 4.0 preview was beautiful for it, especially around the jump Portal. I used the stanton gateway as a base as the amount of DC ships around the jump point is amazing. I've found Polaris's full with slam and eggs just sat there. I usually take a P-52 out and then take the actual ship back to hanger to strip.

Most likely they will give weapons that came from one of your own claimed ships a tag just like cargo gets a "contracted" tag during hauling missions. This would prevent you from being able to sell components from you or a friend's ship while still being able to sell other player's weapons. That or they just wont add it back in for a while since it is very abusable.

@DTOXTV maybe the problem lies more on the insurance thing. There's ships abandoned all over the place. You lose your ship, just wait a little bit or pay a little fee, and there you go, as many times as u want. I know that with the current state, punishing dead too much can be unfair because of the bugs, but they have to think in a way of nerf that, like increasing the amount of the fee for claims with each claim on a period of time, or something like that.
@tylerjackson8543
@tylerjackson8543 4 күн бұрын
Maybe a tag marking components you own, but also a timer that is some fixed amount (think days) that would nerf the price of the component until it expired. so you can sell items you scavenged for full price, and your own components for full price provided you've waited the necessary amount of time.

Little config tip DTOX, you can set your weapons convergence point, which is where your weapons projectiles will all briefly meet if you're not locked onto a target. It you set it to something between 50-80m, you can just stay exactly that distance away and your weapons will all fire to your crosshairs center. Makes it much easier for killing NPCs on the ground from your ship.

@DTOX you could make it where any item taken into storage gets a ID#, and ID# items are un storable (or sellable) until the ship is stored (/with saved new items) for a person who generated the ID#. Wouldn't stop people from trying some weird work around with other people giving them their ships but it would make it impossible / and trackable who is duping items and how / when.
@andrewna9628
@andrewna9628 6 күн бұрын
Not really. How does that determine if it is legitimate salvage from your own wreck? Like if you get blown up you are not allowed to go back and try to salvage what remains? What if you come across idk 10 hammerheads but you didn't know it was all from the same person doing scrapping. It's legitimate salvage to you but still technically shows up as duping in the tracking of the system. Also component trading would just overwrite the ID# if it is based on when it gets stored. As long as you get top tier components for free from insurance there is no system that can really prevent duping. The best you can do is slow it's pace but you run into potentially harming legit players.
@NeverAnotherNephilim
@NeverAnotherNephilim 6 күн бұрын
@@andrewna9628 the point is there is no legit self salvage from an insured ship. Either its coming back in insurance, and you have to let it go, or your ship is saved with other components. Yeah i don't think you can stop a mutliple hop switch with this system / people "washing" parts under their friends storage.. As far as you point about it giving false flags, i didn't mean for to implement the system for automatic punishment, just logging who is cheating. If someone is duping the same items "on accident" over and over again type of thing .. Idk i still think its a ez fix to stop most of the cheating and catch most of the cheaters. Just not the people willing to go waayyy out of the way

Maybe even kamikaze if I'd lost big beforehand 😂 I'm definitely into the Scanvenger thing...looting is my bread n butter after a protect the bunker mission. Had one problem this week, finished a mission, looted everything in bunker. A freelancer was close to the bunker and looked like the turrets had hit it. Had 8 minutes remaining before trespassing. I made the mistake of stepping inside the wreck. Soon as I stepped aboard the turrets blew up my loaded Cutty Red. Ended up pulling the boxes out of my burning ship an running them up the hill...to come back later to retrieve. Only the turrets took out my Constellation Taurus... Bailed for the night.

They could link items to a ship's ID (like a VIN) and, if you sell your own stuff, you get a fine, no money, and/or additional time on your next insurance claim. The reclaim time could be longer as they have to "source new components" for it. Or.... They could also take a more real-life approach: Have a system to check if someone sells components and reclaims the ship multiple times in a particular period of time. If so, you get no money for selling them, get a hefty fine, and get a Crimestat of 2 or higher. Insurance fraud is a real thing, so if the game wants to be a hyper-realistic space game, why not focus on more realism?

The problem with this is you can just have a friend take your parts and sell them, so you need AI insurance claim adjusters that were able to do research and build a case that you are in fact committing fraud.

BLUF: imo the only fix is to add the retail price of components and weapons to the repair cost. You would have a tick-box menu screen at repair with the option to a choose stock component/weapon or the same upgrade you had when you lost the ship; again, at full retail price for a new copy of the lost upgrade or a MUCH reduced price for stock. The only prob is the vast majority of ship loses (esp for non-combat players) is bugs. Still, I do think this would be workable, though obviously not ideal, given the current state of SC.
@someguy5264
@someguy5264 6 күн бұрын
It could be as simple as assigning an ID to all components that get attached to your ship, Identifying it as a ship component that is unique to your ship and that ships iteration ie that particular claim. Then if you Sell a bunch of parts of that ship just before or after it gets claimed, you get flagged, get a certain amount of Flags and you get busted some how. Or even a timer that locks you out of selling comps for ships you claimed.

@Bobby_Go
@Bobby_Go 6 күн бұрын
Assuming that the weapons and components that come with your ship can be tagged, the simplest solution would be to add insurance fraud fees to an insurance claim when the original parts are sold. After some length of time the fees are removed. So if someone claims a ship right after selling a bunch of parts they they would have to "pay back" the amount of the parts in order to reclaim their ship, but if there's a decent time gap between selling the parts and making the claim then there would be no fees. This would let players sell parts to upgrade their ships while hopefully dissuading players from abusing the system. There would be a small risk for players legitimately getting killed soon after legitimately selling off their ships parts, but I would hope that wouldn't happen to too many people. Maybe to mitigate this risk the fees could start at the value of the parts sold and could gradually go down until they are removed? Or maybe the fees don't start at the full value the first time it happens, but then they increase the more times it happens?

Insurance fraud prevention is simple: Every item gets a set ID which sticks to it. And it could add gameplay features like 'hacking'. So, let's say you got a rhino weapon which you stuck onto your own hammerhead. That items should get an ID set of 'Playername'-'shipID'-'shippoint'-'weaponID' to DTOX-DTOXHH01-Tur1A-Rhino(datextimeobtained) and similar setup for other items. Right now, the reason you can do the insurance claim is because upon every spawn, those items get a new ID number. I base that suspicion upon the fact that upon every spawn, your own ships seem to get a new ID, which is bloody odd for a persistant game.
@NozomuYume
@NozomuYume 2 күн бұрын
Because insurance claim is getting a *NEW ITEM*. They're not magically transporting your destroyed ship from the scrapyard or from another station, it's an entirely new hull with a new hull ID. It's the same way when you make an insurance claim on your stolen/wrecked car the replacement car is not your old car, it's a new car with a new VIN, they're not magically pulling your car from the lake it got dumped in and making it new. If you claim your ship your old ship is still out there in the verse. In the past they did make items that came with your ship stock not-sellable, including insurance replacements for those items. Aftermarket items you added, however, remained sellable when claimed from insurance. The problem with making all insurance-provided items unsellable is that it makes players completely immune to being raided for profit from their parts. It provides a strong disincentive for pirates. The real fix will be to make frequent insurance claims more punishing to the player so they have a disincentive to make repeated insurance claims -- this is how it works in real life -- if you wreck your car over and over your insurance rate will go up and eventually nobody will insure you. Unfortunately that would require people to stop treating their ships as disposable items and actually not take as many risks with them.

very simple way to prevent insurance fraud just make it impossible to sell ship components that are used in a "loadout" of a ship. if you want to sell it, first remove it from your ship using the loadout menu the same exact way you would buy a componant

My favourite way of playing doesn't matter because I have been unable to log in all weekend. I'm back to work tomorrow, so that's another lost weekend. I have to chalk up to experience. What a waste of time. Now, my favourite way of playing Star Citizen will be to play litetally any other game until it gets released fully. You guessed it I'll probably never play again.

They just need to put tags on each component that receipts the item to the player

At least you can store your salvaged components. When I attempt to store them they vanish.

I loved doing this, mostly against nocs from bounties or merc missions, had a pretty good stockpile of components and weapons i wanted to sell to other players or help outfit org members. All gone with the latest update... Not gonna be doing this anymore any time soon. Sadly the only thing worth getting in this game is money, everytging else is too ephemeral

I understand how to scav weapons but is there any workaround for not being able to rip out internal ship components like the shields, power supplies, coolers, quantums etc.? I can't fit these manually using a tractor. Only mobiglas which obviously doesn't work

Here's what another commenter left on the video: "Incase it has not been said or people just dont know. To retain manually installed items you need to store the ship whit the new modules in it and then go to loadout and swap anything and hit save. Boom your looted weapons now persist through insurance claims."

@@DTOXTV Interesting, I came across a potential workaround to this components bug as well. I character reset after storing the acquired components in my home hangar on New Babbage. I'm unsure if its what's allowed me to use my components, but they work perfectly just like I purchased them now. Strange, thank you for the tip though.

they could literally have just checked to see if the component came from your ship and nurfed the price of your stuff

The game is in Alpha. If they could make things more stable so that ships weren't being eaten by hanger elevators, they could worry about insurance fraud. Right now I can't even wash the dirt off my Starlancer or repaint the crusty thing. I'm probably going to claim it soon if it doesn't get squashed by the hanger the next time I log in. They're worried about people duping but I can't even leave anything in my ship when I park it at night. meh

CIG should put crime stats on players doing insurance fraud. They have to see it happening in the logs.

Bruh i spent a whole day today collecting weapons and components from abandoned ships to make some profit and decided to call it a day before selling them and here i am, hearing that i can't sell all that stuff anymore...

you can sell it, its just for very very cheap compared to what they cost

They should just do what WoW and other RPG games do with used equipment. If you equip those weapons on your ship, they can no longer be sold at full price. That way looters like you still get your gameplay, and people who are dupping weapons can't do it for a profit. Sure they still get the profit of being able to have a backup weapon on their ship if it ever gets destroyed, but I never had an issue with that. It's the people trying to become millionaires off of dupping that bugs me.
