I feel like people aren’t realizing how hard these new bosses are in their setting. On their own, almost every other boss salmonid are a walk in the park, but these new bosses look like they’ll cake the entire area your team is in very quickly considering their mechanics. Plus, painting the flipper flopper’s ring is easier said than done when it’s paired with, let’s say, a steelhead as it’s bomb is about to go off and re-paint said ring.

I noticed how much bigger the map was in the trailer, so we might have waaay more bigger maps that can add to the usefulness of chucking eggs across the map.

I understand both sides of the story. At the end of the day, we should just be happy for those who are happy its back and hopefully they will add more bosses and features in addition to the Fish Stick, Flipper Flopper, and Egg Throw.

I'm fairly sure they will. I don't think it would make sense if what was shown turns out to be the only new SR content. There's probably a lot more that they haven't revealed waiting to surprise us; I'd bet the surprise would've been running the risk of being spoiled if they went to reveal more than they did.

They could've adjusted animations for the old salmonids so it can at least look different. Or adjust the time so it isn't defaulted at sunset so that time can cycle throughout the match.

I'm glad they did confirm salmon run being back, it would've sucked if they removed the mode and added nothing to replace it. Sure it would've been nice to see more new things about the game, but at least now that every major feature from Splatoon 2 is confirmed they'll have a lot more room to focus on new stuff the next time we see the game

I myself had the same question about little buddy, though aside from this I just appealed to my little kid need to see gameplay. And there is also the fact that I never could feel "hype" unless it is something to do with the Playstation games I played when I was a young boy. Probably because Nintendo was the first company I got disillusioned with.

I was definitely in the latter category - mostly because I was already firmly believing that Salmon Run would return because cutting it would be... really, really stupid. I'm pretty sure I was more hyped when the JP twitter started posting extra lore than the entire trailer itself. The thing that disappointed me the most with the Next Wave trailer was just how awful the quality of it was. Weird cuts, weird lighting, what looks like multiple unfinished textures, and dear god that animated segment in the middle when they introduced the new bosses? It looks so un-Splatoon and rushed and that tentacle just clipped through an arm and a gun three times. I believe that we could've gotten more. I believe that we could have gotten better. Because I KNOW Nintendo can do better than that. I hope the game releases later rather than sooner so that it'll look better than what we got here.

Maybe we keep an egg and hatch it ourselves so it imprints on us? I've had a theory that Grizz is collecting the eggs for his own salmonid army or something. Little buddy gives me some hope for that as it proves salmonids will have a role in the story mode this time around. We're no longer fighting octolings, or at least they aren't as big of a problem, so there's gotta be a new enemy.

There was a fanmade splatoon 3 concept on twitter before splatoon 3 was announced and they had a great idea for a salmon run replacement. It basically replaced the salmonoids with sharks and instead of the color scheme being green and orange it was blue and white. It was a great idea and it was different. There was also an anchor weapon that you could throw. If Nintendo went this route there really would be no issue. It would fit perfectly with the lore and people wouldn’t question why we are killing salmonoids when we have little buddy as a friend.

I'm a super dedicated Salmon Run fan, and seeing this actually made me want to get the game in the first place. They may have only brought 3 new bosses and maps, but the concept of a new day-time wave type and egg throw brings possibilities to many optimizations and overfishing opportunities. It's now possible for a single player to get 200 eggs using egg throw. And with the new bosses, there may even be an increased spawn cap. But this doesn't just mean it's my favorite trailer, the production quality seems very rushed. The shading and graphics look uncanny and the new boss introductions made it look very rushed. They did their best mode dirty. :/

When I first watched the next wave trailer I was slightly disappointed. Simply because I'm now worried how the story of splatoon 3 will go, at first a lot of people thought Mr grizz would be the villain and I agreed on that, but then salmon run came back and now I'm worried that the villain of splatoon 3 will be DJ Octavio again. Mr grizz can still be the villain however i wish they made an entire new mode instead of bringing salmon run back. But after rewatching the trailer a couple of times I'm not as dissappointed anymore and more hyped that were getting the mode back.

I’m just scared over how this will tie the lore with the new salmon run mode. Why are we stilling killing Salmonids if Salmon Run is a rare occurrence? It’s been one year since Splatoon 2 in game right? Yes I love Salmon Run but.. I would do anything for Little Buddy! :/ I just don’t know how to feel about it, it’s not a huge enough factor for me to not want to pay but idk. It just doesn’t feel right to kill Salmonids in Salmon Run and expect me to be happily adventuring with Little Buddy in story mode. It's a really odd premise, but another commenter said that maybe our Little Buddy is a salmonid who had an awakening and broke away from the "evil" salmonids, much like how Marina became conscious and left the Octarians once she heard The Squid Sisters. Either way, I really hope Nintendo explains what is happening in detail with this game's story!

Even though it generally looks the same if not exactly the same I don't think there needs to be any large changes to it in order to make it as fun as it is now. I've put easily 1000+ hours into salmon run it is one of the most enjoyable game modes they have released. New small tweaks like egg throwing or new bosses and maps was generally all I was looking for. I think not including Salmon run into Splatoon 3 would have been a deal breaker for me. I'm guessing that the player is doing it to simply get more money and have a job. Noticably, the flag flying from the egg basket is not Grizzco's. It's the New Squidbeak Splatoon's flag, I THINK. Maybe it's a moneymaking operation for the NSS. Either that or Grizzco is still in charge of the whole operation.

I was one of the people disappointed because I would've preferred to see something new first, or a bigger add on, however, I don't agree with the graphics thing. Obviously you can't do too much on the same console graphic wise, but if you look at stuff like the inkings and ink itself, they look VERY different, for example, the ink looks thicker, kinda like splatoon 1 ink, and the inkling/Octos seem to have more detailed, high Res, models that are more expressive. All and all though, I'm still disappointed with this trailer, not only does it go against many lore points (which they'll probably cover, but that still doesn't change my next point), but also, it just seems a very bad tactic to save everything last minute, when you should be trying to sell old and new fans from the start. I'm already seeing people who are losing interest in this entry and throwing it off as a splatoon 2.5 and I'm starting to feel that way too. Why not show off a new mode first? What makes this game so different outside of turf wars and story mode (that we also don't know much about playstyle wise)?? What even makes *this* salmon run worth it?? What's the point? I mean ima still get the game, as I have it pre ordered, and I'm not hating; I'm just scared of the series becoming repetitive rather than being fresh

Some very good points! Splatoon 3 is going to be a good game, but the real question is will it be a GREAT one? Or is it going to be more or less the same as the previous 2 entries? It has so much potential, but Nintendo has to place this right. I know they're probably saving the meatier stuff for the Splat Direct/E3, but regardless, I think this was just really not the trailer we needed at the direct.

@@CJ_Hyperfresh I agree, it was very lackluster, and I really was trying to find ways to hype myself up by watching more positive reactions (because I watched the direct as it first aired with a specific KZbinrs stream, in which, they were also disappointed) but ultimately, even after trying to find and watching more positive reactions, I just couldn't be hyped for a returning mode with little new things when it could've given more or something different entirely. Honestly though, I don't want to say it, but I don't think this game will be at E3, it wasn't last time, and I don't think it'll be in this one (will probably just announce a direct during it), especially because I already predicted that BOTW2 would be the E3 spotlight, and after the lack of Zelda in direct, my prediction was probably confirmed. So most likely we will have to wait a week or two after E3 when a splatoon direct is announced there, similar to what they did with animal crossing last year
