I think a fair explanation (if the context allows for it on the old website) is that the list of dinosaurs on the website wasn't meant to be EVERY dinosaur on the island, but rather was a piece of marketing material that listed the 15 dinosaurs that Masrani felt to be the most marketable on the website. That would influence which dinosaurs they picked for the image, like diversity of types, their infamy, and if they're ready to be shown to the public yet.

With Jurassic World, there is another major thing about things on the island. Basically that the list of things on the island isn't about the species on the Island, but the species that were known to the public. For example, a new species might not be put on display and they'd have quarantine pens and containment paddocks in the restricted area and other points on the island where they'd put new species to observe and get a baseline understanding of them before introducing them to the public in general if they could. For example, a predator species on the island being held in containment as they figure out the best way they can build a permanent enclosure for them that could keep them visible and safe for the public. It would also give time to handle issues if there are "mistakes" in the cloning process so that they don't spend a ton of money on building and promoting a new addition to Jurassic World only for the new dino to end up a sickly thing that staggers around and dies shortly after it. It could also mean they could see if new herbivores are able to be incorporated into existing enclosures or understand things like the entire Rhino/Elephant discussion about tranquilizers from the Jurassic Park novel. Hell, in the JP novel that'd already had that kind of thing happen where a cloned animal was just to dangerous for their original plans with the aviary plans had to be canceled and left them with a massive bird cage full of flying reptiles that they didn't know what to do with and a lot of cash down the drain with what had been constructed there.
@MaddMattP903 жыл бұрын
from what we gather from JW, they were opening attractions on a regular basis. almost every other year. So Ouranosaurus could have been being held until a new attraction was finished after the Indominus Rex paddock was opened to the public. Or it falls in line with why the Carnatosaurus was never displayed and could actually be overly aggressive.

Seeing this sneak peek scene made me hyped for friday´s release of season 3, seeing a herbovire be menacing and strait out scary is definately something we need more of, in a way it doesn´t feel natural to see something with that shape chase you down so agressively and that makes it even more horrifing in a way, absolutely LOVE this!

Great video of the Ouranosaurus in Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 3. This looks impressive and terrifying with Kenji and the Ouranosaurus, it’s looks pretty amazing. I’m finally excited for my favorite Iguanodontidae dinosaur in the Jurassic Series since Planet Dinosaur and Jurassic World Evolution. If anything... perhaps the JW website list was the park's "promotional list" (i.e. the Dinosaurs that were currently on display.) Doesn't mean that other attractions weren't always in development behind the scenes like in any theme park. Its also likely that there would have been a lot of areas not open to the general public that served as the production zones for the park where they would develop, grow, and store new dinos until they were ready to make a new park introduction. Now with everyone gone, all those animals are out and about.

Ouranosaurus was already extinct when Spinosaurus showed up. It's contemporary with Suchomimus, along with Eocarcharia and Kryptops from the lower Cretaceous in the Elrhaz formation of Niger. Ornithischians were either locally extinct or absent from the Upper Cretaceous formations that Spinosaurus comes from; Bahariya fm. (Egypt), Kem Kem Group + Dekkar Group (Morocco), and Echkar fm. (Niger). Not 100% sure about Echkar and Bahariya, but Ornithischians are definitely not present in the Kem Kem Beds, not even indeterminate remains of shed teeth or fragmentary bones. With the heavy amount of commercial digging done in that region and hundreds of thousands of material that flooded the private market, ornithischian anything should have popped up if they existed.

Seeing how the Raptors had their own paddock that was off limits to the public (in JW anyway, right?) it seems logical that other aggressive animals would, too. The islands are pretty big, there’s so much that could be hidden and/or going on alongside main stories (the movies) just like Jurassic Park: The Game. Who knows how many types of clones are on Nublar and Sorna. To me it’s like, people who say there’s too many Pokémon, how many more are there going to be? So in my head I take the “we don’t know what we are working with until we hatch them” from the books and the fact that Wu is still working with the park to explain all this. He would definitely be working with new DNA as he found it. And would probably be very excited about any and all new species he found. The second book does a good job at explaining that not all animals are “park” ready. I know you talk mostly about the Films and Netflix, but the books explain a lot of plot holes. And I wish they would have worked those explanations into the Films and Netflix.

Another difference between public lists and actual species could be that discovering DNA via mosquito amber is not a guaranteed process, so they have to extract, patch, and then grow a new species, and give it time to grow up and make sure it is viable in the restricted zone before making a public announcement and setting up new enclosures/attractions. Some animals were held back from park exhibitions for being too aggressive like the carnotaurus or for special projects like the raptor squad. Even the Indomitus was only at the stage of a temporary enclosure, with it being shown off to drum up investor or sponsor support, and not to the public at large by the time of the movie.

In a way, you could see it as Masrani bred dinosaurs in the restricted zone and and was readying them for the public which is probably why the public never saw the allosaurus carnotaurus or sinoceratops. In season 1 I'm sure there is a line about the sinoceratops grassland habitat with the parasaurs and brachi was due to open with camp Cretaceous so yh maybe ouranosaurus and monolophosaurus were just kept in the restricted area and found now due to free roaming

I understand they want to hype this up but we already now know about this dinosaur, bumpy, flying around, the boat, the helicopter, dr. wu, E750. How many episodes are there going to be since it seems we are getting so much information that you could probably theorycraft the entire season without watching it. How do you feel about the information being released? Too much, too little, just right?
@maxeisenhardt88003 жыл бұрын
I've always believed that JW had a rotating species list for exhibition in order to keep interest from visitors and motivate them to come back. The rest of the species may have been kept in a separate area in Nublar waiting for their time to be moved to the main tour. In the case of Nasutoceratops (and any other potential new species) the explanation would be that they were off-screen. As simple as that. Maybe there was another section in the Lockwood facility that was opened as well when Maisie pushed the button.
