Is this really a new discovery? Freewell has had magnetic ND filters for a couple years now
@HwayVision Жыл бұрын
For the same price as one filter you get all of them so is the lock worth it to you
@TheTechnoPilot Жыл бұрын
Not to mention that long before Freewell was the now Manfrotto owned Xume magnetic filter adapters which is more than a decade old now and work on any standard filter at the size of your choice.

No you don’t understand, they also add Peter McKinnon’s name to it, so now it’s worth hundreds of dollars!

@@HwayVision Hi, i gotta say this is great. I have 2 gens of freewell filters and those magnetic without lock or anything to hold it in place are great but hell at the same time. I wore my cam on the strap of backpack in Japan and as its only magnetic, the cap fell and as i tried to catch it, the filter fell too to the depths of water.... sooo that is my story with magnetic filters without a lock :D

It would be great if they made a lens hood that fitted as because the Peter McKinnon did not have a thread I sold my two and bought variable NDs that I can screw a lens hood on. I have found that a lens hood certainly makes a difference in very bright sunlight.
@CinemaSteve Жыл бұрын
Wow I’m glad PolarPro adjusted the color cast. I just bought the NiSi VND system earlier this year because of how badly the old PM PolarPro VND’s gave a cast. I couldn’t wait but I wish I knew about these. I might have to invest anyway.
@avx111 Жыл бұрын
I got the NiSi VND on release and have zero regrets, it's almost perfect, everyone else is just catching up.
@CinemaSteve Жыл бұрын
@@avx111 I just lost the stupid knob that turns the VND and locks into the other 6-9 and it cost me $15 to replace it from NiSi lol. Other than that I love em.

Also very very happy with Nisi True Color series as far as the color cast goes. Yes, no magnetic system but then again much much cheaper - best bang for your buck
@CinemaSteve Жыл бұрын
@@chrisnigul yeah I’m tempted to snag a set of these mag lock ones but the price is insane especially since they don’t sell the 1-5 and 6-9 as a set. The NiSi have been fantastic so far so I probably don’t need to waste money on these 😅

I got a NiSi VND too. Very impressed with them, only wish they were magnetic too just to make them quicker to switch out.

My only wish is that they had included standard 82mm threads on their adapter rings. That way if you need to switch to a different filter (one not made by polar pro) you could still keep the adapter ring on.
@shaunaaron Жыл бұрын
Yea agreed, I already have standard PP Mist filters and had to buy the new ones just to make it more seamless but I mean you could always put them before the base plate if you really needed to use something off brand. IDK, just filled the $2000 cart and said f it and went full send hahaha

Wow, this is really a perfect combination of all Filter systems I know and then it takes the next step: magnetic Swap, Lock mechanism, 82mm Base for all Filter Threads Sizes, stackable, almost No Color Shift (I liked the warm tint of the filter better than without). I think it cant get much better, I will get those

@dmitry_yashenkov Жыл бұрын
It seems to me that Vario ND cannot be made so that the color does not change and there is no vignetting. Therefore, to get a good picture, it is better to use a constant ND (ND8; ND16; ND32; ND64; ND1000). Peter McKinnon made a good design, the filter closes on both sides, that's good!
@Keerationfilms Жыл бұрын
With how fast you can lock the filters, I hope Polar Pro would also make the single ND as well. That would actually be a good idea with this new system.

I do actually think that the feature of run and gun shooting is Digital IS and Digital montion blur. You dont really need NDs for KZbin production. And digital IS is so freaking good, specially when you dont want the hastle of a gimbal. With Gyroflow plugin that lets you do a GoPro level of stabilization in Resolve without the need to re-render your file, and with ability to fine-tune the stabilization to your exact needs, its just so freaking awesome, that I would take it anyday over some "natural MB" which yes, you probably might need in some more serios film productions once in a while, but remember that those NDs negate the possibilty to use Gyro IS later in post. And the digital MB is getting better every day. So if you are filming alone.. just dont use NDs and make your workflow easier, so you would have more energy (and money) to focus on actual storytelling and creative shooting technics.

@plisskenetic Жыл бұрын
1:05 - don't get it, why not just lower the ISO??
@MSMImage Жыл бұрын
Shooting in LOG gives you the best image possible out of your camera. When shooting in LOG each camera has its own base ISO that you want to be at to achieve the highest dynamic range possible. In this case that’s 640 ISO. So if he lowers it he would lose dynamic range.

The polar pro system is trash lol. I explain why 1. Freewell done this already and the glass is much better quality. 2. Takes more time 😂 with all the polar pro pieces. The system flawed. You think u save much time but realized you just got conned 😂😂Total gimmick. 3. Moment cinebloom is universally agreed as the best defusion filters besides tiffen pro mist/prism fx dream filter. In 6th place, are these poor quality polar pro mist. There's been comparison videos to prove this. 5. Even the blue and gold anamorphic style filters has already been made by moment / prism lens fx and it had proven to have shown a more natural beautiful result. The polar pro version lacks sharpness and often would not even show what is advertised.

Yes it does, you have to select kit, not just the filter alone without it. Very clear on the website.

@@BraedenRoesler for me the only kit available was the normal 2-5, I wanted the 6-9. Like i said, it was just a reminder. Im just very used to filters like this having the mounting rings included. The kit also only comes with a 72 and 82mm thread, ive got 3 lenses so that wouldn’t even be enough. As a comparison, the tilta mirage matte box is cheaper, comes with the rings and is a matte box instead of a filter
