It’s hard to really grasp and appreciate just how lively the freight scene is, all the spots, everyone who’s out there putting in work, the dedication that’s required to perfect your craft, it may not be as hectic as the streets, it may not bring the same adrenaline rush, but it brings peace of mind, the silence at night except for the trains occasionally moving or clunking, the frogs in the creek.. it helped me find the love for Graf again. Rolling like thunder is a fantastic documentary that gives you an insight to the world of freights. It’s just something special.

Freight graff is so beautiful man. Nothing like painting alone in the yard during a sunset or under the stars and moon. So therapeutic Mannee

That first Markal looked like what happens when the fluorescent ones fade back to white.

Ahhh. could be. I haven't used the fluo ones enough to recognize what they looks like but definitely a good insight

yo sciz do you know if there is any website where you can see active freight yards in the area you live in?!

not that I know of. Would be unlikely considering how easy it would be for cops to use it too

maybe there's some overlap in terminology, but I'd call that a "straight letter" before calling it a "throwie"

Why do most graffiti artists just write their own name? Wouldn't it be more interesting if they painted a dragon or a wizard or some cool shit? I know that these exist, but in general when I walk around abandoned buildings, train stations, etc, it's just dudes tagging their name. Usually scrawled with a black marker.
@xboys_archive8 ай бұрын
Easier to remember a name for the most part. I think. People to paint cool shit tho. Lot of good art then a lot of shitty names
@torgo_8 ай бұрын
@@xboys_archive It's unfortunate, and although graffiti artists see themselves as subversive or counter-culture, the act of tagging is actually very similar to the pitfalls of contemporary art: where the artist is obsessed with their ego and their image and clout, rather than actually having interest in creating something skilled, thoughtful or beautiful.
@xboys_archive8 ай бұрын
@@torgo_ really good point. I hate how big graffiti has gotten it’s all become pretty terrible and over saturated. The freight scene in the 90s and early 00s was amazing. Some decent artists today who do the sort of not name thing are zwon, otherscribbles (on instagram), pars kid, theory, aware, Margarett kilgallen, Barry McGee, katch1

Ahh man see!! This throw up is better than 99% light color fill in darker outline. Brilliant, no one in graffiti would have thought of that. Except EVERYONE! lol you didn’t even hear me at all on the last comment. 😂oh well man you do you.

I'm actually curious, seeing Americans walking around the yard... Isn't this prohibited? In Germany, where I'm from, drones and police will come after you immediately - depending on the area, of course. But generally, just walking around and pointing a camera at your unblurred face would be a very bad idea 😂

@@ScizGraffiti Oh, sorry, my bad. I just assumed. So it doesn´t seem to be a problem in Canada, either.
